"Am sorry!" She said, "what was that?"
"Umm... Will you be my girlfriend" he asked again, scratching his head nervously.
She could just stare at him in wonder. Wasn't he the person she met the other day? Forty-eight hours have not yet passed, and he made this astonishing request. The wind roared past them, and the day became darker as if to stare up the drama even further.
"We haven't known each other for a week?"
"But we..."
"We've barely even talked"
"We did... Yesterday"
"And you all of a sudden, want to date me?"
"I know that It sounds weird, but May I fell in love with you the first time we met..."
"Hey! Am not falling for that, first, you stole my books, stalked me, and now your here confessing your love? What the HECK is wrong with you?"
"May! Please don't treat me like this"
"We are just classmates okay! Nothing more" she finally said before walking away from him. The weather became very impatient, and rain pounded heavily.
May wrapped her arms around herself and ran across the streets hastily towards her house.
"May!!!!" A familiar voice called. She turned shivering, then a sudden warmth covered her and the shadow of an umbrella shielded her from the rain. Being a bit shorter than the person she adjusted her eyes and saw the familiar silver-blue suit that belonged to students of her school wrapped around her.
"What the butt are you doing in the rain without an umbrella" May immediately recognised the voice to be Stacey's.
"Going home!!" She replied with a smile and leaned on her in warmth.
"Do you wanna catch a cold? Silly!"
"Did you give me an umbrella?"
"Well, is your home close, or should we go to mine"
"Mine's at this corner" May replied pointing at the junction on her left.
They hurriedly ran towards May's house and banged the door.
"Oh my gosh!! Come in quickly!!" May's mother exclaimed on seeing them soaked. Keeping the umbrella upside down and closed they walked in.
May unwrapped the suit and took off her's, while her mother brought blankets long enough for them. They sat on the couch and cuddled under the blanket to warm up faster.
"Silly girl!" Stacey said shivering "y_ou shou_lda froze to death"
"Yo_u took off your__ Suit f_or m..e" May replied "Look h_ow drenched you are"
"I ran a long way wh_en I saw you from a d_distance, that's why I I'm drenched"
"Breath the s_ame t_ime with m_e_e"
"In"
"A_nd out"
"Y_ou sound funny," Stacey said with a smile. Making May giggle.
"Shut u_p" May replied leaning closer to Stacey, they stayed snuggled together while listening to the downpour outside, and the lighting and thunder played their role in the storm. May's mother hurried to the kitchen to prepare hot coffee.
"Hey, you warm?" Stacey asked after some minutes of silence.
"Yeah, but let's remain like this for now"
"Okay sure"
"Thanks," May said in gratitude glancing at Stacey's warmer smile.
"For what? Not letting you freeze to death, what are friends for"
May giggled "You're a good friend"
"Isn't the heater working, here is still cold"
"Oh sorry dear, the heater isn't functioning, it has a fault or something" May's mother replied taking a seat on the other sofa opposite them, and covering herself with a blanket.
"So, how was your day at school," Stacey asked May
"Endurable"
"I noticed you were talking to Mike," She giggled "Tell me, do you like him," she said wiggling.
"Cut it out" May replied giggling and holding Stacey together.
"There must be something wrong with that jerk" May continued.
"Jerk!!" Stacey exclaimed, "And I thought you liked him..." She continued sitting up "well if that "jerk" bothers you again, let me know so I could pound some sense into him"
May laughed pulling her back "Thanks"
"As a token of my gratitude, I will help you talk to Liam tomorrow" May whispered in her ear.
"Really!!!" Stacey exclaimed loudly "Oh, Thank you
Thank you!!!
Thank you!!" She screamed joyously, hugging May tightly and waking and waking mother up.
She just gazed at her daughter and newfound friend, giggle and cuddle up together. A smile went across her face, and tears rolled down her face. She was so glad that she was very happy and that she has found a friend and possibly a boyfriend that cares so much for her after such a long time of loneliness.
Mary woke up after what seemed like the best night of her life, and stretched her arms wide, her skin radiating with the lovely, warm, bright sun. She looked down at her legs and saw a blurry silver-blue skirt she was wearing and the other pair of legs wearing the same uniform.
"Uh! Stacey!!!" She called, shaking the still sleeping Stacey beside her.
"Yeah!!" She replied yawning, "what time is it?" She asked adjusting her magnificent green eyes on May's brown own.
"8:00(am), please tell me it's Saturday!"
"EIGHT WHAT? It's Wednesday" Stacey exclaimed jumping from the couch.
"We're late, what do we do, what do we do!!" She kept exclaiming jumping up and down and freaking out.
"Stacey calm down," she said holding her together " first to my room, let's..." She couldn't finish her sentence and Stacey dragged her running upstairs.
"Mom why didn't you wake us up" she shouted
'Sorry honey I overslept too" she responded from her room.
On reaching her room Stacey banged the door close.
"Okay, so now what do we do?" Stacey asked,
"Umm... The bathroom is over there" she replied pointing at her right.
"Is there a bathtub?"
"NO, WELL GO OR WE WILL BE LATER"
"WE WILL STILL BE LATER, THERE IS NO TIME"
"YOUR WASTING TIME SCREAMING AT ME"
"WELL, LETS BATH TOGETHER"
"WELL, THAT'S... A great idea" May replied breaking the frenzy. They both looked at the bathroom and hurriedly undressed and ran there. Within minutes they bath, and dressed up, and ran downstairs, grabbed a few cookies from the tray, and their suits that her mother has already iron, and run out of the house.
"Bye Mom!!" May screamed before banging the door shut.
"Wait," Stacey called, pulling her phone from her skirt pocket and calling her dad. Within minutes a white Limousine parked by the side of the road.
"Are you kidding me!?" May exclaimed as they got inside, to the back seat.
"We... Will be there soon" Stacey said panting heavily.
"Wow you're so rich"
"Huh? I thought you knew, how else could we afford this school"
"Oh"
"I hope you still wanna be my friend" Stacey quietly said, lowering her head nervously.
"Of course silly!! After everything you did yesterday"
"Your my best friend" May replied.
"I am?" Stacey asked, her cheeks bloomed red.
"You are!!" She replied squeezing her cheeks, they both laughed happily, then Stacey raised her hands and screamed "BEST FRIENDS FOREVER!!!".
