AURORA’S POV
I regretted my decision to inject Tyson with the serum, the moment I calmed down. I wasn’t the type to take revenge. God knows what had come over me!
Tyson rolled over to his side and groaned in pain. His face was covered in a cold sweat.
“NO!!!! Moma… please don’t leave me here… Teddy will be a good boy. He will always listen to you… Moma… please take me home….” Tyson kept repeating it like a recorder.
His face contorted in agony. Whimpers and screams echoed in the room making me shudder.
I sat down beside him and grasped his hand. This calmed him slightly and his body stopped convulsing.
I wanted to comfort him but the only word that left my mouth was, “Tyson…”
My heart twisted with guilt and grief as I watched him suffer. It was all my fault…
“Aurora, there is a slight problem. The Crescent Pack has attacked our base. I will have to send the reinforcements. Can you give him the antidote?” Aslan said in a breathless voice, entering the room.
I was stunned for a moment but then I nodded my head. He thrust the injection into my hand and turned on the screen that showed the CCTV surveillance.
“Aurora, this is serious. Tell him to see the footage once he wakes up.” Aslan said with pleading eyes.
My eyes swept from him to Tyson and back to him. “Don’t worry Aslan. I will try not to make this any more difficult for you.”
He nodded his head slightly and said, “I trust you…” Then he ran out of the room.
This was maybe the first time I heard the word ‘Trust’ since I met Tyson and Aslan.
My hands trembled as I tried to locate the vein in his hand and inject the antidote. My hands wouldn’t stop shaking no matter how hard I tried. In the end, I just stabbed him with it, just like the first time.
He winced and pulled away his hand. His body started convulsing and he continued muttering, “Please… don’t kill her… please… don’t harm her… don’t hurt her… I know I have committed a zillion sins but she….”
Then, all of a sudden he sucked in a deep breath and sat up with a start. His eyelids fluttered and opened. I had expected him to lash out, instead he gathered me into a hug.
“Thank God, you are alright….” He muttered and started kissing me on my lips.
I remained frozen for a few seconds but when I realized what was happening, I tried to push him away.
He held the nape of my neck and held me in place before continuing his torturing kiss. My lips felt numb from being sucked and my mouth filled with the metallic taste of blood.
With no other option left, I stabbed him with the needle in my hand. This seemed to have brought him back to his senses as he pulled away almost instantly.
Blood rushed to my face. I would have bolted out of the room but I had to convey Aslan’s message.
I scooted to the far edge of the bed. I cleared my throat and said, “I know you didn’t mean to kiss me. You were not fully in your senses. So, I am going to pretend that this never happened.”
The hair on my back stood as he gripped my hand and lifted my chin roughly. I gulped when I met his eyes. They were ablaze with desire.
“How do you know I didn’t mean to kiss you?” He whispered.
I licked my dry lips and managed to speak with great effort, “There is nothing between us. That night I was so drunk that I don’t even remember what happened between us. Judging you by your personality, you weren’t looking for anything serious either.
I am not the person you would want to kiss the moment you recovered from unpleasant memories…”
His eyes turned black and he pushed me out of the bed saying, “You are right…”
I stumbled due to the impact. I managed to grip the headstand for support at the nick of the time.
I felt a strange ache develop in my heart when I saw his indifferent expression. Drawing in deep breaths I forced myself to say, “Aslan told me to inform you that there has been an attack on some base… I don’t remember the name…”
Tyson had bolted out of the room before I could even complete my sentence.
TYSON’S POV
The moment Aurora told me about the attack I rushed to find Aslan.
I was surprised to find him sitting alone in the conference room. “Aslan, have you forgotten that you are my second in command. You are supposed to handle the situation if I am unavailable.”
He was startled by my voice and stood up instantly. Bowing to me, he said, “The situation is under control, my liege. I have deployed our forces to Nuama. You can see that we are winning.”
I let out a sigh of relief on seeing the live-stream from Nauma. Our forces were at a distinct advantage both in numbers and ammunition.
The silence of the hall was broken by a blaring sound. I bolted from my seat and tapped the icon to display the footage of CCTV around our palace.
“F***! Tyson. Our palace is under attack. What should we do now? I sent all our troops to Nauma like a fool.”
My blood boiled at the sight of the men outside my Palace. They were firing non-stop. Though magic shield had kept us protected, it was weakening.
The veins on my head popped and my hands balled into fists.“Aslan, you stay inside and protect Aurora. I will go and teach those Dogs a lesson.”
“No, Tyson. You are still weak. Let me handle this. It’s time to teach them that no one can hunt us in our home.” Aslan said and left before I could react.
Letting out a deep sigh, I walked to the cell where Raina was kept. She was screaming and fighting with imaginary creatures.
Gripping her by her arms, I stabbed the syringe right into her heart. The color of her face returned and her body slumped in my arms. I made her lie on the bed and returned to the conference to keep a watch.
