Betide to Love You Chapter 49

Tyler POV:-

Candice has been grounded for a while now. She doesn't complain anymore, and doesn't ask me anything.

Agree with everything, holding me close all the time and it made a needle to prick in my heart to bear this. I cannot take it.

My heart constricted when I treated her like this but she needs a lesson to recognize how much I love her and when she will be deprived of it.

Maybe then she will realize her worth in my eyes- Treasured more than my life.

She is my fortune, my heartbeats place their lives on her.

When my soul is wrapped around her winds then how can I imagine seeking comfort other than her shelter?

How I cherish the moments when my eyes meet hers, she could never know how much I zeal for her to the extent of losing my own identity for her…

‘She could never know and I won’t let it… I don't want to be seen as a freak.’

After dinner, I laid on my side using my phone, not paying attention to Candice.

I truly want to hold her and never let her go, keeping her with me to not fall apart. I could never stay angry at her no matter what.

‘How can I be away from the person I prayed for?’

She came and sat beside me, looking at me with those innocent gleaming eyes which made my heart race.

"Tyler…" She called.

I hummed, not looking up from my phone, "Hmm?"

"Look at me first." I sighed and turned to her, looking at her with a cold gaze.

"What is it?" She gave me a nervous look.

"Tyler… I want to ask.. I.. Uh.. That.." She trailed off, twirling her fingers around her dress.

"Speak up." I said agitated.

She shut her eyes and began to say hurriedly.

"I feel suffocated in the room, could you please allow me to leave the room? And tomorrow is Sunday, can you please stay with me, please?” She requested.

With visible dismay, not looking up with her eyes shut, my heart clenched to see her like this.

I continued to stare at her, she slowly opened her eyes and looked at me, my expressions changed into a cold one.

I remained silent, wanting to speak something while protesting my own self from inside.

“Tyler… say something.” She said in a feeble tone.

I rolled my eyes, turning my attention back to my phone, “Do whatever you want but don’t expect me to be with you.”

I muttered which deepened her frown. “Please…” She almost pleaded but I didn’t reply.

She continued to look at me, turning into an adorable angry face and scoffed. I looked at her from the corner of my eyes, not wanting to smirk.

Before I could register she took my phone.

“Candice, give it back.” I said monotonously, moving my hand to take it from her but she moved back, clicking her tongue at me.

“No.” She smirked playfully. I gave her a stern look, ordering with my voice strained.

“Give it back. Now.” Her smirk faded by my look. She sighed and put it on the nightstand.

I was about to take it but she pushed me down and sat on top of me.

“Get away, Candice. I am sleepy.” I ordered.

“You were using your phone and now you are sleepy?” She asked.

“Get away.” I demanded but her amusement came again.

‘Don’t be like this, it would melt me in an instant.’

Honestly, all my wrath is meaningless against her one smile. And it’s game over.

“No.” The sound of her sweet giggle reached my ears, I tried my best to keep up my cold affectation but it was hard.

She put her hands on my side, I didn’t break the stare with my heart beating rapidly.

My voice stuck in my throat when she leaned in for a kiss but I turned my head to the side which made her frown.

“Get away.” I managed to speak again, holding my urge to kiss her passionately inside me.

If she put her hand over my heart, she could easily feel the affliction roaming in my mind.

The wild heartbeat desiring to end this stupid anger but I won’t, not unless she realizes how much she means to me.

“Candice…” She continued to look at me with her cute little furious look but it gradually converted into a bewitching yet child-like winsome demeanor.

“Tyler…” She began to play with my shirt while speaking childishly, enticing me much,

“Come on, Tyler… I am apologizing… I agree it is my fault… but… we both are.. We both are at fault… You agreed to leave everything for me.” She paused.

“And I.. I just lost my ability to think… Everything happened too quickly and I left…” She gulped.

“What was I supposed to do after seeing my brother being shot?.… I am sorry…” She mumbled.

Making a face a baby makes when it’s about to cry and I didn’t know whether to react with the behavior or words.

I looked away, clearing my throat to maintain my posture and replied coldly, “You forced me to become this.”

“I am apologizing for it. It happened, I couldn’t think. You can’t be angry at me for this forever…” She mumbled.

“Come on, Tyler. I am sorry, please… don’t do this.” Her voice faded in between.

A tear dwells in her eye but she didn’t show she was hurting, putting up a smile.

My silence was killing her from inside, she was suffering and wanted to let it out in the form of tears but this time.

She decided not to show it. I looked away, not wanting to see her desperation.

“Come on, Tyler, look at me.” She whined, pulling my shirt. I ignored it.

‘You can’t end my weeks of rage in an instant! It’s not fair!’

“Tyler!” She called again, turned her head to my side, grinning at me. God, it’s so childish.

I looked away, not meeting her gaze which could manipulate me around her smile in a moment.

She moved back and let out a sigh, “Oh my, Seems like Papa is angry. He is not talking to us.”

This got my attention. I looked at her, raising my brow, “He is outraged at us.” She continued,

“I didn’t say it.” I argued.

“You didn’t show you are happy with us… You didn't even take care of us.. Are you even-"

Before she could speak further, I put my hand over her cheek with my thumb over her lips.

Hushing her with my breath turning to a pant, gulping hard to keep my facade.

"Sleep… Candice.."

Her playful demeanor faltered as a gloom took over, still her lips were curled in a smile, sad, "I can't sleep."

I lifted her chin, staring deeply into her sapphire orbs, not wanting to break the rhythm and said softly, "Sleep, Candice. It's late…"
