Out of the corner of my eyes, I see another wolf charging towards me. This one is much bigger and faster than the first one that came at me. I immediately chuck the one I'm holding by the neck aside. The moment the unconscious wolf drops to the floor, he shifts back to his human form as he lay unconscious on the ground.
When I look up, the wolf I saw from my peripheral vision is now so near I quickly take a couple of steps back, reflexively putting my left arm up to protect my face from being chomped down on. He latches on to my arm instead. But before he can rip out a chunk of my flesh, I punch him hard on his temple and he immediately goes limp.
It was then I noticed that the barrage of gunshots had stopped. Eric and Ella must have gotten to the shooters on time, thank goddess. I look down at my arm and see that even though the bite wound is deep, I heave a sigh of relief when I see I was able to prevent that part of my flesh from being ripped out by that beast.
I have survival kits kept inside all the cars I own. I hurry back to the car because I need to get the wound cleaned and disinfected as soon as possible. I'm still feral. A wolf's bite wound that is not properly cared for might make me go rabid in no time.
As I arrive at my car, I see Eric and Ella coming out of their side of the woods. Ella comfortably had a full-grown man thrown over her shoulder while Eric had two. One is over his shoulder while the other is being dragged with his foot.
I forget for a moment what I was going to the car to do and move toward them to help Eric with the one he's dragging when they see my injured hand...
"Oh, goddess! General, you're bleeding heavily!" Ella exclaims and unceremoniously dumps the shifter she has over her shoulder on the ground.
"Oh my god, Thor! What the hell! Eric says and also drops the one he's carrying alongside Ella's.
"What do you think you're doing walking around when you're supposed to take care of that immediately? It might get infected and you might go rabid as a result of that. Don't you know!" He says with concern.
"Yeah. Sorry, Dad!" I joke and he shakes his head in annoyance
Ella hurries toward the car and brings out my survival backpack, putting it on the car's trunk. While she's bringing out everything she will need to treat my arm, Eric starts making a video of my injury and at the same time explaining the situation around us...
"The Alpha of Silver-Moon pack was attacked today by some of his pack Gammas..."
While he's talking and making the video, Ella opens a bottle of water and first wash off the wound. After washing off the blood, she opens the first aid box she already placed on the trunk and brings out a disinfectant. She pours a generous amount of disinfectant over the wound to get rid of any bacteria that might have lodged inside from the wolf's teeth.
Finally, she takes a cotton bud and applies an antibiotic ointment on it before smearing it all over the wound.
"It will be able to heal fine now, yes?" She asks when she's done and in reply, I point to the edges of the wound that's already closing up.
"It's healing already, see..."
"Do I need to cover it with a bandage?" she asks again, looking intently at my arm and I shake my head
"No, there's no need for that, it's healing already," I say and look toward Eric. I'm glad he's making the video. Now I have a real reason to kill them if I have to. No one will be able to guilt trip me then"
Ella packs up the survival backpack and puts it back in the trunk while I bring out another bag that contains my weapons and other stuff that are very dangerous to werewolves. From inside the bag, I brought out five silver handcuffs and a packet of dried belladonna plants.
Even though my team trained with silver and other stuff that is dangerous to werewolves all the time. I know Ella still struggles with some of them. I threw one of the handcuffs at her, she caught it mid-air and immediately let it drop from her hand to the ground.
"Fucking hell, that shit burns!" She complains, her face contorted in pain.
"After all these years training with us, you should be used to it already," I say, looking at her with a raised brow.
"Pick it up, we need to secure these bastards before we go find out what's holding Ivar and Timothy," I say as I walk towards where she and Eric unceremoniously dumped the unconscious Gammas.
Eric finished recording the scene and returned to the car to keep his phone. As I bend to turn one of the Gammas face down so I can handcuff his hands behind his back, I hear Ella mumble under her breath in displeasure as she goes to pick up the handcuff I commanded her to pick up...
"How in hell did Ash manage to wear this all day long and still manage to stay alive "
'Ash?...'
I pause from what I'm doing and repeat the name in my mind. That name again? There's no way I would have heard what she said under her breath if my wolf's senses hadn't been turned on.
I remember when Eric first mentioned the name with my mate and immediately covered my question with another question when I questioned him about it.
'Ash... Ash...' I'm still repeating the name over and over in my mind when Eric squats in front of me.
"Hey, what are you doing? Are you going to use that?" He asks, indicating to the silver handcuff that I'm clutching in my hand.
"Where did your mind wander to? How could you not notice the silver is burning your hand? What were you thinking about?"
"Nothing..." I replied and continued with what I was doing. I was so deep in thought I didn't feel the pain of the silver burning into my palms.
"Cyrus is not among these men," Eric says as we finish snapping the last handcuff around the wrist of the last Gamma
"Yeah, I can tell," I say, looking to the front towards the tall guard houses standing on each side of the heavy gate. I wonder what's going on there. Why has no vehicle passed since? Did the Gammas deliberately hold off the traffic?
"Ivar... Timothy? Report in..." I called through our mind link and waited for their answer but none came. Instead, the huge gate automatically swings inside as it opens
