“We both are hiding things from each other.” I confessed.
I am afraid of the day when our secrets will be spilled from our eyes, leading to the doors of labyrinth, splitting us up.
"All things happen at their pace. Chill." He said.
A silence fell upon us and after a while, Candice came to meet me. Bewildered to see her here.
I blinked, not knowing whether I should be happy that she is here or angry because my wife has to come here.
"Not being worried, huh?" Christian teased him with a smirk but I wasn’t enlivened by it.
She passed Christian a faint smile and asked me, "Are you okay?"
What is she trying to show? "Why are you here?" I hissed.
She lowered her gaze and said hesitantly, "I.. was worried.."
Her demeanor is truly different than before, what’s with her.
One moment all on the verge of exploding and second timid.
She looked at Christian with a faint smile again as she said, "Sophie was so worried about you.”
“She wanted to come too but I told her that it's not good for her condition." She added.
He passed her a smile and replied, "No, It's okay. It would be better if she stayed home."
"She was crying a lot."
When Candice said that, his tranquil broke as he left right away
"I'll take my leave."
“I told you not to come.” I said angrily.
“I also thought about not coming but have you ever done what I say that I will listen to you?” She retorted.
“Go back.” I said sternly.
“I won’t.” She replied in the same tone.
“Why?”
“I feel scared at home.” She reasoned.
My mouth gaped, “There are other people at home as well.”
“But you are not there. Who knows when you will come.” She reasoned.
“Don’t be silly. Go.”
“Please, Tyler.” She said sadly, holding my hand.
“I am terrified.” She whispered, lowering her head.
My gaze softened and I cupped her cheeks,
“I will be home at night. You go.”
“Why night?”
“Because I will leave for work from here. Okay?” I said softly.
She made a crying face and nodded. “Are you alright?” I asked abruptly.
Worried by her behavior. “I.. need to tell you something.” She said, lowering her head.
“What is it?”
“Not here! Please… come home.” She whispered.
I passed a faint smile. “I will. You go home. Okay?” She smiled back and nodded.
“Uh… Tyler?” She called me.
“Hmm?”
“Is it true that you are involved.. In..” She trailed off.
“What do you think?” I asked, maybe her answer could show me a path.
“No.” She said firmly with a genuine smile.
“You can’t be a murderer.” She said, Her words shook my very core, elicit heartbreak of the deception she is living in.
I have to tell her now.
“Uh… You should go.” I said hesitantly, looking away.
“Be home soon.” She said and left.
Fuck. What have I done?!
After she left, I called George and told him to come here.
I sighed, shaking my head and realizing what I have done as I have to make up for what I have done.
“I need to tell Candice everything, maybe that way she will also open up to me and tell everything as well.” I whispered to myself.
We are at the point in our lives where we are surrounded by the darkness of the abyss that is sucking our life.
The fright blind us as we cannot tell what gloom lurks inside us.
‘My dread that she might not leave me. Her, I might not hate her.’
And how stupid I could have been to turn ignorant of it. I should have understood, now it came to me, I have realized how wrong I was.
I grit my teeth in extreme fury and saw Christian coming to me.
“Hey. I am going .” He said. I passed him a faint smile and nodded.
“Good for you. Sophie must be worried about you.”
“Yeah. I am going to tell her everything about my past.” Christian said, scratching the back of head in nervousness.
“I hope everything goes well.”
“She will understand, Christian.”
“You should also tell Candice about yourself.” Christian said.
“I know, I will muster enough courage to do it.” Christian laughed a little.
“What?” I asked.
“Muster courage?... Ah dude, look how one woman can have you all by herself on the snap of her finger.”
I chuckled, “Like Sophie have you?” I teased.
“I am a slave of her joy.” Me too, of Candice.
“Anyways, I am leaving, bye.” Christian waved and left.
After he left, George came, “Yes, Sir? You called for me.” He asked, coming immediately after my call.
“Yeah, I am going to work, see the things here.”
“Okay, Sir.” I went to the head office to let him know I was going.
“Your reason ?” He asked.
“My wife is afraid.” I sighed.
“What?” He asked in disbelief.
“It’s not a valid reason, Sir.” He said.
“It means a lot to me.” I said seriously and left.
Tell her. Of course she will understand UNLIKE I did?
Tell her. What if she leaves me?
Tell her. No, I will assure her that I will change and we can live a better and safe life.
Tell her. And waste all my years of desiring her?
