Ella grins widely in satisfaction the moment I mentioned she would duel with Carol. I can't help but laugh at how amusing she looks, wondering if she has forgotten the person she's about to fight is a Zeta who has many years of experience in
fighting.
I've never seen anyone so happy to get beaten in my life. I'm not saying Carol would easily beat Ella, no! In fact, I have confidence in Ella's fighting skills. She won't be on my team if I don't believe in her. I just don't get how she could be this happy to be in a fight she's not assured of winning.
'This woman is a General for crying out loud, Ella. She has years of experience more than you and still, you're happy to fight her? Aren't you scared?' I asked her through our mind link
'Scared?...' she chuckles. 'As big as Ivar is, I wasn't scared to kick his ass the first time we met...'
'You really need to stop saying that at every opportunity you got babe. I keep telling you, you didn't kick my ass, I let you win. Would you have ever forgiven me if I had beaten you up that day?' Ivar replies to his mate. Before they start to squabble through the group link I quickly put an end to the conversation.
'Alright, alright guys, no bickering! Let's concentrate on the matter at hand.'
Carol also laughed, even though it's obvious from her surly expression afterward that she doesn't find the idea of her fighting with Ella funny.
"An Omega!? Really!? You want me, a Zeta of the biggest pack in North America to duel with your Omega?" She says in disbelief
I shrug
"Well, aside from the fact that she's a woman like you, I also thought she's more of your size but if you feel you're too important to duel with an Omega then you can pick whoever you feel you can fight with among my men. Just be fast about it so we can get this over with"
Henrik had walked in earlier while we were talking. I watch the fear in her eyes as she quickly skips from one man to the other before coming back to rest on Ella. Even though I have never seen her fight and have no idea how skillful she is, at that moment, I realize despite her rank and experience, she would have a very hard time beating Ella.
It's obvious she doesn't have enough confidence in herself and I wonder if the Silver-Moon pack had ever been to war with another pack apart from the usual rouges that every pack always had to fight off.
"Okay, I'll go with her, let's do this then!" She replies to me with her eyes on Ella.
"Yes!" Ella excitedly punches her fist in the air. Smirking triumphantly even when the fight has not even started. Knowing her, I know she will still laugh it off even if she loses the fight. That's the confidence I'm talking about.
"Okay, do you have anyone that you would like to call?" I ask her.
She laughs
"Why would I want to call someone?... Oh, is it so you can get someone to take me back home after your Omega is done beating me senseless?" She asks, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
I ignore her attitude
"No. It's so you will have someone in your corner that will make sure the fight is fair."
Her eyes widened with surprise at my words. I see she can't believe a barbarian brute like me would want a fair fight for her.
"Hurry it up and meet us on the field, we still have pack matters to discuss if you win the duel." I say as I make my way out of the hall.
"So what do you think of her?" I ask Eric when we walk out of the conference room.
"What do I think?... She's Drew's wife! The Drew that betrayed your dad and made them tag you with the name murderer. She's also Evelyn's friend. Do I need to remind you who Evelyn is?"
"No, I don't need you to remind me of anything Eric, what's your point?"
"Why do I have the feeling that you would give her the position anyway no matter who wins the fight"
"Exactly what I'm planning to do. You don't think it's a good idea?"
"She's an executive of the pack that commands a bunch of warriors. She came rushing down when we called, and even though I didn't believe her when she said she wouldn't allow her grudge against you to come between her and her duties to the pack. I agree It's best to keep her close to us.
But damn she's a good actress. She's full of shit but seemed so sincere I would have believed her if she was not Drew's mate and Evelyn's friend."
"Yeah... She might be Evelyn's spy or a lone ranger harboring the idea of avenging the alleged death of her mate."
"I agree... keep your friends close and your enemies closer. She needs to be kept on a very tight leash."
The field had bleachers built on it. I don't know why but the images of Justin and his friends playing soccer here when they were kids suddenly come to mind. Apart from killing my loved ones. Evelyn deprived me of so many things when I was a kid. I can't wait to watch her and the whole of her family suffer for their evil deeds.
Like the rest of my men, Eric and I pick a seat and watch Carol walk in our direction with her phone glued to her ear. When she's done talking, she walks up to us...
"I called my daughter, she'll be here in five minutes. Hope you don't mind the little delay?" she says and without waiting for my reply, walks away toward the bleachers that are on the other side of the field away from us.
Some minutes later, Eric whispers into my ear...
"Oh wow Thor, check this out"
I look up from the map of the pack that I'm studying on an iPad to him...
"Check what out?" I ask, looking around me till my eyes drift towards where Carol is sitting

"Yeah, that..." He whispers again.
Standing with Carol is a very beautiful girl with ash blond hair that cascades down her back. I look from Eric to the girl and back to Eric again
"Please man don't tell me you're going wild over her essence. Don't tell me you smell your mate in her?" I ask. I can't imagine having Drew's daughter as a sister-in-law
"Yeah... God, man! She smells so good, just like mate. I can tell that she's certainly my mate. Oh, Moon goddess! I can't wait to have her in my bed, damn she's beautiful." He continues to say with his eyes fixed on the girl who was also looking from her mother to us.
"Are you shitting me right now?" I ask since it seems to me like he's joking with me.
"Shitting you about what? That she's my mate or that I would like to have her in my bed?" He asked
I get the answer to my question then and exhale in relief
"Boy! Am I glad she's not your mate! And you better forget about having her in your bed, she's Drew's daughter!"
"Aww, c'mon dad! You can't stop me from being with whoever I want to be with?" He grumbles jokingly making me roll my eyes upward in amusement
"Behave please, they're coming our way. And remember, I'll kill you if you as much as wink in her direction.
