Aurora and the Heart of Magic Chapter 19

-19

ASLAN’S POV

“Do you have to go, Aslan?”

“Aurora is like my sister. I had left blood only to last her a month. I have to go and meet her.”

“But, You promised to stay by my side,” Zarina said with teary eyes.

“I am just going to meet Aurora. I am not going to stay with Tyson.” I explained, placing my hand on her shoulder.

“What if he tries to keep you there by force?”

”I will use this locket to teleport back.” I said smiling.

“I don’t have a good feeling about this, Aslan…”

Damn! This girl was persistent. She didn’t expect me to stay with her like a prisoner, did she?

Her face fell and she said in a low voice, “I never wanted you to feel like that brother.”

I let out a deep sigh. This was the problem when you are living with a witch sister. You can’t even think freely. I was contemplating the best way to explain my feelings to her when she spoke up, “Do you know why I hate Tyson so much?”

My head snapped up in surprise. I had badgered her constantly about this but she never spoke on this topic.

Her eyes burned brighter than coals and her face contorted with hatred. “He was the one who killed our mother.”

I felt like someone had struck with a bolt of lightning. This was impossible. Shaking my head I said, “You are joking right…”

“You are going to meet Tyson, why don’t you ask him?” She spat and vanished from my sight.

Her words kept ringing in my ears long after she left. I had to go to the palace at all costs and find the truth about our mother.

***

The palace seemed eerily quiet. I strained my ears but I couldn’t even hear the sounds of breathing. Had Tyson shifted to a different location?

Drawing in a deep breath, I stepped inside the shielded area. Surprisingly, I wasn’t restrained by it.

Only two men were guarding the gates making me wonder if Tyson had indeed shifted.

“Master.” They greeted me, their eyes lighting up with hope.

“Where is everyone?”

They looked at each other, nodded, and said, “All the men have gone on a search expedition.”

They were hiding something from me. I couldn’t blame them though. After all, I was away for a month. I would have to ask Tyson directly.

TYSON’S POV

My head throbbed with the excess of liquor I had consumed. It had been a month since Aslan and Aurora went missing.

I had sent search expeditions to all the corners of the world. I had personally searched most of the places. I had even risked taking my dragon form yet…

“Brother, what happened?” Aslan’s voice sounded in the room. I looked up and blinked my eyelids.

Letting out a snort, I shook my head. This must just be another illusion.

“Go away! I need my brother in flesh and blood. His illusion is useless to me.” I said and swept the things off the table.

The bottle of rum fell on the ground and shattered while the goblet rolled towards my brother.

I let out a dry laugh as I saw him jump over the goblet. The illusions were getting livelier by the day. I wouldn’t be surprised if Aurora appears and kissed me someday.

Splash! A sudden deluge of water made me suck in my breath. I rubbed my eyes and looked at my brother standing with a glass of water.

F***! He was real. Aslan had returned.

“Brother, I am so glad that you came back,” I said cheerfully. I was about to pull him into a hug when he stepped back.

I was stunned for a moment but then I regained my composure. I smirked at him and said, “Long time no see, brother. I thought you had died just like our mother.”

His nostrils flared and I could see his body shaking. He was beyond furious but I didn’t care…

“I am here to meet Aurora. I will be gone in a couple of hours.”

I shouldn’t have been surprised by his words I guess. He showed more affection towards Aurora than me.

“I don’t think that is possible brother.”

“Tyson! Don’t be difficult. I just want to give her my blood. Don’t forget that you need to keep her alive till she gives birth to your baby… else you will lose ‘The Heart of Magic’.”

I couldn’t help but laugh at his statement.

His hands clenched into tight fists and the veins on his arms were struggling to break free. Though I wanted to irritate him further, I was worried about Aurora. So, I told him about her disappearance in detail.

“Tyson! Only you can be so irresponsible. You didn’t check on her for fifteen days!”

I wanted to tell him that I was busy searching for him but then I recalled his previous behavior. He wasn’t here to meet me.

“You know me, brother. I don’t care about such things.” I said placing my hand on his shoulder which he shrugged away instantly.

My men chose the exact moment to report to me. How inconvenient. I was glad that I had asked them to give up searching Aslan.

Raina’s eye snapped towards Aslan just for a second but then she bowed to me and said, “We didn’t have any luck finding her even today.”

“F***! You had sent out the whole force to search for Aurora.” Aslan said with a bewildered expression.

I cleared my throat and managed to say in a cold voice“How else will I procure the ‘The Heart of Magic.’”

“Of course! How can The Great Dragon King lose a chance to become more ruthless and more powerful.”

I sensed something different in his tone. It was like he meant every word. I was about to ask him about it when he said, “Why don’t you call ‘Code Red’?”

“Are you crazy? You want me to call ‘Code Red’ with a defeated enemy…”

“You are forgetting one thing, Tyson. Caleb is Aurora’s mate. He can locate her with her scent. Anyway, it is up to you…” He said and trotted out of the room.
