"Oh, really?..." I ask, chuckling in amusement "You're so going to kill her, huh?... What exactly are you killing her for?... How can you say you will kill her when you hardly even remember what happened between you two the previous night?" I say, watching as he scrunchs up his face in concentration. I can tell he's trying hard to recall the previous day's happenings between himself and Victoria.
"What do you actually remember about your time with her?" I probs softly this time and he directs his gaze wonderingly towards me. It's obvious from his facial expression that he's still struggling to recall that part of his memory. I just hope the pain he felt didn't fry his memory this time.
"Since you can't remember, then we can't have you going around threatening to kill an innocent girl, Thor"
"Innocent girl? You doubt my words and think she's innocent, huh?"
"Oh no! I was just making sure..."
"You weren't even there so how did you know she's innocent?" He talks, looking sure of himself this time like the cobwebs covering his brain have finally been cleared off and he can now remember.
"You're right, I wasn't there with you guys so I don't really know what happened. I also don't doubt your words, mind you. I just wanted to make sure you recall every detail of what happened since I saw you struggling with remembering just now. So now that your memory has returned, why don't you tell me what happened."
He gulps down the rest of his smoothie, relaxing his back on the sofa.
"It was past midnight I think. I was already in bed when she called, asking if she could come over to my room."
"Ohhh..." I teasingly say with a smile and he smiles back.
"Yeah... I was surprised, you know. I asked her what couldn't wait till tomorrow and she reminded me of her concubine duties"
"She wanted it that bad, huh." I chip in.
"You know right... She talks like she couldn't wait for us to fuck. For a girl who offered to be my concubine just to make her mother angry, her desperation was surprising. I instantly knew something was off with her then.
It's been long since I had a woman so I won't deny that I was desperate to fuck her myself but that wasn't why I permitted her to come over. I laugh and nod in understanding.
"I totally forgot about finding out the truth when she kissed me. I just couldn't resist that temptation, man" He says and we both laugh making me wonder if he would still be attracted to other women when he finally remembers his mate.
"I swear it's not up to thirty seconds since we started kissing when I suddenly hear an explosive sound in my head. God!..." He says, squeezing his eyes shut as if he can still feel the horrible pain.
"That was the most agonizing pain that I've ever experienced in my life. It happened suddenly...
No! Come to think of it, it didn't happen suddenly. It's strange but I first heard a voice crying softly but I ignored it" He says, a deep frown etched into his face as he talks
"It was a female's voice. She-wolf to be precise. It was after the crying voice that I felt the explosion inside my head. It was deafening. The human and her wolf were wailing and howling inside my head at the same time.
That was when I knew she had done something to me. I'm sure she wanted to drive me feral. She must have used some kind of sorcery or black magic to get inside my head. She wanted to kill me!"
"She wanted to kill you?" I chuckle in disbelief. "But why would she want to kill you? What do you think she stands to gain from your death after playing a major role in helping us gain the trust of the patrol members? Have you thought of that?"
"Look, I don't know man! What I know for a fact is that I was perfectly fine before she came but the moment she kissed me, my head nearly exploded with pain. You know, maybe she was just pretending with us all these while. You said it yourself before, maybe all her plan was to get me to let my guard down so she could avenge the supposed death of her father."
"Thor!..." I call his name, chuckling in disbelief
"Okay, let's say you're right that she indeed wanted to avenge her father's death but do you think the best way she would choose to carry out her evil deed was to walk into Alpha's mansion with the guards bearing witness and the surveillance cameras monitoring every one of her movements when she knew quite well that she would never walk out of their alive?
"Well, maybe she did it because she has a death wish." He replies with a shrug
"No man, c'mon!" I say, chuckling and shaking my head in disagreement. "She didn't come to you because she had a death wish, Thor. She came because she wanted to stay alive."
"She wanted to stay alive?" He repeats, looking confused. "She wanted to use my pain to stay alive? What does that even mean? That doesn't make sense at all, Eric. And with the way you're smiling like an idiot, it seems to me like you know more than you're letting out. Are you going to tell me what you know or I'm gonna have to beg and wait for another month!?"
His sarcastic tone and attitude make me laugh
"Yeah, you're right, I knew more than I was letting out. I wanted to tell you about it yesterday when I woke up but you insisted I rest."
"You wanted to tell what happened on the day you were attacked. You said... 'I need to tell you something concerning the day I was attacked.' What has that day got to do with Victoria wanting me dead or wanting to stay alive?" He says in exasperation.
"Well, it started from that day. Victoria found her mate that day."
He raises his brows coolly
"Oh, she did?..." He finally says after some seconds of dead silence.
"Who is her mate then? Is he a member of this pack? Oh, now I get it! She wanted to sleep with me because she didn't like who her mate was. Is that it? She planned to use me?" He says with a cold chuckle.
I recognize that cold look. He looks calm but deep down, he's angry enough to kill. Some months after we lost our parents, he once told me about the silent war between his human and beast form that he always had to fight whenever he was angry. He told me how hard he had to fight so the beast in him wouldn't take over his rationality.
"Yes, she doesn't like her mate but that's not all. Her mate is Alpha like you." I say
He appears cool but I realize how hard he's fighting his anger when his wolf's eyes flash briefly
"Alpha, huh!?... She's mated to an Alpha yet had the guts to come to my room for sex!? Isn't she aware of the consequences of her actions!? The consequences her action might bring on my pack!" He growls and stands up from his chair to pace around the room.
I immediately stand up to calm him down when I see his eyes are now flickering between red and their human color. I can't let him lose control now that he's just getting better
"Calm down man! You can't..."
"Don't fucking tell me to calm down, dammit!" He growls out loud. "She knew the rules that Alphas don't sleep with each other's mate yet she wanted to con me into having sex with her! Just who the fuck does she think she is!?
Did she think I wouldn't mind going to war with another Alpha because she helped with the patrol members!? Or perhaps she thought fucking me will make me not mind the consequences of her action!?..."
