Ebony's Fable chronicles the abrupt end of a predictable life for its young protagonist. Ebony, accustomed to a quiet existence moving toward a secure, pre-determined future, experiences his carefully planned trajectory dissolving in a single moment. Though his adolescence was shaped by peculiar events, it had eventually settled into a predictable routine. Now, on the verge of adulthood with a guaranteed future and a life largely untouched by hardship, Ebony is plagued by a profound boredom. His only refuge is found in his disciplined daily training, a lifelong habit, and in the escapist worlds of fantasy novels, where magic and combat offer a sense of purpose his own life lacks. This routine existence is shattered one unremarkable afternoon as he returns from a routine part-time job.
