"Excuse me," Eric tells the witch in confusion. "What do you mean by where have I been all these years? Have we met before?"
"We have..." She replies to him with an endearing smile on her face
"Then how come I don't remember?"
"It's a very, very long time ago. You won't now but you will soon at the right time." She says and turns away from him to Alpha Nate and his Beta
"Alpha... Beta" She bows her head slightly toward them.
"I'll just take this big boy off your hands," she touch the council police, and both of them vanished. Disappeared into thin air the way she appeared out of it.
"Wow, sophisticated!" I mutter. I'm impressed. We have witches and wizards back in Denmark but I've never seen one like this witch who can appear and disappear at will without chanting some kind of incantation.
I look over at Eric and he still looks baffled
'Hey, you good?' I say through our mind link and he looks towards me, his brows furrows in concentration
'Yeah– I don't know– I mean, it kinda feels like I know her. Like I know her essence– A déjà vu kinda feeling, you understand?... Just that, I'm sure I've never seen her before. I would know if I have. Someone as beautiful as that is not easy to forget you know?'
'Yeah...' I agree with him
"Now shall we go back to discussing the purpose of our meeting?" Alpha Nate, interrupts our mind conversation
"Yes of course," I reply
When we're done discussing, I check my watch and realize it's past noon. We've been inside Alpha Nate's office for about two hours
"Hope you're staying for lunch?" Alpha Nate asks and I Immediately accept. Not because of the food though, but because it's an opportunity for me to see Ash.
Eric looks at me and shakes his head. Even without him talking or mind-linking me, I know he thinks seeing my mate in the presence of her Alpha and Beta is a bad idea. What if either of them decides to maybe punish her, will I be able to stomach that?
Of course, I won't be able to if that should happen. I won't be able to stop myself from ripping the person's heart out of their chest while it's still beating. I ignore Eric's look, that's pleading with me to reconsider, and sit back in my chair. Wait till you meet your mate, then you'll understand the way I'm feeling. I thought to myself.
I hear a soft knock on the door and immediately sit up in my chair eagerly expecting my mate to walk in through the door.
Eric rolls his eyes upward at me
'Will you please stop acting like a teenager on a first date!' He says through our mind link
'Fuck you...' I smilingly reply without looking at him
"Come in" Alpha Nate calls to the person knocking.
It isn't Flame that enters. It's the old human maid Alpha Nate brought to take care of my dad. I couldn't hide my disappointed I am and wish to strangle Eric as his laughter rings out inside my mind
While the human maid arranges lunch on the table, Alpha Nate and his Beta's eyes suddenly glaze over. I wonder what happened since they both look worried as they mind-linked.
Immediately their eyes return to normal, they both stand and hurry towards the large picture window looking down, towards whatever was happening on the street below.
I look at Eric and we also stand and curiously walk toward them to see what is so interesting. The moment I look out the window and see my mate being harassed by three other girls around her age, I have the urge to break through the glass and help her rip into them but I hold myself when I remember who and what she is
She wouldn't be Goddess Sif, my mate if she couldn't take care of three measly she-wolves. Even when I'm sure she will easily crush them, I'm highly disappointed in Alpha Nate and his Beta. If she was an Omega that they thought her to be then how can they just stand aside and watch her get harassed knowing she might probably get killed in the process?
It's common for werewolves from the same pack to settle their disputes by fighting each other, as long as the fight is fair and supervised by the necessary authority but this is not a fair fight. It's three against one but the Alpha and Beta are doing nothing to stop it
My anger fuels toward my mate when I hear from their conversations that the fight is all because of a man. Why is my mate wearing a hoodie that belongs to another she-wolf's boyfriend? What is the relationship between them? I wonder. I at first found it hard to believe that she would indeed get involved with another man until I see her remove the hoodie she was wearing and hands it over to the one that looks like the leader of the group
I see red then. I remember smelling another wolf on her the first time I recognized she was my mate. I look at the hoodie where it was lying on the ground and the picture of her clutching onto the damn thing that day flashes through my mind
Other girls fighting my mate over a man! How embarrassing! How could she put herself in such an embarrassing situation? She's not even eighteen, yet she couldn't be patient enough! Couldn't wait for me, her mate so she decided to get herself a boyfriend, is that it?...
'She must have had a reason for having the shirt, it doesn't necessarily mean she cheated on you so calm down before Alpha Nate and his Beta begin to wonder why you're growling!' Eric says through our mind link
I don't realize I was growling and I don't agree with him that my mate didn't have anything to do with the son of a bitch whose hoodie she had
'Do you remember the dream I told you about my mate cheating on me?' I ask him
'Yes, but you still...'
'Really Eric, I don't wanna hear it!' I cut him off. I know he's about to give reasons why I should trust her. I really don't want to hear them.
Even though I'm angry, I know Alpha Nate's office is not the place for me to think about the possibility of my partner cheating on me. We will discuss this later. Perhaps not today, but tomorrow when she'll find out who I really am.
She doesn't know me yet so she had no idea what I'm capable of doing. Otherwise, she will know to stay away from other men because no matter how many of them she gets close to, I won't hesitate to kill them all!
For some seconds I was lost in my thoughts and my mind was no longer with the bitchy talks going on between them. I was still watching their drama but deaf to their conversations. It's irritating. Then a bone-chilling, painful scream, penetrates through my thoughts, making me conscious of the situation again
"Atta girl!" I put my anger aside and cheer for my mate when I see she's living up to expectations. They will know not to mess with her next time
'Do something, Thor, before she kills them!' Eric says again through our mind link
'No!' I outrightly refuse.'
'Are you kidding me right now?' He asks in disbelief.
"No, I'm not."
"Nate, she's going to kill them! Are we still going to continue watching!?" Alpha Nate's Beta suddenly growls out loud.
"Yes!" Alpha Nate replies. "They asked for it so they should deal with it!"
"How can you say that about our kids? Well, it's my daughter she's holding by the throat. I'm not going to just sit and watch the bitch kill my daughter!" He says and storms out
Since I know the old fart isn't powerful enough to hurt Ash, I watch him leave until Eric's voice invades my mind yet again
'Go get her now, Thor before she kills them! Manslaughter is still punishable by jail time! I hope you remember that
'How can it be manslaughter if she kills them in self-defense? It isn't a fair fight to begin with, remember?' I argue but appear at her side within a blink of an eye, not because I don't want her to kill them, but because I don't think she's ready to shoulder the guilt of killing yet.
And I arrived just in the nick of time, another minute more and the Beta's daughter would have been dead. I look at Ash and see she's completely out of control. Her wolf's eyes glowing like bright cinders
I move closer to her and whisper soothingly in her ear
"Calm down my love..."
She turns towards me and her wolf's eyes glow brighter In recognition of my wolf.
I speak directly to her wolf since she's in control
"Goddess Sif! You can relax now. Go to sleep" I soothe
Slowly, the fire in her eyes fades till they return to their natural amber color
"Goddess Sif?" She asks me in wonder and I smile back before she slumps into me in exhaustion. The smile on my face immediately disappears the moment she becomes unconscious.
