Fated Tó The Evil Viking Chapter 131

It happened all of a sudden. I wasn't really paying attention to the road because my mind was preoccupied. That was why I wasn't able to see what I hit or should I say what hit me. I only saw a blur. A furry, huge, powerful, and very fast blur.

The impact my car made with the beast was jarring but I managed to maintain control of the car in the little time that it took me to swerve to the right and straight into the woods, where I smashed into a big tree.

I feel stunned. It takes me a couple of seconds to gather my wits about me. The moment my head feels clear enough, my mind screams,

'ambush! You need to get moving, Eric! This might be a very dangerous situation!'

And as if realization just hit me, I repeated to myself; 'this might be a very dangerous situation, Eric. You need to call Thor and warn him that the pack is under attack!'

I look at the passenger's seat where I left my phone and realize it's no longer there. It might have fallen off the chair when the car smashed into the tree. Even though I'm almost at the gate, I know I can't make a run for it. It's still quite a distance away on foot.

"Fuck!" I swear loudly as I undo my seat belt. I bend to frantically feel around under the chair for my phone but I can't reach it.

"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" I continue to swear and search till Jet's voice sounds a warning...

"You're wasting precious time! If you can't find your phone then leave it and get moving! You don't want us to be cornered in your car do you?"

"Nope, I don't!..." I say out loud when I realize he's right.

I don't know if I'm being ambushed by shifters from this pack, all I know is, it would be stupid of me if I think I can fight them all by myself since there's no way for me to tell how many there are that are lying in ambush for me.

The woods are in pitch darkness so I switch to my wolf's vision before I open the car door...

"Rouges!.." Jet growls out within me the moment I inhale the pungent rotten odor every shifter had come to associate with the rouges. He wants to come out and battle with the rogues but I restrain him within me.

Rogues attack in throngs. What I need to get out of there alive is not the brute force my wolf can offer, that would be dangerous for Jet and me if I have many of these motherfuckers clawing and tearing at him at once.

What can get me out of there alive or hold them off long enough for me to get to the pack is tactical planning and calculated skill, which I can only achieve in my human form. I'm not bragging or anything like that, the fact is, apart from Thor, I have never met a shifter who can beat me at hand to hand combat.

I understand human anatomy and I know the right place to hit that can kill or cripple a couple of shifters in their human form all at once. But will I be able to battle wolves in my human form? One or two wolves maybe. Fighting throngs of them in human form is Thor's specialty.

Before I abandon the car, I open the glove compartment and bring out the serrated edge karambit knife I took from Uncle Knox's workshop. The karambit is a perfect knife for silent killing. It can slice deep into flesh with ease and the curved and serrated edges on the silver blade make it a deadly and dangerous weapon that can hook and snag at sensitive organs like the intestine, making the person suffer a slow and painful death.

I slide my index finger into the safety ring of the knife with the tip facing away from my body before closing my fingers around the handle to create a firm grip. I wish I had two of them with me to finish these bastards off quickly but since there's only one, I'll make good use of it.

The moment I get out of the car and see three of them crashing into the woods towards me, I need not think about it before I know it's time for me to run. I can't face them head-on. They are three wild-looking wolves against my human form. What if they're rabid?

Jet can outrun them of course but I can't just run back to the pack looking like a coward. Even if I need backup to fight these rogues, I'm still a warrior and I have to look for a way to kill these miscreants without allowing them to leave a scratch on me. This is the type of situation that calls for tactical planning and calculated skill.

My speed is no match for Jet's but I was a star athlete during my high school days and even though I'm older now, I still have some juice left in me. I run hard and fast, weaving through trees and crashing into thickets that tear at my clothes and scrape my skin until I arrive at a clearing with a large woodpile in the middle.

Without breaking speed, I run up the woodpile and pivot back behind the wild beasts chasing me. They didn't see that coming. By the time they realize what is happening and double back towards me, I've swiftly cut them open with their guts and blood spilling out on the dirt ground.

They crash to the ground beside each other. I wait for about five seconds, watching them take their last breath as they shift back to their human form. All three are males. Before leaving, I want to make sure they are dead and won't be sneaking up behind me later. They're dead alright. It's easy to tell from their open, blank eyes, sightless toward the moonless sky.

I resume running through the woods. I don't know how these rogues intend to penetrate the pack, that is why I have to arrive at the gate before them. After some seconds, I start to hear their angry growls and howls behind me again. And from the heavy sound of their paws pounding on the ground and their furious growls, I know they've discovered the still-warm bodies of their comrades.

I run out of the woods when I'm almost at the gate shouting...

"Rouges! Sound the alarm!"

If we had been properly sworn into the pack, I would have been able to mind-link Victoria and the Gammas at the gate since I'm close enough to them but we weren't sworn in yet. We in Thor's team can only mind link each other and not with the rest of the Silver-moon pack members.

"Sound the ala..."

The next word out of my mouth is cut short when a heavyweight crashes into me from behind. I fall and immediately turn on my back, raising my arm in time to prevent the crazed wolf from taking a part of my face in his jaw.

It latches onto my extended arm, furiously shaking its massive head as it tears into my flesh. I growl out in pain then…
