CHAPTER 58
MONTANA'S POV
Oh, no! That did not just happen! I did not just get caught. I needed to improvise, think Montana, think.
"I asked a question, who are you? Turn around and show your face", The person said, a guard warrior, I suppose.
I turned around, immediately getting into action, "Is there a reason you want to give me a heart attack?"
"Oh Luna," he said surprised, and gave a short bow.
"I am going to give these bags to a friend, it has food in them, and she is waiting for me outside, Goddess what if the food had poured because I stumbled or something?", I asked him.
"I am so sorry Luna, I had no idea it was you," he said sincerely, "I apologize."
I hummed and let out a breath, "It is okay, I just, she doesn't have much, and so I decided to help her, that is why I am sending this bag of food to her."
"That is very kind of you", The guard said with a smile and a nod, "Do you need me to escort you?"
"No, no", I shook my head, "That won't be necessary, I will be taking my car to get to her quickly and come back, she is a human friend."
The guard nodded, "But you can help me put these in the back seat, please, if that won't be a problem," I asked of him.
"Of course Luna, gladly", he accepted, and I handed him the bag that was indeed filled up with food. His nose can sniff it and there would be no sign of me lying.
After he put that back, I arranged them, smiled and thanked him, started my car and drove out.
The warrior guards at the border also let me pass through. No alarm was raised whatsoever, just a Luna walking out of her supposed pack, peacefully.
The same way I drove in the first time I entered this pack, is the same way I am driving out.
When I passed the border, I stopped and turned back, I am going to miss my kids so much for sure, I had their pictures but still.
I will miss Victoria too, I know she would kill me, but I need to do this.
ALPHA LINCOLN'S POV
The next morning, I was woken up by a loud knock on my door. Even when I told the person I was coming, the knock did not stop coming.
"What the hell? Are you trying to give me a headache, Victoria," I said to my sister as I opened the door, and it was her.
She shoved a paper to my chest and I caught it. It was a letter, "what is this?", I asked her, waving it at her first.
"Read and find out yourself", she spat out.
I opened the letter and just from the beginning of the letter, I knew what had happened.
I read further, it said that before I would read the letter she would be gone and also in the letter written by Montana, she said she did a DNA test for me and the twins, and it came out that they were mine too.
I opened the test results, and I was shocked to my bones.
She also wrote that I was free to run the test again if I did not believe her and that she was not trying to pin anything on me whatsoever.
"Where are they? The twins, my kids?", I asked Victoria suddenly, thinking that maybe Montana had taken them with her to punish me more or something.
"I haven't checked," Victoria said, and I yelled at her to go check quickly.
I read the letter further, "Don't worry, Alpha Lincoln, I did not take them with me, I am sure they are safe, protected, and loved by you. I would have still left them in your care, even though you were not their real father, I trust you with them, and I trust you to be there for my kids. I also apologize if this will be another burden on you."
Damn it, Montana, of course, it is not a burden, and you are not a burden… I-
I was short of words as I quickly alerted every single pack warrior to look for her. Information came that one of my guards had seen her, but it seemed she had made up a lie that he fell for.
"Do not look for me. I doubt if you would, but just in case you will, don't. I don't want to be found, and I won't be found. If I come back later, it will be for kids. This is what you have always wanted, right? The five months are already over, with just a week remaining. Goodbye, Alpha Lincoln", and that was the end of the letter.
I squeezed it tightly and slammed my fist at the wall. No, no, I did not mean it, I never meant it, I just, oh Goddess, please bring her back to me, let me make this right.
The lady I had a one-night stand with was Montana. The one I talked about with Sean. The lady I wanted to find out who she was. Was under my roof the whole time, in my pack?
She had to suffer all alone while being pregnant with my children.
I quickly brought out my phone and dialed her number, but it was not going through, the line was saying switched off, not reachable.
It was now I knew I messed up. More especially because of the fear of losing her when I have already lost her.
It was this fear that made me realize how much I wanted her by my side, the feelings that indeed I had pushed away.
Even thinking about it for a second, thinking that she was out there, getting more far away from me, made my heart ache.
"The kids are here," Victoria said as they ran into the room and hugged me. I bent down to their level and hugged them tightly.
"My babies", I pecked all their faces. Even though they were not mine, I would love them as mine, and finding out they are mine, made me so happy.
"Mummy said to give you this," Zendaya said as we broke the hug and gave me the necklace I had given Montana on our wedding day.
The only thing I could mutter when I took it was, "Oh."
MONTANA'S POV
I got on my flight on time, got a new phone, and broke the old one. I saved some numbers in my new phone, though, just In case I would need them one day.
Finally, I had landed at my destination.
I took a deep breath as I looked at the sign that said,
"Welcome to New Orleans."
