Fated Tó The Evil Viking Chapter 153

'They wanted to make sure that my daughter and Nate's son missed out on both of their fated mates!' I repeat his words to myself with irritation.

What is the matter with these old people!? How difficult is it for them to put two and two together? Why are they finding it hard to see the truth even when the evidence is glaring enough?

Did he ever think about his Omega maid that fought not just one she-wolf that is the same age as her in her human form but two and almost killed them?

Didn't he ever wonder how a she-wolf that was supposed to be an Omega with no training whatsoever got to be so strong?

Even if he couldn't put two and two together then what about Uncle Knox? How could he tell his friend about his son being the chosen one of House War-cloud, something that we all considered as top secret but couldn't tell him about his son's mate?

I already let him know that Ash is not an Omega but an Alpha. And also that she's working as a maid at Alpha Nate's pack. So why didn't Uncle Knox think deeply and inform his friend about the possibility of Ash being his daughter? Unless of course, he didn't believe me when I told him Ash is Alpha. Or maybe he had his own reason for not telling Alpha Nate about Ash yet.

I'm sorry for the trouble he's going through searching for his real daughter but there's no way I'm going to tell him about Ash without first helping Thor to remember his lost memory. I don't care if he's friends with my Dad and Uncle. I am loyal and swore my allegiance to Thor and not them.

"Uncle Knox told me all investigations into finding out who your real daughter is and Miranda's whereabouts were unsuccessful..." I say to him questioningly

"Yes, but we're still investigating and we're leaving no stone unturned. I will never give up on finding my daughter even if it takes the last breath in me or I die trying. I will never give up!" He fiercely says

"Maybe, if you should focus your attention more on finding Miranda. Who knows, she might be the key to finding your real daughter." I suggested to him.

"I think you should start with the people around you. Those that are close to Miranda, like her friends at home and in school. Her nanny if she had any. The maids and other staff that worked with you in the past and recently..."

He exhales loudly

"Eric, when I said we're leaving no stone unturned then I meant we're leaving no stone unturned. Investigation into the lives of my past and present staff are still ongoing, so far no good news has been reported yet. The only person that came close. I mean that my mate thought was guilty is Celine..."

"Celine? Who is that?" I quickly ask before he brushes the thought aside as irrelevant since I can tell from his tone of voice that he didn't share his mate's suspicions concerning this person.

"Celine is our maid. She has been with us way before Miranda was born and she also got pregnant around the same time as Raina.

Raina is now of the opinion that Celine's baby is still alive. At first, she thought her pregnancy was fake, but now she's saying her baby didn't die and it was a girl. It's all nonsense talk, don't pay attention to it.

My heart quickens when I hear all that he says

"You don't believe your mate? Why though?..." I ask

"Because it doesn't make sense! She at first believed the maid's pregnancy was fake but I know for a fact that Celine was indeed pregnant. As our closest maid, I saw Celine as family and gave her the privilege of being attended to by our doctor. The doctor had been in my family since when I was a kid. Do you think he wouldn't have known if Celine's pregnancy was fake after so many examinations?

"He would have, surely."

"Yes, he would have... My second reason for not believing my mate's suspicions was also because she suffered from postpartum psychosis after she gave birth. It's a mental illness that affects some women in the first few weeks after giving birth. Symptoms include losing the sense of reality– hallucinations, delusions, mood swings, and behavior changes.

Celine wasn't around when Raina gave birth. She was on maternity leave. She gave birth two days after Raina. Her baby was a boy, not a girl and he was born as a stillbirth.

"Oh..." I say. 'This is getting more complicated' I thought to myself and admitted that I also wouldn't believe my mate if I was Alpha Nate.

"Yes. Labor came in the night and before they could get to the hospital the baby was unfortunately born dead. I went to see her and saw the dead baby before it was buried.

Even though Celine was devastated when she lost her baby, she was still committed to her job. She loved Miranda like she was her's and took care of her when Raina couldn't because of her condition.

"Wao..." I say but my heart sinks when I realize he's right about the maid investigation being a dead-end.

"Yeah. Do you see why I didn't believe she was responsible for switching our baby?

"Yes, I see... I'd like to know please, this Celine, did she have kids of her own?"

"Two. A boy and a girl, now adults. One was adopted..." He says and my spirit soars again with hope

"The girl was adopted six months after she lost her son. This is the third reason why I didn't believe her ridiculous theory when she said Celine's daughter might be our daughter.

How can that be!?... You see, Knox and Drew found the baby at one of the smaller werewolf communities that border Mexico when they were still working as Council investigators. The whole of her village was killed by dark wolves. The girl has dark hair while our child was blond when she was born. There's no way she's our daughter.

Celine is still working as our maid and it's obvious from her downcasted countenance these days that even though she was disappointed to find out that Miranda isn't our biological child, she still misses her. She treated and even spoilt Miranda as if she was her own child."

"What about the girl? Celine's daughter I mean? She should be eighteen now if I'm not mistaken. Has she found her mate or is she still living in your pack?"

"I don't know anything about her whereabouts. Last I heard about her, she moved out of Celine's house when she was eighteen and moved in with Martha..." My heart skips when I hear Martha's name but I continue to listen to him talk.

"I heard she even got herself legally adopted by Martha. I know this as a fact because I helped Martha with the legal side of it when she insisted on making the girl legally hers

"Was she the one that convinced this Martha to adopt her?" I ask in disbelief since that was not what Martha personally told Thor and me about her reason for adopting Ash.
