Alpha's Temporary Luna Chapter 44

After the small fight the Alpha and his Luna had to face, their lives went back to normal. Axel started going to work again, and Sophie was therefore left alone in the Palace every daylight with Flora.

But something seemed to have been missing.

Perhaps, entertainment.

The Alpha’s Lun, started to think about something she could lend her time and energy to. She wanted to find a new hobby, or a job. Therefore, she was satisfied with taking care of the Palace's garden. She was having fun with planting and watering flowers, but that didn’t remain the same.

Sighing, Sophie stood up from her seat. “Flora, I need something to keep me busy.”

“Does staying in the Palace make you stodgy, My Lady?” Flora’s brows etched. “How about I take you to walk in the Capital? We have spare time to kill on our hands.”

“I meant every day, Flora. I want to keep myself occupied.” Sophie responded with a troubled look visible on her face. “I could do a job, or perhaps… work in the Border, too?”

Flora shook her head. She could almost hear the Alpha’s decisive no just by thinking about it. There was no way he would agree to that. Knowing Axel, he wouldn’t let Sophie tire herself, nor expose herself too much. Axel was like that… especially to his woman.

There was an old saying that all Alpha are naturally possessive. She could tell he was.

“That might not be a good idea, my Lady.” Flora showed her disagreement.

“Why would you say that?” Sophie crossed her arms over her chest. “I don’t think it’s a bad idea, Flora.”

“The Alpha may not like it. You know, he’s overly strict when it comes to you.”

“He’s not.”

Just convincing Sophie won’t be enough. Her Grace was a stubborn woman who’d recklessly do what she wanted to do. She needed to suggest something as an alternative, otherwise, she would really push the idea.

“How about we hire more servants so you wouldn’t feel unentertained?” Flora tried to come up with something. “Or…”

A bright smile appeared on Flora’s lips as she came across something that would surely catch her grace’s attention. They could make a donation! Sophie would really love that. She was a woman who loved doing public service, after all.

She was at a heart.

“Or?”

“A donation, My Lady. Let’s cook something for the homeless kids!”

Sophie’s lips pursed. What Flora just said stimulated something inside her. She felt excited! Sophie smiled, and clasped her hands together. It was a perfect idea!

“You totally hit it, Flora! Let’s do it!” Sophie’s eyes glinted with eagerness. “I’ll ask for Axel’s permission this evening!”

Sophie was overjoyed by Flora’s brilliant suggestion, so she informed the Alpha about it. She told him she was looking for something that would keep him busy, when Flora came up with this. And upon hearing that Sophie considered the option of working in the Border, Axel immediately approved of the donation. He figured it was much better than having her working.

Axel agreed, but on the condition that he would have his men guard her.

It was only a little compromise that she didn’t think would bother her at all, so it was a deal. Tomorrow morning, after they had breakfast, Sophie asked Flora to go to the Capital. They were to check how many of the homeless kids would be in their first chosen area. Sophie wanted to start at a place outside the Palace where some of the vendors live.

Soon after they had reached the place, they saw little kids running around the area. Playing with their clothes dirty and torn. The residents were busy. This was basically a farm where the fruits and vegetables they sell from the Capital grow.

And whilst it was indeed peaceful, it was where poverty remained alive.

Sophie approached the kids to ask for their names. To ask about the little village. It was when Sophie figured out there was something wrong. There weren’t any doctors here. Firemen don’t come whenever there is fire. They didn’t get any help. Wasn’t Axel making sure the Kingdom was doing well?

Sophie’s plan to donate some food to the kids was altered. It wasn’t just kids who needed help, but the entire village. She left the area with Flora to go to Axel’s headquarters. If she could talk with the council, or any important person there, then she could do something.

Sophie had a purpose, and she knew Axel was busy, so she told the others, Luna and Omega, not to tell the Alpha about her. However, she tried to talk to who was available at the moment. She waited with Flora, whilst she was accompanied by Hansel, Roger, and Clint. The little information she got made her worry.

Axel was leading the Kingdom. Not just the pack. So, it was just logical for him to ensure that everyone was getting the same treatment and legitimate rights, wasn’t that so?

“I’m sorry, Sophie.” One of Axel’s trusted Luna, the one that’s skilled, at daggers, Avioanna, came to her to apologize.

“The council are not available as of that moment. They’re busy talking to Edward and Rebecca.”

Sophie’s brows formed a line. “Edward and Rebecca, why?”

“They have decided to live here. But as we all know, Edward and Axel can’t stay in the same place. They’re settling that issue right now.”

She knew about that. But why? Wasn’t Rebecca the one who decided to live far away with her new mate? Why was she back now?

Although, confused, she accepted her explanation. If that was the case, then she could wait. Surely, their talk wouldn’t last a day, would it?

Sophie waited, without Axel’s acknowledgement. Axel, on the other hand, was bothered by his men's report. Rebecca came back, again. With her purpose unknown this time. He found it ridiculous.

Edward had his own family and land. Why can’t they just settle there? Continuously insisting the union between two Alpha was starting to get him. Sighing, he stood up. The council can easily solve this matter, but he has a feeling he won’t like the way they would.
