Alpha's Temporary Luna Chapter 40

“It slipped my mind.”

Slipped his mind? How could he have forgotten to tell her when they have been talking about producing an heir? It was so related he could have recalled and tell her!

“The other day, Sophie. I didn’t tell you because it was unimportant.”

“Unimportant?” Sophie stopped walking. “All them knew. I was the only one who didn’t. How was that unimportant, Axel?”

“I didn’t think it was necessary to tell you. Her pregnancy has nothing to do with us…” Axel’s brows furrowed. “Why are you even bringing all of this up?”

“I don’t know, Axel.” She let go of him. “Probably, because the moment you found out she was pregnant, you wanted me to carry yours, too.”

“Sophie, what?”

Axel’s eyes squinted at Sophie. He could not believe what he just heard. Sophie sounded doubtful. Her questions were unreasonable, like she was pushing him to say something she wanted to hear. Where did she even get the idea that he only wanted a baby because his past lover, Rebecca, was pregnant?

“Isn’t it true?” Sophie continued avoiding his eyes. “What Rousel said was a fact that it angered you. You said about wanting an heir, all of a sudden, and I thought it was strange. Now, it all makes sense. It wasn’t because you desired it. You wanted to save a face, Axel.”

“You don’t believe me…” Axel’s gaze turned cold as he inwardly realized it. “Why?”

“It’s not that I don’t believe you, Axel.” Sophie shook her head. “You’re not just telling the truth––“

“And Rousel is?”

“Isn’t he?” The Omega drew a deep breathe. “I’m tired. Let’s go home.”

Sophie turned her back on the Alpha. But before she could even take a step, Axel stopped her by her wrist. Axel pulled her towards him with strength that she recognized. She was forced to face him, again. But looking at Axel’s serious face made her feel something. Especially, looking at the real colors of his eyes. It was how his eyes looked whenever he transformed.

Sophie breathed hard. The Alpha caged him in his arms, and although Sophie had already gotten used to it. Tonight was different.

“You can not just simply turn your back on me….” Axel whispered to her. “Not when I’m still talking to you.”

Sophie shivered. The coldness in his voice. His eyes. The strength he’s putting on his arms to cage her. Sophie closed her eyes. She made him mad. But even so, she couldn’t make herself apologize.

She was hurt. Hearing that from Rousel made her realize that Axel was still not completely over Rebecca. The fact that he hid her that proved it. They were together for a lot of times. They spent times together. In the dining area. In the bedroom. They have been talking a lot. So, she couldn’t believe that during all those times… telling her didn’t cross his mind.

“I do not want to talk to you––“

“You don’t get to choose that.”

“Then, are you saying you’re taking my right to decide whether or not I can talk to you?”

“Why are you mad?” He asked, ignoring what she previously said. “Why don’t you believe me?”

“It was simple, Axel. If you didn’t get it a while ago, you wouldn’t, even if I repeat myself.”

“Tell me…”

She looked at him straight in the eyes. Sophie’s eyes turned hazel brown. She could not stop her feelings any longer. This conversation was frustrating her. The way Axel denies it. The way he wanted her to be wrong. He was dominating, but it was gaslighting!

“Life is a two-way street, Axel. You want answers? Give it.”

Axel’s jaw tauted. “I was giving you answers, you just wouldn’t believe––“

“The real ones, I meant.” Sophie cutted him off. “Or are those hard to admit? Why? Because you couldn’t accept yourself that she could still make you feel like that?”

“Feel like what?” His jaw clamped. “I want an heir, Sophie. And it isn’t because of Rebecca, it is because I want us to create a family…”

Family, huh.

Weren’t all of this to get Rebecca back in the first place? And she agreed because she loved him…

Sophie closed her eyes. She didn’t respond, though she could still feel the Alpha’s eyes on her. Shortly after that, she nodded. By the way things are now, they’d get nowhere. Axel surely wouldn’t admit it. And as for Sophie, she’ll submit.

Just like when she agreed to become his temporary Alpha.

“Okay.”

The two went home. But none of them tried to speak to each other after that. Axel reflected on what they argued about. He was sure it wasn’t because of Rebecca. Sure, now Rebecca has proven his pregnancy. But it wasn’t because of her!

It wasn’t…

Axel looked at Sophie from the mirror. His Luna was busy taking a walk on the garden of the palace. She was looking at the white roses she planted. This has been Sophie’s routine, and it’s the third day now. They haven’t talk, and he missed her, a lot.

He took a short leave from work to focus on her. But then they fought and it led to this.

Axel looked and breathed hard. Now, how is he going to make it up to her?

----

“You seemed to be in a quarrel with the Alpha, my Lady.” Flora spoke. “I noticed you haven’t spoke to each other since the night of your crowning. Is everything alright?”

Sophie walked slowly. She was killing time. She didn’t want to be in a same place with Axel, so even if she wanted to stay inside, she took a walk. She took a deep breathe. Her eyes were straight in front. She’d figured Flora would notice any time soon. It wasn’t hard to know, anyway.

“I don’t know, Flora. I just hated how he also wanted to use his power in me.”

“He’s the Alpha.”

“And I’m his Luna.” She looked back to Flora for a few seconds. “If there was something that bothers me, shouldn’t he be asking what it was and take it away?”

“Is something bothering you, my Lady?” Flora grew curious.

“Yes…” Sophie nodded. “But not that it matters now…”

“What do you mean?”

“Nothing, Flora.”
