Devil Equinox Chapter 72

Ravedos and Origus stared each other down in the hallway with rubble around both. Standing a good distance from each other, – about fifteen metres – the demon transformed into the disgusting creature he was. The demon-angel noticed and ran toward the demon with his sword in his right hand, the tip being dragged on the floor.

A large hand swung in the direction of the demon-angel. He reacted quickly at a short range, going under the hand and slid after dodging the attack.

Noticing the movement the demon fully transformed into the giant demon beast to fight him off.

Undeterred, he decided to use more strength to attack the tough skin and thrusted his sword into the side of the beast just after the front leg on its left side. It shrieked in pain and viciously swung its clawed leg to attack him.

He let go of the sword, dodge the claws and countered with a gnarly uppercut to the jaw with his gauntlets. The beast went up a few levels above from their current floor. Wires were exposed from those floors, pipes relieved of pressure and leaking fluids. The fluids were two distinct colours blue and red.

The red fluid was thick and viscous, slowly dripping from the pipes. While the blue fluid was as thick as water, dripped fast and had an unbearable smell.

Both fluids fell on Captain both he ignored them and focused his gaze above. He thought to himself how he would get up to where the best was. 'Should I jump toward him and shortly fall due to gravity?' he paused. 'Or should I fly up to it? No what if that is what he wants!'

Undecided he did what seemed logical to him. Walking away. That would draw out the enemy and give him the chance to relax.

Unknowingly that chance never came to be.

He had sensed a strong power earlier and followed it, now it was coming to him. A few steps away he stopped and pondered why he feels this power even he was near Origus. 'Maybe it isn't him but someone else. Who may that be?'

Standing in the middle of the hallway a figure walked up to him. A slim figure with frail features. The face was defined like a well sculpted statue with the cheeks chiselled to show depth, the lips thin and long but pale. Hair length ending by their upper back.

She was small but she was almost his height. She wasn't dressed, walking with barren feet on the cold tiled marble floor. Every step she made were short strides toward him. The light that she walked under were dim but her skin glistened, nonetheless.

"Are you lost?" he asked her.

Her stunning blue eyes stared deep into his. Tilting her head curiously. She was observing him, mentally noting his posture and movements.

Then she looked up and saw the other above crouched down grinning.

She then looked back at the one who spoke. "Your power is unusual. What are you?" she asked in a soft and caring voice.

Hearing those words, he took a step back and his eyes narrowed. 'She is the source of this immense power!' he thought to himself. Subconsciously, his body was prepared for an attack.

Origus returned down onto the floor. Landing gracefully. He slowly walked behind her, placing his hands on her slim shoulders. He leaned his head toward her ear and whispered.

Visually he was injured, wounded and bruised. Slowly healing from the wounds, he removed his hands off her shoulders stepped back and said, "Hope you two get to know each other," with a sly smirk. Then he disappeared into another hallway.

She kept her gaze on me. I rushed after him. I tried to turn the corner, but my legs weren't responding. They stopped moving and gave out under me. I hit the floor hard and looked back at my legs.

Blood was spreading on the floor as I looked in horror. She cut me in half but how.

I used my arms to move across the floor while leaving behind my lower half.

Through the pain my Mind was coming up with solutions but one thing that it repeated was use the gun. I rolled over with my gun in my hand, aimed at the female but she wasn't there. I scanned the hallway for her, but I couldn't visibly see her.

"Use the gun!" my Mind shouted in my head. Use it on who? I did not know but it seemed the only person to use it on was myself.

Pointing the gun against my head, I pulled the trigger.

My opened my eyes and saw Origus standing behind the female leaned into her ear. Her eyebrows rose; she was perplexed.

"What are you?" she said calmly. Confused, Origus looked toward me and noticed that I wasn't stuck in the trance he wanted me in.

I rushed toward and hit the female in the gut with my gauntlet. She was extremely dangerous, but she wasn't hostile. They flew toward the wall at the end of the hallway, but she landed back on her feet while Origus transformed into his beast form.

Charging at me, I stood still and the villain de-transformed and punched me square in the face. As I slid back, I felt a hand on my back. "It is your turn to fly," a soft voice spoke.

A force thrusted me forward, flying. I used my sword to stop myself and anchor myself to the floor. I dragged my sword along with myself to slow down. I looked up and the demon was by my face. His hand pushed me down with all his force.

In pain, I tried to get up but I was pinned down by his foot. I looked him in his eyes. They were empty and soulless. "I do Amelia a favour and this is what happens?" he questioned. "I witnessed your death. I was right beside her,"

He held my sword by the hilt. It was too heavy for him to pick. "Live!" a voice echoed loudly in my head. My head started shaking, he looked at me and his eyebrows furrowed.

My gun materialized in my hand, and it was pointed at his right leg. "Get away from him!" the soft voiced female shouted. He looked back at her and I shot his leg. He felt pain and then quickly tried to grab my neck. I rolled out of the way, aimed at him, shot his other leg and his chest.

Then immediately aimed at the other one and shot my round at her head.

He stumbled back and I got up on my feet. I then tackled him on to the ground and pounded his head into the floor.

I was forced of off him by her power. Stopping myself from sliding any further back.

She looked like she her emotionless face was starting to enjoy what she was doing, enjoying her powers. "You have given me such joy!" she spoke exhilarated. "I haven't felt such emotion before,"

"Shut up you bitch and help me!" Origus shouted.

Her face went pale and her expression vanished. "Yes master," she said lifelessly like a machine.

The beast in him came out once more and attacked me. He swung his right arm; I dodged under it and slashed behind his leg. Unfairly, I was facing two strong foes, and it wasn't easy to dodge both.

I quickly turned and pulled the trigger aiming for her head. Then I stabbed the beast in the gut and sliced through its flesh. It screamed so loud that it attracted an unwelcome guest.

Laying on the ground, using his strength to get away from me, he left a trail of his own blood. I slowly walked behind him. I knelt beside me and tried to ambush me with his tentacle. Moving out of the instinctively, I then shot him in the back.

I lost myself and stabbed him in the back. "You were always pathetic compared to your brother!" I told him unashamed of my words. "He fought better than you, he was closer to me than he would ever be to you. A piece of shit like you doesn't deserve to criticise my actions."

Spitting on his face, I stood up and stabbed him in the back. He screamed and shouted a name, Celine. I looked back and saw the female on her knees, dull facial expression on her face and tears streaking down her cheek. She had a bullet wound in the middle of her forehead.

"Tell me your name before I help you!" she shouted emotionally.

"Captain," I told her.

"I want your real name," she said.

I pondered for some time and told her the name she wanted to know. Unexpectedly she pulled my sword toward herself, the tip facing herself and it impaled her head. She killed herself, her body laid lifeless and she seemed to have found peace.

Origus was devastated, enraged he impaled my arm with another tentacle and flooded it with his blood. I cut off the tentacle and stomped him in the back.

Meanwhile a cool breeze slowly moved toward us. I had to leave knowing that the Metallis was on its way and was nearby. "You can't leave me here!" he cried out. However, he deserved it.

After that I had looked around the maze-like sub-level until I found them resting on the floor exhausted. I got close them, to only feel an excruciating pain in my left arm. His blood wasn't mixing with mine and it led to it burning inside, destroying my cells. Knowing what to do, I cut off my arm from the elbow.

Breathing hard, jaw clenched I only dealt with part of the problem. Blood was flowing out my arm, and I had to deal with the wound. Marie rushed up to me and set me down, took out a cloth and tied it on my bicep and tore off part of her shirt and used it as makeshift bandage for my arm.

"Fuck, you look rough," Dante said smirking. "Did he do all that to you?"

I winced a bit. "He wasn't alone." I stated. "Had another with him. Strong too."

Dante whistled. "They did all of that to you. Guess you aren't as tough as you seem." Dante teased.

"Shut the fuck up will you!" Donny cut in irritated. "Captain, we gotta get out of here,"

"Yeah, you're right. Where is Veronicah?" I spoke.

Marie tied the bandage tightly and spoke, "She is dead." Then slowly stood on her feet. Donny and Dante were quiet.

I stood on my feet with my bandaged arm. Leaving the hallway to get into the elevator. They felt remorse but they didn't want to continue the conversation, clearly upset at the fact.

We had made it to the top floor and were met with armed soldiers who were waiting for us. "Step out the elevator and throw away your weapons!" one commanded us.

I stepped out of the elevated my arm raised. While team did as they were told and raised their hands.

A familiar figure walked in front of the soldiers. Marvin Mynde stood in front of them and spoke, "Captain, I am here to get and your team. You are all under arrest by the government!"

Looking into his eyes he didn't like what he was ordered to do. Yet he had to complete his task. Marvin what changed your mind on me?
