" What on earth?" Even the commander lost his calm, it took thousands of bullets to hurt the worm.
But at the very least the bullets could pierce through its skin but what was this? High calibre bullets just bounced off this thing’s scales.
Not even titanium was that strong, there was not even a scratch on the scales. The lizard turned its massive head towards the dead worm.
The lizard was huge standing at 2.4 metres tall and over 5 metres long not counting the sword like horn.
It started walking with steady steps towards the worm. " Abandon the truck." He ordered, the driver got off and ran to another truck.
The lizard placed its leg on the back of the truck and it tilted over, the worm fell off and it started eating it.
" Sir, what do we do?"
" Leave it be, we can’t afford to provoke something like this, it’s beyond us." He also reported it back to base.
They felt the truck with the lizard and worm and drove off but made sure to keep watch behind them.
A few minutes later they saw a cloud of dust and sand flying towards them like a sandstorm.
" Shit, it’s coming back!" They shouted and stood ready too confront it.
When it got within 50 metres the fired, red streaks pierced through the sandstorm and sparks ignited within.
They could hear the bullets hitting its scales but they were ineffective. " Use the harpoon guns."
There were only three harpoon guns left and they all fired at the same time but the harpoons bounced off its scales like the bullets did.
They fired grenades at it but nothing worked, they couldn’t even slow it down. ’ We should’ve brought more ammo.’
The leader gritted his teeth, this monster was too much for them to withstand. Before long it caught up.
Its sword horn cut the back of a truck causing it to fall, the soldiers inside were lucky enough to survive.
But before they could celebrate it was already upon them, it crushed one with its foot and bit the other in half.
The soldiers continued firing at it even though they knew the bullets were ineffective.
But they were panicking and no longer thinking straight, helicopters circled above them.
" Do it." He ordered and the helicopters carpeted the area with bombs, flames blazed covering dozens of metres around the lizard.
" Drive." Instead of stopping to check he ordered his soldiers to continue driving. Engines roared.
The flames cleared and the lizard appeared with burnt marks on its scales. It looked at the helicopter and hissed.
It jumped trying to but it but it could barely jump 25 metres high which was beyond impressive but it still couldn’t reach the helicopter.
Seeing it couldn’t reach the strange thing above it, it chased after the trucks. The helicopters dropped bomb after bomb at it.
The desert was littered with craters and flames but they barely slowed down the lizard.
It jumped into another truck crashing it down, in a blink of an eye it had devoured the two soldiers.
Seeing this the other grinded their teeth in rage but there was nothing they could do, their weapons were ineffective against it.
Another truck was crushed a few seconds later, seeing his soldiers dwindling the leader made up his mind.
They couldn’t outrun this thing nor could they kill it, at this rate they would lead this monster back to base.
" Well, it seems this is it, it has been an honour serving with you, let go with a bang."
The soldiers understood, they weren’t surviving through this, the trucks turned and splits up.
The lizard stopped then started chasing after one of them. " Come you ugly bastard!" The soldiers in the truck shouted.
The lizard jumped and they crawled out at the same time. The truck was crushed under the lizard’s weight.
It turned its attention towards them, a soldier took her grenades and pulled the pins, with a roar she lunged at the lizard.
Her intentions were clear, she wanted to jump into its mouth and explode inside it taking them both to the underworld.
However her plans were crushed, the lizard swiped her with it claw sending her flying dozens of metres through the air.
BOOOOOM, a shockwave spread out as her grenades exploded, her partner raised his gun to shoot.
A tail flashed from the side faster than his eye could see, he looked down and saw his own legs.
His body had been cut in half with the top half sailing through the air. After killing those two chased another truck.
’ This is a fucken game to it.’ the leader grinded his teeth, his soldiers were dying one after another.
The thing killing them seemed to be just having fun. It wasn’t long before it reached the next truck.
It killed the soldiers in seconds, now with only two trucks left, the leader knew things were over.
He had already sent a request to bombard this place with missiles, they needed to do whatever it took to kill this thing.
He was told to hold it back for a few minutes but looking at their situation, that was clearly impossible.
The lizard chased after his truck, he was ready to die but he wasn’t going to die lying down.
" Ahhhhhh!" He roared ready to jump off and lung at it but before he could he saw a flash and the lizard was sent flying.
The trucks stopped, they looked back and saw a woman standing where the lizard had been.
The massive creature flew for dozens of metres and crashed on the sand creating a wave of sand.
The woman looked at it then at her hand before looking back. " Strange, I don’t feel like I hurt it."
She spoke softly, before they could wonder if she was crazy another person appeared. It was a man in his 30’s.
The of them looked so good they could put models to shame. The man merely smiled at her.
" Really interesting isn’t it, while it’s a new born awakened Gadra, it seems it has already developed a bloodline ability.
It lacks resemblance to its former species, should we really kill it, I wonder?"
" I saw it murdering these guys and thought I should land a hand but we could leave if you want." She replied.
Hearing her the remaining soldiers panicked, they didn’t know who these two were but they were the first to be able to even harm this thing.
" Excuse me, may I have the honour of knowing who you are?" The leader asked.
The man turned towards him with a bored expression. " No." He answered flatly before turning to address his partner.
’ What the hell are these two, they can’t possibly be human, no human is that strong.’ he thought to himself.
