"You think she's telling the truth about not being friends with Evelyn? You believed her sob story?" I ask
"Honestly, I'm not sure. But what if it's not a sob story? What if they used to be friends? I know for sure that Uncle Knox couldn't be wrong about the two of them ever being friends with each other.
Females of all beings are created to be petty-minded, you know. Most of them care too much about small, unimportant things. And being unnecessarily unkind to each other is usually not that big a deal to them. They would betray their friendship to each other within the blink of an eye if they see something more beneficial to them..."
"You are right about that," I say, nodding as I reason with him.
"Here's what I think– Evelyn and Carol, the Alpha and Beta's mates used to be friends. By law, the Beta is supposed to take over the control of the pack whenever the Alpha is indisposed but when the old Alpha fell ill, Evelyn, the Luna refused to allow the Beta to take over.
She'd always wanted her son to be the Alpha and refused to allow the golden opportunity that just presented itself through the Alpha's illness to be passed to someone else, not even if he was the Beta and her friend's mate.
She explained to her friend, Carol, to help speak with her mate, Drew the Beta to step down for Justin but Carol who also wanted her husband to be in control of the pack even if it's just for a few months refused to understand. I can imagine her quoting the law for Evelyn as to why it couldn't be done.
The two of them had a fallout because of that and Evelyn went over her head to meet all the executives for their support. So guess who the executives would support?...
Drew was a nobody who was brought into the pack and trained as a Sentinel by the previous Beta and his mate. Carol, who was born into the pack, was equally not that important. l mean, she just came from a long line of warriors compared to Evelyn who is Original. A descendant of House Denton.
We already know that the executives picked Evelyn and Justin over Carol of course... They were all in cahoots from the beginning. All the Executives, Evelyn and Justin are all together in this conspiracy. They allowed the raid on the pack to frustrate Uncle Knox into quickly handing over the reins of the pack to Justin.
Maybe Carol decided she no longer wanted to be part of the plan after they betrayed her mate by voting against him. She was happy their old plan was thwarted when the fence was erected and refused to cooperate with them ever since. That was why they all voted to take the border away from her. Of course, she couldn't just go and confess the truth to the Alpha, that's treason. She would be put to death alongside them.
The only thing left for her to do was to wait and pray for the return of the first son, Thor. Even though she was told that you killed the Alpha and her mate, she had no other choice than to switch sides when she saw how you beat Justin in the duel.
She hates you for killing her mate and Alpha but she needs to think about her future and the future of her daughter who hasn't found her mate yet. Their future isn't guaranteed with Evelyn and Justin ruling the pack.
The end"
Eric finished with his theory and I exhaled when I realized the scenario he painted might be right.
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend," He says and chuckles
"Yeah... It is sometimes necessary to cooperate with a person one does not like or agree with, to combat a common threat, isn't that right?"
"Exactly my point..." He replies
"Yeah... But there's still a tiny little chance that we might be wrong about her, you know?" I say, looking him straight in the eyes
"Yes... There's that tiny little chance that we might be wrong. That is why we have to tread carefully with her. We don't want to make enemies of warriors who would have been good allies."
"Yes, she and her warriors will surely come in handy if this issue between Evelyn and I escalates into some kind of civil war. But we don't know which is the truth yet."
"Yes. I guess the truth will reveal itself with time." Eric says
"In the meantime let's arrange for the arrest of some traitors, brother," I say and he instantly agrees with me
"Yes, let's."
He unlocks his phone again but instead of going ahead to make the arrangements, he looks at me and asks...
"What are we going to do about the executives that didn't show up for the meeting? Especially the heads of the other three patrol groups and Gamma chief?"
"Well, they're no longer executives of this pack. They made that clear enough when they refused to come for the executive meeting. They disobeyed a direct order from their Alpha and must bear the consequences. The head of the other three patrol teams and the seven Elders that represent the pack at the Council will of course be banished from the pack... Who are the three executives heading the other patrol teams? Tell me about them"
"Well, we have five executives in charge of pack security...
Cyrus is the Gamma chief. He and his Gammas manned the three entrances to the pack.
Zachary is an elder and he's the head of the northern patrol.
Silas is also an elder and he's the head of the south
Lindsey our little traitor is for the east of course
And Carol here is the west."
"Okay. As I said before, Lindsey and her team are to be placed under arrest. That means we're left with Cyrus, Zachary, and Silas. These wolves are two Elders and a Gamma chief with powerful influences on the pack. We have to do something about them before they sabotage all our efforts or worse, instigate a civil war." I say
"You're right," he replies, "So what do you intend to do about the Gamma chief and the other two Elders for now?"
I beckon to Bear and Henrik to move closer to us
"I want you both to go to the pack's Council police precinct to oversee some arrests for me. All the details will be sent to your phone, Henrik, and the police chief will be waiting for you by the time you get there. I'll give him a call myself."
"Yes General," They both say and immediately leave
"That's that," I say and turn my gaze back to Eric...
"Send emails to all members of patrol. They must be here in thirty minutes. That is if they still value their jobs..." I stop mid-sentence when I hear Ella's voice shout...
"Hey, what do you think you're doing? Put that down now!"
Eric and I look in her direction and see her glaring at Carol.
