Days After (BDA Series book 2) Chapter 35

She searched the room but found nothing so she started following the sound of the grunts.

"There is nothing in this room so please leave."

"Shhh." Was all she said, she checked the bed and the balcony but didn't see who was making the sound, the little girl grunt louder, that's all she can do since there is a cloth in her mouth, she is probably finding it hard to breathe also.

The room service girl started moving towards the wardrobe, oh no! She searched inside the wardrobe.

"I know the sound is coming from here." O my good God, she started moving to the side of the wardrobe, she is going to check the back of the wardrobe, if she does that she'll see the girl, she reached the end of the wardrobe, was about to inspect the back of the wardrobe, this is the end, I'm going to be in do much trouble now.

Then my saviour came or should I say called, the room phone rang distracting her. I went to pick the call.

"Hello."

"This is the reception, one of the room service Lad—"

"A room service girl!" I said loudly as soon as I saw she wanted to quickly look at the back of the Wardrobe.

"She was coming to your room to clean up a broken vase, is she still there?"

"Yes she is here, and that's not all, she is harassing and accusing me of hiding an innocent child in my room, she has turned the room upside down searching for the girl, can you imagine, what sort of room service do you have?", I yelled loudly into the phone, her eyes were wide " I think she should be relieved of her duty, that will teach her a lesson." She didn't need to here the end of it, she ran and picked up and broom and pan also the dustbin nylon she put the vase in and bolted out through the door.

"Hello! Hello! Are you there ma'am?"

"Yes I am."

"I'm so sorry for the insult she threw at you its my fault."

"Its fine, make sure it doesn't happen again."

"Yes ma'am." I dropped the phone after that, thank goodness, I locked the door and went to the wardrobe, I shifted the wardrobe enough for her to squirm her way out, its not as easy as it sounds.

She got out and I was overwhelmed with the urge to give her a big hug and that's what I did, I pulled her in for a bear hug, being between the wall and a wardrobe must have been hard, her chest was pressed against the wall, breathing was hard for her, that's not a very comfortable position to be in, I removed the clothe from her mouth and untie her hands.

Her cute round face was stained with tears.

"Are you alright my dear?"

"No, my chest hurt and my hands too, I want to go to my mommy."

"That's not possibl—"

"Because she is dead!" She finished my statement for me.

"How—"

"The big scary man told me that my mom is dead because she was shot, I was there, I saw her fall limp." Why did he tell her this? He was so blunt with her, that's not right.

"Where is your daddy?"

"I don't know where his body is but I do know where his head is."

"What!!!!" Tears rolled down her eyes.

"His head was on a silver tray, decorated with fruits and flowers."

"How do you know that? Who told you that?"

"The man that shot my mom, gave me the tray and told me to eat some of the fruits decorated on my dad's head if not he'll do the same to my mom." Dario is more than a monster, he is out of control, a deranged psychopath, how could he have done this to a little girl?!!

"How old are you?"

"Six years old."

"You're so little and you've been through so much already, I'm so sorry."

"I'm scared."

"Its alright, before your mom died she asked me to take care of you and that's what I'll do."

"You mean before she was killed."

"Can you close your eyes?"

"No!"

"Why?"

"Every time I close my eyes, I see my dad's head on the tray with the—"

"Are you hungry? What do you want to eat?" I cut her off.

"Yes, I'd like noodles."

"Coming right up."

"I want my mommy, if I also die I'll be able to be with my mommy."

"No dear."

"That's what that big scary man told me."

"Don't listen to whatever that man said you, its not true, its a lie dear." That imbecile has crossed the limits, Canvas is a fool, how could he tell her all these

"Really?"

"Yes really."

"Okay." Something hit me, I'm supposed to travel tomorrow but I have only one flight ticket, I can't leave the little girl here, where is Canvas anyways?

I called room service and ordered noodles, water, juice and crab soup and rice for myself.

"So tell me about yourself, what's your name?" I asked the cute little girl.

"Belinda Kruger."

"What a cute name."

"What's your name?" She asked sweetly.

"Axymah.... Axymah Issah." Like Alero and Dinela she was unable to pronounce my name, she was also unable to pronounce it so she stuck with Adeemah.

"Are your parents from here?"

"Yes, but I don't wish to stay here any longer."

"That's good, so you can go to Nigeria with me."

"What's a Nigeria?"

"Its a country like California but there are lots of black people there."

"Oh, my dad is a black man and my mom is a white girl." Oh that explains her complexion, she has the type of my foster mom's complexion.

"Okay so are you the only child of your parents?"

"I wasn't until a week ago, my baby sister died of cancer."

"My God!!!"

"Mom cried for weeks."

"That's so painful, how old was she?"

"She was turning three."

"Oh, so sorry."

"Hmm."

"Let's talk about something else, happy things."

"Like what?"

"What makes you happy?"

"Going to the beach with my parents and watching the sunset."

"O my, uhm."

"You're doing a bad job at trying to change the topic and cheering me up."

"Hey at least I'm trying."

"Try harder, I'm this close to crying and collapsing again." She's a smart one.

"What's your favorite colour?"

"Pink."

"So I'm guessing you love Barbie."

"Yes, I totally adore Barbie, my mo—"

"So how many Barbie cartoons have you watched?" I quickly cut her off before she mentioned her mom, she'll need therapy when we get back.

"Tons of them."

"Tell me about your favorite one."

"Okay so my favorite Barbie cartoon is Ba—" a knock on the door interrupted her.

"Who's it?"

"Room service."

"One sec." I told Belinda as I got up to open the door, this one is a male thankfully, if it were the same girl that came earlier she would have questioned Belinda being here, she would have asked how and stuffs like that.

"Your food."

"Thank you, put it over there on the table."

He did that and turned to me.

"Anything else ma'am?"

"No, you may leave." He left and I shut the door behind him.

"Our food is here, come let's eat." We both sat on the couch, I gave her her noodles and I ate my food, we both ate in silence.

"This noodles is really good tastes like the one my mo—"

"I know right, even this crab soup is the best I've ever tasted it's really good." I know what she was about to say, "....like the one her mom makes," so I cut her off.

"Really?"

"Yes, want to have a taste?"

"Yes please." I fed her a couple spoons and also some crab.

"Do you like it?"

"No," she said and my smile turned to a frown "I love it." I went from frowning back to smiling in a second.

We both continued eating our food, she ate some of my food too, she is so cute, such a lovely girl.

We both finished eating, I called room service to come take the plates away.

"I hope you both enjoyed your meal?"

"Yes, it was really tasty." Bel said grinning ear to ear.

"That's good." He left with our plates, I checked the time, its almost 5:00am, I completely lost track of time, time really sure flies really quickly.

"Do you want to take a shower?"

"Yes please, but I don't have anything to change into other than what I'm wearing." She is wearing an off shoulder, short flay flower gown, I didn't even notice her dress.

"It's really pretty."

"Yes my da—"

"So no shower then, we'll live for Nigeria in a couple hours." How are we both going to get to Nigeria now, she doesn't have a flight ticket.

"What's that over there?" She asked pointing towards one of the legs of the table in front of the couch, let's find out......
