I walked down the stairs. Solomon was facing the door, but wen he turned around, his eyes widen and his mouth opened in shock. My cheeks redden. I didn't expect such a blatant reaction. But I have to admit. It felt nice being admired. I came down to the last step and stood in front of Solomon.
"Hey."
He smiles down at me, "Hey. You look absolutely stunning Mia."
I smile and look down.
"Thank you. You look rather handsome yourself."
He was wearing a navy blue suit with a grey tie. He did look really attractive in it. He was one of the most handsome men I've ever seen...but not as handsome as some that I know of.
He extends his arm towards me, "Shall we?" I wrap my hand around his very muscular arm and say, "Yes...We shall."
We drove out into the city which was amazing. I haven't ever been to the city bfore. There were buildings taller than trees...light ls brighter than flames. Cars everywhere: honking and driving. People talking on their phones in formal wear. This is amazing. I couldn't help, but smile.
(A/N: for some reason I imagine them listening to this song while driving in the big city. I like the starting bit before the lyrics too. I dunno haha, for some reason I think it suits. Comment and tell me if you think it suits or if there is a better song out there:)
A song came in the radio. It had a techno electric sound to it. And I loved it.
"I like this song." I told Solomon. He smiles at me. He winds down the windows and turns it up. My smile widens.
"This is amazing!" I exclaimed.
He laughs, "I'm guessing you haven't been in the city before?"
I shake my head.
"Well...you'll definitely be in for a ride."
We finally arrived at the Italian Restaurant. I was about to open the door when Soul shakes his head. I frown. He gets out of the car first, run around and opens my door for me. I smile.
"What a gentlemen." I said.
"Well you've finally noticed." He laughed.
He opened the restaurant door for me and we both walk in. With his hand on my lower back he guides me to our table.
He pulls a chair out for me and let's me sit down.
"You do this so fluently. I'm starting to feel kinda intimidated." I joked
One if his brows raises in question, "What do you mean?"
"This is my first date. I'm sure you've done this a couple of times. I just don't know how to act."
He shakes his head, "It doesn't matter how you act. It's just two people talking. So relax Mia. We're going to have a good night." Solomon smiles at me.
His words give me comfort. I release a deep breath and start to relax. "Okay."
A waitress came. She was beautiful. All she did was stare at Solomon in hunger. She didn't even acknowledge my presence. I frowned. Not because it was annoying me that she was looking like she was going to jump in his pants, but because I didn't actually care. I had no protective instinct towards Solomon at all. He was obviously the opposite. He frowned at the lady.
"I want another waitress." He said.
Both me and the waitress said at the same time, "Why?"
He looked at me and frowned, "Because I don't want a slut as a waitress."
My eyes widen, "Solomon!"
"What? I am here on a date with you, while this waitress starts to flirt. A waitress who does surely has done that before." He looks back at the woman, "Get m and my date another waitress."
She rolls her eyes, "Whatever Asshole." She walks away. A minute later another waitress came. She looked more conservative and kind looking.
"May I take your order?"
I ordered first, "I'll have the Italian pizza dish please? And some grape juice." She writes it down and turns to Solomon, "And you sir?"
"I'll have the same, but a beer please."
She smiles at both of us, "I'll be back with your meals."
"Thank you!"
I looked back at Solomon. "So, how does this whole dating thing work?"
"Well, usually you talk about things to get to know each other better."
I nod my head,"Okay...so what do you want to know about me?"
He looks at me and thinks, "How about we finish that conversation we had before the game. About your pack? You said something about not being close to them?"
I'm shocked he even remembers that. I clear my throat, "That's not exactly...ummm...that's not exactly light conversation."
He shrugs his shoulders, "It's a conversation nonetheless. Come on tell me. Unless of course, you don't want to? Which is perfectly fine?."
Do I really want him to know? "I guess I could just tell the main things, but just...not in detail, okay?"
He gives me an encouraging smile and nods.
"So when I was young my father was killed by a hunter and my mother died by giving birth to me. So the Alpha's family took me in as their own. I became best friends with their daughter. When I was around fifteen years old, I was growing much faster than the other girls, I started to look more older and mature. I was accused of doing something I did not do and as a result, the Luna banished me."
Soul frowns, "She banished you? But you were fifteen? Where did you go?"
"They weren't cruel enough to send one of their young out into the wilderness. They gave me the cottage I was in and the basic previsions to survive. And that's it really. I've been on my own for six years now."
He was silent for a while. Processing what I just told him.
"What pack is it?"
I tilt my head, "Why?"
"So than I can go and beat their asses."
"You'd have to challenge the alpha Soul."
He smirked cockily, "And you have forgotten that both of my parents are alphas which makes me more powerful than the average alpha."
I laugh, "Okay okay, I get it."
He leans in, "So...?"
I frown, "So what?"
"Who is the pack?"
I look around, lean in and whisper, "I'm not going to tell you."
He leans back in his chair and groans, "Oh come on Mia!"
I laugh and hold my hands up, "Sorry, but I can't."
He shakes his head. His eyes connect with mine and can see a softness about them, "Thank you for telling me Mia. I know it must've been hard for you."
I smile, "It's okay. I trust you." He smiles and nods at himself.
"Here are your meals." The nice waitress came back and laid our food in front of us. I take one bite of the italian pizza, which is way different than the usual american pizza we get. I groan at the taste. it is amazing. It's as if I was in italy right now, just enjoying a meal at those little cafes. Amazing!
"This is delicious!"
He nods his head, "Yeah, I used to come here as a kid a lot. My parents really loved their Italian food."
After I chewed and swallowed, I asked, "So, what about you?"
"What do you mean?"
"What's your story?"
He looks around in wonder, "My story..."he mumbles to himself. He sighs when he says, "Well, there isn't much to tell exactly. I've grown up in the Blood Moon Pack. I was trained to be an alpha a long side my older brother Xander."
"Are you and your brother close?"
He looks lost in thought and frowns, "We were as kids. We were each other's best friends. We would do everything together. We would train together, we would play together, we would get in trouble together."
"What changed?" I asked hesitantly.
Soul's face immediatly darkened as if reliving a dark part, "One night my pack was attacked by a great army of rogues."
"Is this the same that everybody talks about? The Great Rogue Army?"
He nods his head, "Yeah, it is. I was still a little boy at the time. Even though I had training...I was still so frightened. The only thing I wanted was my brother to be here and protect me because to me, Xander was invincible. He couldn't die in my eyes. But I couldn't find him. I thought maybe he was already in the safe room. So I ran there. I saw my parents fighting the rogues off as I was running. When the battle was finally over...Xander was no where to be found."
"What happened?" I whispered.
Solomon clenched his jaw, "He was taken by the rogue alpha. We couldn't find him no matter how hard or how long we tried. After a while...we slowly lost hope. We all assumed he was dead."
"But?"
"But he wasn't. He had escaped the rogue alpha's prison of little boys. We found him unconscious, weak and starved along with one of his friends he had escaped with."
"How long was he gone for?" Possibly a few weeks, months even?
Soul was silent for a moment, "six years. He was gone for six years." I was shocked. I never knew this story. I didn't know that the alpha had gone through so much.
"During those six years, I was at my darkest. I was lonely. I had no friends. I saw how much pain it caused my mother to lose her first son. So, to try and ease her pain and maybe even to ease mine...I would try to be more like Xander. I would train endlessly to be strong, I wouldn't play games anymore. I tried to act like a man when really I was just a lonely little boy who missed his big brother. Some nights, my mother would wake up crying. I would dress in Xander's clothes and tried to act like him so than she would think, for a moment that he was really there. Then she'd go back to sleep."
He wasn't even looking at me at this point. It looked like he was reliving the moments of pain he had been through. It looked as if it only happened yesterday for him.
"Was everything better when Xander came alone?"
He shook his head, "No. It was worse. He wasn't the Xander that I once knew. He had become cold, heartless, emotionless. He had no sense of humanity in him anymore. Whatever he had went through had killed the Xander I once knew. As he grew older, he became more ruthless and wreckless. There would be news that he had killed a pack of rogues. News of him stealing other packs resources. News of him killing other alpha's in order to expand his own pack."
"That sounds...awful."
Soul nods his head, "It was. And it was hard because he not only had darkness in his heart, but he dragged the rest of our pack in that darkness as well."
I tilted my head, "Then what changed?"
At that question, Soul's eyes brightened a little bit. A small smile appeared on his lips while he still looked lost in thought, "Izzy happened. She was the one that changed him. She had given him his heart back. At first he was a total asshole to her."
I giggled, "Why?"
"Because in his stupid, thick skull, he realized how evil he had become. He didn't feel worthy to be mated to someone as pure and gentle as Izzy. So he tried his very hardest to push her away. But she wasn't only gentle, she was incredibly strong. He finally realized that mates are too precious. They are a male's treasure and soul. Through her, he had become more stronger than he was before. It was all because of Izzy. Throughout that whole problem, my little sister found her mate which was...good."
He suddenly frowned at the thought, "All of my siblings have mates." He mumbled to himself. I could see that he was vulnurable at the moment. He had touched on a subject he had not intended to touch and now he has been reminded of his pain that he had endured.
I reached out and touched his hand. He snaps out of his daze and looks at him. I smile at him, "I think we should go. We can finish this date back at the pack. We can watch a movie together or something."
He smirks and nods his head in agreement, "Yeah, I think that's a good idea." We get up and he pays the man. When we are outside, I look around the city is so vibrant and exciting. I liked it. I liked how it made me feel.
A breeze chilled my exposed skin. Solomon obviously took notice of it because he immediately took off his jacket and placed it around my shoulders. I smiles at him in thanks. I hadn't realize how close we were when he gave me his jacket. By the looks of it, he hadn't realized too. His eyes lowered down to my lips. He slowly leans down and closes his eyes as I did the same. He placed his lips against mine. As we kissed I couldn't help, but feel that this is wrong. I felt as if I wasn't being faithful. And then I realized something. I actually liked Solomon. I did. BUT, when he was talking about all of his siblings having mates, I could tell that not only his wolf but Soul himself was yearning for his lost mate. I could see that even though he liked me, he had already given his heart someone else. And without thinking, I may have done the same.
I broke the kiss and stepped back. I was surprised to see Soul chuckling to himself, "Weren't feeling it huh?"
I looked down and smiled. Then I raised my eyes to his, "Look Solomon. I have to admit, I do like you and I know that you like me. But I think we both know that this just won't work." I stepped closer and cupped his face, "You have a mate out there Soul. While you were talking about Xander and Izzy, I could tell that you wanted that too. You wanted someone to love again-"
"But you-"He tried to interrupt.
I shake my head, "No. You have someone specifically made JUST for you to love. And yes, she had pushed you away numerous times. But Soul, be the Izzy in your own story. Be strong and don't give up. She is literally, your other half. You have tried to move on, but here is a reason why you can't." He looks down into my eyes and is fully focused on what I am saying. I step a little closer to him and whispered, "You never stopped loving her. And you never will. Chase her Soul...until she can't run away anymore."
He just stood there for a while looking at me. There was no sign of happiness or sadness. Then what he had done next warmed my heart. He leaned down and wrapped his arms around my small figure. We stayed hugging for a while. He was a giant, so my head was on his chest and his arms was around upper body. He leaned down to my ear and whispered, "Thank you Mia."
We parted. I looked up at him and smiled. I held my hand out and said, "Friends?"
He chuckled, but grabbed my hand and shook it, "Friends."
I nod my head, "Good."
"Let's go back to the pack."
As we were walking down to the car, I was curious of something. "When you were telling the story about Xander being found after escaping the Rogue Alpha. Who was his friend he had escaped with?"
Soul's face darkened and his jaw clenches, "Noah."
