Covet Me, My Heartless Alpha Chapter 38

[The next day]

When Veronica awoke, it was already daylight outside the window, and Jaxon was nowhere to be seen; only his breath remained on her neck, and his aroma made her wide awake.

"Ugh! Finally." She exhaled a sigh of relief and attempted to get out of bed. She must go today. She is unsure what Jaxon will do to her if she remains here.

She first went to Morgan's room to prepare him because she can't leave her son in Jaxon's hands. That man is crazy and who knows if he can also hurt their son.

After washing him, she prepared next.

It didn't took long when they took stairs straight downstairs. She didn't see Jaxon; all she saw was Uriel directing the servant to do something. She walked towards him and bowed her head politely. "Uriel."

"Luna, Prince." Uriel smiled and looked at them. His dimple was evident. "Well, your complexion is much better than when the Alpha held you back that day. You are not as pale as before."

"Held me back?"

"Yes, the Alpha discovered you when you passed out. He brought you back from the forest without even calling. This is the first time I have seen the Alpha display his kindness and concern for someone," Uriel stated with a smile.

Kindness and concern, huh. 'Few ladies could withstand such attention but not me.' She commented on her mind. ‘That man was moody. He intended for me to die, yet he eventually saved me. Why?’

Veronica did not continue the conversation but explained, "Jaxon said he'd give me a week to find evidence. I'm leaving right now. I just came to say goodbye."

"We'll secretly send someone to observe your every step, Luna. Don't engage in unreasonable behavior, such as begging for help. It's meaningless and will irritate the Alpha." Uriel warned her, his countenance worried, for fear of upsetting the Alpha again.

'Of course! Even I survived the first time. What about the second time around?' Veronica saw his generosity and nodded, "I know, thank you. Then, I'm leaving."

Uriel didn't answer as she went to the gate with her hands empty. She woke up here and didn't even have a mobile phone on her body, so there was nothing to steal. However, before she could finally step outside, Uriel suddenly stopped her. "Luna, could you wait a minute and do me a favor?"

Veronica turned around suspiciously, and Uriel looked at her pleadingly. "What—"

Uriel didn't let her finish and took her to a kitchen downstairs. As she marched to the kitchen, she could hear Jaxon's irritated yell.

"Can't you do it with focus?! Is it so difficult to ask you to prepare some ice cream?" He hurled the spoon in the chef's face with wrath. "Who bestows these prestigious titles on you? Even a rookie chef can make better ice cream than you!"

Veronica approached the kitchen door, leaving Morgan with Uriel. A row of ice creams was on the large dining table in different forms. The senior cooks filed in, all lowered their heads, bearing the Alpha's rage, and a few trembled in fear.

"Uriel is getting old; how could he have hired a bunch of scum to work here? Fuck off!" Jaxon is in a neat suit standing opposite the dining table. He dressed like a refined gentleman, but his actions were incredibly vulgar. His personality is quite harmful and prone to violence.

"Ice cream?" Veronica grimaced. She turned to face Uriel, who was standing next to him. Uriel looked helpless at her and clasped his hands together to beg her, a melancholy look on his face. Veronica thought he was adorable and humorous when the severe and friendly guy made such a gesture.

If Jaxon were not so hard to please, Uriel wouldn't come to beg her.

"Alright. Stop doing that." Veronica couldn't say no to Uriel's request, so she curved her lips and headed toward the fierce man.

As Jaxon saw her, his red face hinted at the surprise but still chose to taunt her, "Oh... I see. You get out of bed alive."

His mouth... is poisonous. Paranoid! Well, she should bear it. She feigned not to hear the mock and replied calmly, "Would you want me to make you some ice cream, Alpha?"

"No. Probably you'll put poison on it!" Jaxon snorted coldly.

"Really? I thought you already knew that I'm the best at cooking. I'm sure even my old pack praises me for it."

"No. They won't throw you away if it's true."

Veronica gripped her fist but remained calm. "Are you sure?"

"Didn't you hear me? It irks me to look at you!" Jaxon was especially agitated when he couldn't eat the food he craved and didn't even look at her.

"Then I'll leave." She turned around and ready to take a step.

"Get fucking back and do it!"

Veronica had no choice but to turn back, when a voice boomed surprisingly before she could take a step she looked at Jaxon's face, speechless. 'This man is just... awful.'

[After a few hours]

To prevent Uriel and the innocent chefs from being scolded bloodily, Veronica made 20 large buckets of ice cream without a break, even if her body was still not recovered. She walked wobbly as she placed the final pail of ice cream on the dining table and Jaxon sat there eating ice cream lazily, making a phone call to take care of some bad news leaking about him.

She shook her head, wiped her brow, and turned to the left.

"Where are you going?" Jaxon questioned as she approached the door.

"I want to go out to collect proof of my honesty."

"Then, what should I do if I want to eat ice cream?" Jaxon gulped a large spoonful of ice cream and remarked that this was her purpose—to serve him his food.

Veronica really wants to answer him in a stylish sense, "Go fuck yourself." But, to leave, she must first pacify him, promising, "I'll prepare it for you after you eat all of it."

She looked at the ice cream on the table; there were so many buckets, enough for at least two months. By then, she had nothing to do with him. However, thinking she would leave this paranoid man… her instinct attacked again. There was a hole in her chest, imagining that she would leave him, and it seemed like her heart couldn't take it.

"I am fucking hate it." She mumbled.
