The moment I woke up, everything around was pitch black and made me wonder if this was hell.
My whole body ached, especially my head, I even smelled blood. My limbs are numb for no reason, even just a slight movement, but I still find it difficult.
"Ah... um..."
Beside me came a sound, like someone groaning. My whole body suddenly got goosebumps from fear. In a place so dark that I couldn't see anything, any strange noise was enough to freak me out.
"Damn it."
The same voice was still there. It's a woman's voice. This time, I was more awake and realized whose voice it was.
"Kaylin?" I raised my voice and whispered like I was out of breath.
"... Esther? Are you still alive?" Kaylin didn't seem to see me either, she didn't know that we were together.
Only then did my memories slowly return. I remember that Garrick and I joined forces to pull Kaylin up. When we were about to succeed, she suddenly shoved my hand away, causing me to fall into the cave. I hit my head on a rock and passed out, only now waking up.
Looking at the situation, it can be seen that Kaylin was also unlucky to escape. After she deliberately harmed me, she herself did not have time to grab Garrick and fall with me into the deep and dark cave.
"You're crazy. Why would you risk your life just to kill me?" I'm pissed at Kaylin and I'm desperate for our current situation.
"Shut up. If it weren't for my bad luck, I wouldn't have been lying here waiting to die with you. You're the one who brought disaster." Kaylin is also mad. She hissed curses and blamed me.
"I really don't understand, why are you always so hostile to me?" I asked her.
"..."
This time, Kaylin didn't answer me anymore. It seems that this cave, or rather this hole is not too wide. Based on the echoing sound, I have such a guess. The layer of snow below is very thick, that's why although my limbs were twisted, fortunately I didn't break any bones.
I slowly sat up, groping around to locate myself in this hole. All around me was snow, blocking in front of me seemed to be a thick iceberg. Perhaps when we fell, this iceberg also fell and accidentally filled the hole.
I couldn't hear any noise from above at all, no Garrick or Jenny's voice, I wasn't sure if I was buried in this deep hole or if they weren't up there anymore. . Either way, I'm sure the current situation is really bad.
"Ah, that's right!" I shouted when I suddenly remembered that I had a flashlight.
When I fell, I remember that the flashlight also fell here. I fumbled around and searched for the flashlight which took a long time. However, it is through this diligent search that I have shaped and visualized this hole. This hole is not really wide, but because of the broken ice block almost the entire area inside. I can't stand up but can only sit or crawl to move in here, and Kaylin seems to be on the other side of the iceberg. We were blocked from each other.
I secretly feel that I am too lucky to have fallen here and still survive, and not to be seriously injured, because if this hard ice falls on me, I will definitely be in danger.
"I found you." I grabbed the flashlight buried in the snow, then turned it on.
However, it seems that this flashlight is broken. The light flickers, it flashes a few times then goes off.
“Come on…” I smack the flashlight, check the battery then try to get it to work.
After a few tries, the flashlight could no longer light up. I was frustrated and tired, so I lay down in the snow. It was really cold in this hole, moreover I was lying on the snow, so even though I wore very thick clothes, I still couldn't stand it and shivered. My teeth trembled and kept banging together.
Not knowing how much time passed, I almost fell asleep. But because I was afraid that if I fell asleep, I would die, so I still tried to keep myself awake.
"Kaylin..." I tried calling her but she didn't answer.
But now, I just noticed one thing. Kaylin was in this hole a few hours ago, and then she fell into the same hole with me for quite a while. Even if I felt exhausted to the point of death, Kaylin might be in danger. I still remember her wearing a very thin dress.
"Kaylin." I shouted louder. But still there was no response from her.
While talking just now, Kaylin suddenly fell silent. It's not because she doesn't want to talk and scold me anymore, it's because she can't do that. Maybe she fainted. In this state, in less than a few hours, if someone didn't save us in time, Kaylin would probably die of cold.
I took the flashlight and tried turning it on again. This time, perhaps luck was on my side, the flashlight worked.
Immediately, I turned on the light to look around. Just as I had speculated, this hole was narrow and blocked by that giant iceberg. There's a lot of blood under the snow. I touched my forehead and felt a sharp pain. This is probably the blood from my head hit. But... is it that much?
At this moment, I suddenly saw Kaylin. But the scene I was looking at was truly terrifying beyond imagination. I let out a scream then quickly covered my mouth.
The huge iceberg actually separated Kaylin from me, but there was a narrow gap close to the snow just enough for me to see Kaylin. One of her cleats had been hit by an iceberg and was bleeding non-stop. Her face was pale and she lay still. It is not known if she is dead or not.
I have never had to witness such a horrible thing. Although Kaylin is someone I hate so much, I never really expected her to die. Looking at Kaylin's weak and painful appearance, I was worried.
Right now my only thought is to find a way to save Kaylin.
