“It would be my desire to behold my child with my two eyes. Please, Gabriela could you please help me with the eyes surgery so that I can regain my sight again?” Lucas said while having breakfast with Gabriela.
She paused, the cutlery clacked on the china plate, as she stared at him thoughtfully. She was lost in thought of Azuaka whenever anything about the unborn child was mentioned. Her heart thudded with the uncertainty and fear.
“Gabriela! Gabriela! Are you there?” Lucas called thinking she wasn’t there anymore.
“Yes! Yes1 I am here with you honey,” she replied and mumbled, “Um…um, the surgery will take place soon, but why don’t you wait for me to put to bed before we do the surgery. Right now the bills are too much for me to handle. I just have to work harder so that we can take care of the unborn baby,” she was scared of having a baby that would resemble Azuaka, so she wished Lucas would remain in blindness and not have a glimpse of who the baby would resemble.
“What a minute, sweetheart. Are you telling me I am not going to see my baby with my two eyes? I know the bills are too much for you. Indeed you have been helpful to me all this while I was a stay-at-home husband but please, it would be my pleasure to see my baby and appreciate his cuteness. I believe he must resemble me in looks because I am cute.” He chuckled and heard Gabriela do same, “Yes am I not cute? I don’t want our unborn child to resemble you because I am more cute…”
“Oh really?” she asked, blushing, “For that reason he must resemble me…”
“Yes sweetheart,” Lucas recalled, “a man came looking for you earlier today,” he said and stroked his hair to recall his name.
“A man,” she was thrown into deep thought, wondering who could have checked up on her in her absence, “Who could that be?” she asked, anxiety stood in her eyes as she waited for answers.
“Um…um, yes…yes he mentioned Azu…yeah Azuauka,” he said he came to check up on you and the unborn child…”
Gabriela raised a brow once he mentioned Azuaka. She was beginning to wonder what other thing Azuaka told him about the unborn child. “Unborn child? What else did he tell you” she asked
Lucas shook his head, “nothing else. He only asked of the unborn child. Who is that man in particular?”
She swallowed hard, “She said in a pretentious tone, “Oh that is my former boss. He is such a caring man though and has always told me he would want me and the baby to model for him,” she lied.
“Wow! That would be nice and thoughtful of him. You see the reason I want to regain my sight so that I will see how good my baby is in modeling.”
“Oh definitely you will, dear. I am going to ensure you regain your sight. It is a promise I made to you and I will fulfill it.”
“Oh come over here, sweetie,” he opened his arm in an embrace. And once she came in his hold he added, “I promise to love and cherish you in any condition. If you can help me region my sight then there is nothing I cannot do for you.”
“I will help you regain your sight baby, because I love you so much and can never hurt you,” she said as they hugged eternally.
Most times she wished she could apologize to Lucas a million times over the impending heartbreak that would soon happen. But then tears started trickling down her cheeks as she recalled the pregnancy was for Azuaka and not for Lucas, worse of it, trouble was about to break out since Azuaka had started checking up on her.

As soon as Opula opened her door, she saw a box of engagement ring on the floor, with a card which said, PLEASE MARRY ME.
She wondered who could have pulled such a stunt at the early hours of the day. While she was lost in thought Azuaka pulled out form his hiding.
“Please Opula don’t say no to his. I am lovelorn. I must marry you because it is you that I love. I know you love Nku but at least give this love a chance and see if I will toil with your heart…”

Once she noticed onlookers, she became shy, “Please come inside with the ring and stop embarrassing me,” she said and opened the door for him.
“What do I get you. I have coffee, tea, anything,” she said and drifted to the bar.
“I want nothing else but you. Just agree to my proposal. I can’t wait to make you the mother of my …”
She added, “…Unborn children. That is a cliché now. I know you are excited about what happened between us the other day. Listen up, Azuaka, there is no us.
