Nick's POV
“Did you hurt her? Simeon asked again, his eyes searching me thoroughly as if he was seeing me for the first time, or maybe to him I just turned into an alien species or something.
“I didn't mean to,” I said calmly as I sank my back against a tree with a heavy sigh. “She called me a bastard, my mate called me a bastard,” I said subconsciously.
I didn't know why it felt like she called me something that no one has ever called me, been called a bastard was something I have grown used to, but hearing her call me bastard felt like an arrow has been pierced in my heart.
“Nick, I think you need help,” Simeon said after some moment of silence, and that made me look at him wondering why he would say that I needed help. I can't remember telling him I was sick or anything, if anybody needed help at this moment it should be that witch, not me.
“how do you mean?” I asked looking at him to know where this our conversation was headed.
“Did you even notice the fact that I was absent this morning from our morning exercise?” He asked calmly, I looked at him to ensure he was been serious, like why would I not notice his absence, we have been friends for as long as I can remember.
“Of course I did, I was going to come to look for you before I got distracted by the rogue girl,” I said with a shroud.
“Your mate you mean,” he corrected which made me laugh sadly.
“I do not have a mate, didn't you hear her, she doesn't want me and she hates me so why will I keep deceiving myself that she is my mate when she has picked Richard over me” I sadly.
“So you are just going to let her be with Richard,” he asked.
“What else can I do, I can't force her to love me for who I am, she has made her decisions and with time I will learn to live with it, I have decided to go, rogue, since I have nothing else here that I am waiting for. Finding my mate was the only reason I stayed back, now that I have met her, I think its time to find a new path”
“Do you want to go rogue? It's not as easy as you think you know,” he said
“I know but I can take care of myself, I am very capable of protecting myself from any danger,”
“What about me, you are just going to leave me here?”
“You can come with me or stay back if you wish”
“Do you even know the reason why I was absent this morning?”
“How would I know if you don't tell me?”
“I went to visit the oracle,” he said.
To say that I was shocked will be an understatement, yes our pack does have an oracle, but it is not a place where anybody can just walk in, you have to be important to be allowed an entrance into the oracle's house.
The oracle is highly Reverend around here and honestly, I do not give a fuck about what goes on within that unholy place. To me, I believe that the oracle only wants to tell you the things you want to hear, at least that is how he has been deceiving my sick dad all these years.
“I don't understand, what were you doing with an oracle, and did you even get in?” I questioned, still surprised at his audacity, I can't believe he has seen the oracle.
“I went because of you, and if you remember correctly I told you that the oracle is indebted to my late father for sacrificing his life in his place, ”
“An oracle that can't save himself from battle is not worth being called an oracle,” I said with a little bit of teasing in my voice.
“Aren't you bothered by the fact that you are present in multiple places at the same time?”
“How do you mean?”
“I am talking about what happened a few days ago,”
“Still don't get what you are talking about, I mean they must have thought that they saw me chase off whatever monster they think they saw due to their imagination,” I said genuinely confused
“No, it was you they saw,”
“And what makes you so certain”
“Because the oracle confirmed it”
“Really? You should know better than believe that because we were both together that very moment”
“Exactly my point”
So what did the oracle say about me”
“He didn't say much, he said a woman was stopping him from looking into your horoscope, although he did mention that there was blood, lots of blood on your path and that you should be careful of your better half because she might lead you to your downfall,” He said.
All the while he was talking I was staring at him like a TV because honesty, half of the things he said entered through one ear and flew out of the other.

But something he said about my better half got my attention and wanted to know what he meant by saying she was going to be my downfall.
“I don't understand what you are saying, how is my mate going to be my downfall when she wants nothing to do with me?”
“ I don't know, he didn't elaborate much on it, you know these people mostly speaks in parables, but what I can say though is that things are not, always wh, at they seem, Nick, I think you should find out why your stepmother decided out of the blue to betroth a witch rogue to her heir son,” Simeon said.
I have always had my suspicions as to why my stepmom would suddenly embrace a witch as a daughter-in-law when she knows how much my father hates it.
Maybe indeed there is more than what meets the eyes, and I intend to get to the bottom of it.

Kyle's POV
I got back to my room angry and pissed, like who the fuck does he thinks he is? What is so wrong with wanting to go and see my mother? I fucking hate that dude and wish he was dead so he can stop tormenting me with his presence.
“be careful what you wish for,” my wolf said letting out a disappointing sigh, I know she too was looking forward to this little trip of ours.
Just then the door opened and Marian walked in, her face is filled with concern, as she rushes towards me in haste,
“the queen is back and she requests your presence at once,” she said, which made my heart prick a little as my hand unconsciously went to my neck.
I didn't need any mirror to tell me that there was a visible line around my neck, no thanks to the bastard. In as much as I would have loved to tell the queen what the bastard did, I decided I was going to take matters into my own hands.
I am not going to cry to the queen like a little scared girl, I will teach the bastard never to lay his hands on any female he comes across.
“Please tell the queen I will join her soon,” I said avoiding looking at her in the face, after which she courtesy and left the room. I quickly applied concealer to cover up the scar and did a quick touch-up on my makeup.
I took a long deep and steady breath to calm myself before heading out of the room.
I got to the queen's room and found her talking with a guard, she looked quite upset, but as soon as I came in the guard excused himself and walked out while the Queen tried to wear a tired smile.
“you are welcome your highness, how was your journey? I asked as I got closer to her.
“Not so fine, tell me did you have any trouble while I was away,” she asked looking at me suspiciously.
“not at all ma,” I said, surprised at how easily the lie slipped from my lips, I didn't even blink.
“Are you sure because that is not what I heard?” she said taking off some jewelry set that she had on.
I smiled at her to reassure her that I was perfectly fine.
“Where is Richard?” I asked desperately looking for ways to change the topic
“He should be in his room, you can go and join him there,” she said. I thought of ways or excuses to give as to why I didn't want to be in Richard's room but came up with nothing.
I smiled and courtesy before leaving her to Richards's room, the thought of the bastard flashed through my mind. I realized I didn't know where he lived in the palace. Wouldn't it be fun to find out and pay him a little surprise visit? I smiled mischievously as evil and creepy thoughts filled my head.
