Fated Tó The Evil Viking Chapter 78

Eric's POV

Ella might be crazy and disobedient sometimes but she's good with people. I'm glad I brought her with me and not one of the boys to see Flame, otherwise, what would I have done? How would I have consoled Flame while she was so devastated?... Watching her sitting dispiritedly on the floor and in tears breaks my heart so much. I would have started to cry myself if Ella hadn't stepped in to save the day.

I blame myself for this. I let my guard down for one moment and the bitch pulled a fast one on me. Well, I didn't really let my guard down like that. She carried out her evil plan on Thor and sneaked out of the Alpha's mansion while I was having a meeting with the team about Thor's situation.

As Martha had suggested, I need to call Thor's dad and let him know about the situation of things. Even though their case is not really the same, Martha made some good points when she made me realize that Thor and Flame's situation might be the same as Thor's parents.

I should call Uncle Knox right away and not delay but I need to take care of Martha's body first. Unless the neighbors were aware when Mirinda and the Council policemen visited, I doubt if her remains had been removed from the premises. I'll talk to Flame about her burial later, but first, I need to see to her corpse.

The house before Martha's house appears to be empty and the one after is quite some distance away. I guess that's why none of her neighbors notices her door is left ajar.

We enter and I wonder with surprise what happened there. I wonder how much fight Flame put up before she was eventually subdued when I see the living room in disarray as if a storm just went through the place.

"What happened here can cause serious strife between the Human Government and Shifter Council if her neighbors had seen this," Ella says, bending down to examine the deep claw marks that obviously belong to a werewolf left on the carpet.

"Yeah, it can..." I agree as I also squat beside her. "A body laid here" I point to a spot on the carpet where some amount of blood had soaked through.

"Yes, but where is it? What happened to her corpse? Or could it be that her neighbors found out and took her to the morgue after all?" Ella asks frowning in concentration.

"No, I don't think so. If that was the case, they would have reported the situation to the police who would have surrounded the house with crime scene tapes. We probably wouldn't have been able to enter this easily since some police officers would still be around to ask questions"

"We should check with the Council police that came to arrest Flame then, right? They should know what happened since they witnessed her death." She says. I can tell from her voice which had deepened to almost a growl that she's getting angry.

I snort in disgust

"I can bet everything I own in my life that they left her body here to rot since none of them would want to be linked to the murder of a human. What they did was illegal. Before conducting an arrest or extradition from human premises, a team of human police must be present to witness it happen but they didn't follow the right protocol.

I bet Miranda prevented them from going through the proper channel which she probably knew might take time... Oh, they are so in trouble, I'm going to make sure of that. We can even get Miranda arrested for this."

"What about the body? Can we really prove anything against them without the body?"

"Sure we can. The claw marks on the floor, body fluids from not just the victim but Mirinda herself when she shifted, I bet she left some. This can definitely incite war between the humans and shifters..." I say and stand up from squatting.

"And for an old lady who is living alone in this kind of too-quiet community, I bet Martha has a security camera installed way before Flame came to live with her, so look around for one..." I say and we both start to look around.

I walk outside where I'm sure it will be and start to look all over the wall

"Bingo!" I say loudly when I find one hidden within the vines that had grown all over the wall

"What? You found one?" Ella calls out as she comes outside to join me.

"Yeah... I found one hidden in the vines"

"Smart woman. Hope the leaves didn't cover it?..." She asks

"No, it didn't... Let's go back inside to check the DVR recorder" I say and we both walk back into the living room.

We find the DVR recorder that is connected to a laptop inside Martha's bedroom and start checking back till we arrive at some minutes past midnight... We watch as the two police jeeps arrived and parked in front of Martha's house.

"What a joke! Silver Moon Council police came with two jeeps just to arrest a girl! They're too weak and should be ashamed of themselves" Ella says angrily

"Not just Silver Moon, the whole Council police departments are a bunch of idiots. After this is over, remind me to write to the Council authority for police reform. Like how could they not think to check for CCTV cameras after committing a crime!?... They're really a bunch of bozos."

We watched as three policemen came out of the Jeep at the front and went to open the back door where Miranda stepped out from.

"Gotcha!" I say as I watch them open Martha's picket fence to walk inside.

"Stupid bitch!... Do you think Flame will leave her to me to do as I like when this is over?"

"You should ask her that and not me. You should also focus on the task at hand." I say as we watch one of the policemen pick Martha's lock.

"This is so illegal. You have a warrant to arrest so why pick her lock? They are fucking Council policemen for crying out loud, shouldn't they know better!?" Ella cries in frustration.

"It's a pity there's no camera inside. We would have known how it all went down." I say and remove the memory card from the DVR and put it inside my pocket.

We step out of Martha's room and go inside Flame's room which has the door ajar…
