Covet Me, My Heartless Alpha Chapter 44

Veronica got home around two o'clock in the morning. There were still a few observants gathered there, gossiping about the helicopter, and she even heard her name uttered. After she heard it, she ran inside the building, fearing they would see her coat and hat. She can't tell anybody that the Alpha Jaxon arrived by helicopter at midnight for a bucket of ice cream.

“This is the truth, but who will believe it?” Veronica returned home and hastily shut the door, exhausted. Luckily, Morgan was still asleep. She had no idea what was wrong with the feng shui causing her to connect with Jaxon.

The phone that was set aside is still charging, almost wholly charged. She got the phone, switched it on, and went into the bedroom, laying on her back on the bed.

Jaxon's company created her mobile phone. Their mobile phone system is exceptionally well-designed, she must admit. It diligently manages all your data. When Veronica switched on her phone, she noticed a paragraph appear on the screen—

[Dear master, you have been gone for 15 hours and 25 minutes, during which time there have been five spam messages and 1 missed call. Do you need to call back?]

Ah. It's AI.

She has only gone for so short time yet there are already five spam text messages and one missed call.

“It's irritating.” Veronica wondered as to why Jaxon created such a statistics system. Just to irritate someone like her? Veronica scrolled down, and there are no messages except to Jaxon's messages.

"It's finish. Make another buckets."

"Come back here, Veronica!"

"Where are you now? Answer the phone!"

"Call me back!"

Veronica closed the phone and gazed at the ceiling alone. She started pondering what life did she have before she got into Jaxon's arms? Why she has no wolf? Where are her pack and why can't Jaxon tell her about it? He was just saying that she was thrown by her own father.

She turned back and buried her face in the soft duvet, concealing her frailty.

[The next day]

The light filtering through the curtains landed on the sleeping lady on the bed. Even in her sleep, her brows remained slightly furrowed, as if she couldn't shake the grief. The phone instantly vibrated, and the ringtone blasted her again and again.

"What's going on?" Veronica had been jolted awake. She stroked her unkempt hair and pressed the phone to her ear.

"Hey!"

"Jaxon?" Veronica was taken aback when she heard his voice. “You already awake?”

"You dare to escape? You placed me in this position, and you dare to flee." Jaxon shouted fiercely at her.

Veronica could almost sense Jaxon's rage over the phone; had he committed irritability again?

"I'm not running away; I'm simply returning home." Veronica worked hard to keep her voice calm.

"Within ten minutes, if you don't come here and beg for my mercy, you'll be tortured to death!"

"I—" The phone conversation was cut off just as Veronica was about to speak.

"Arghhhh!!!" Veronica yelled, full of annoyance. She stared at the phone in her palm, stunned, wondering why this bloody guy couldn't simply go. “Beg forgiveness? I didn't even tell him to finish those 20 buckets of ice cream! I don't believe that it is my fault! But why...Tsk!” Veronica hastily rose, and prepared herself and Morgan to go.

She still must go to the hospital for a check-up to verify she wasn't lying about her memory lost. Jaxon must be separated from her as quickly as possible; otherwise, this paranoia will torment her to death.

Clutching Morgan's little hand, Veronica walked outside and glanced up at the brilliant sky. She is dressed loosely and casually today. Back then, in the castle, while she was imprisoned, she couldn't move swiftly since she was obliged to wear a skirt every day.

It must be a whole new day today.

Veronica privately wishes herself luck before boarding the bus to the hospital. Rather than seeking Jaxon, she enrolled and proceeded to the department independently. Many patients are waiting on the chairs in the hallway; most of them are pregnant women.

Veronica sat in a nearby corner as she put Morgan on her lap and looked up to the big screen.

When she pondered, she realized it was Helene. She fixed her gaze on the familiar face on the TV. She was not, in fact, unattractive and not inferior to Helene in terms of facial characteristics. However, she lacks something... It's Helen's wearing beautiful eyes and her sweet attitude. If she is a grass in the corner, Helene must be a flowering flower in the sun, revealing her beauty to entice passers-by. So lovely and energetic.

‘Who wouldn’t like her? Jaxon couldn't possibly dislike her.’ Veronica smiled bitterly for no reason. She felt this kind of envy again. ‘Or perhaps... given that she is already coming in the mansion, Jaxon's love for her is already back.’

She heard about Helene to Uriel. Thinking about this now it seems so illogical...and ridiculous.

"Miss Veronica, please accompany me." A voice came from near her. It's Helene's beta secretary, Nympha.

'Is Helene in the hospital as well?' Veronica asked herself. She was shocked, rose, and departed with the woman.

Nympha led her down the gynecological hallway. They stopped before a door and motioned for her to enter, "Princess is waiting for you inside. She noticed you and wanted to speak with you."

Veronica entered by opening the door. An exquisite and slim figure stood in front of the window with her back. Helene was wearing a dress, with curling brown hair, and a lovely perfume scent in the air, in the vacant office.

"What do you need this time? Are you not tired trying to pick a fight with me?" Veronica asked softly and sighed. Her eyes went down to Morgan who seems so confused of what's happening.

"I won’t beat around the bush, Veronica.” Helene abruptly turned around. “I'm pregnant... to Jaxon's child.”

‘Pregnant…’ Veronica's body tightened unexpectedly, but she was unsurprised. Helene and Jaxon love each other. They're fated mates, and the Mood Goddess destined them for each other, so pregnancy is an inevitable conclusion.

'They are both powerful.... What power I can offer to Jaxon? Nothing.' Thinking about this, Veronica felt a fear of what will happen to Morgan and her if Jaxon chose Helene?

"You have an ashen complexion." Helene removed her sunglasses, looked at her with wide eyes, smiled gently, and continued, "Veronica, I didn't hate you for so many years. Can you let him go now?" Her voice is smooth and lovely. She reached out her hand to caress her flat tummy after the phrase. “Jaxon's child is being bred here.”

Veronica's face became pale as she studied it quietly and answered after a few seconds, "Yeah."

She must, of course, let him go. She had to let it go, no matter how tough it was for her. It's also convenient for her because she can now escape the paranoid man... but what is this feeling she is having?

Helene glanced at her, amazed and shocked. "Really?! You said yes?"

"Yeah." After so many years of entanglement, her choice to give up Jaxon would surprise everyone.

Veronica turned around and walked to the door.

One step at a time.

It's incredibly challenging.

Helene's words echoed in her ears as she approached the door: "I'm pregnant... to Jaxon's child."

'Why? Why did he have another child...when he has me and Morgan...?'
