Inferno & Steeled Alpha Chapter 20

*Abi POV*

It’s Friday night, another familiar scene. I am laying of the floor but feel less exhausted than most Friday nights. Prophet Rufus is looking through my soul and for the first time in months, I am terrified. I use to feel like this before but I got used to it. Tonight I am back there again. What Prophet Rufus sees and says about Omario and I will determine what happens to me from now on. I have done my best to imagine Omario as the man on the video he made me watch. I have also reminisced about our kiss every day and I hope that what the prophet sees is convincing enough.

“And?” Alpha Theo roars. He really takes this very serious. His heart must be disgustingly strong. I really hate the mutation that gave him this power.

My heart is hammering. This is the moment of truth.

“Nothing, Your Highness.” Prophet Rufus says.

I look at him, he is definitely not telling the whole truth because I have thought of killing Alpha Theo. Omario’s thoughts have consumed me, but that has not stopped me from wanting his father dead.

“What do you mean nothing?” Alpha Theo yells.

Someone should tell him that he can be heard clearly even when not screaming.

“Her thoughts this past week are only of the Prince, Your Highness,” Prophet Rufus explains.

“Oh?” Alpha Theo raises his right eyebrow.

I am just as surprised. It is very risky for the prophet to lie to the Alpha, especially this Alpha.

“Proceed,” Alpha Theo orders with a mischievous grin.

“She is enticed and mesmerised by him, Your Highness.”

Prophet Rufus is too calm for someone who is lying. This leaves me wondering why he is doing this and if I am really enticed and mesmerised by Omario.

“Hah!”Alpha Theo exclaims and turns to his son with a huge grin on his face.

“The.. the details are too intimate for this gandering, My Lord.”

My face starts burning with embarrassment.

“I see. Why then did she slit her wrist if she’s so mesmerised?”

“That was because of being wolf-less, Your Highness.”

Prophet Rufus is on point here, which means he knows very well that Omario and I are not intimate at all. He also knows that I am not really wolf-less, yet he is not volunteering that information to the Alpha. This means for whatever reasons, he is also risking his life for me.

“Pathetic soul, that wolf saved itself from such embarrassment,” he sneers and I can’t help wondering if that’s the reason Nina won’t even talk to me.

“Who would have thought that all she needed was my son’s dick!”Alpha Theo adds and he and his friends bursts out in laughter while Luna Nala gives me then Omario murderous looks.

“On second thought, Son. You can have the pathetic slave anytime. Just spare some of that passion for your fiancée.”

Whew! I am embarrassed but I am safe from Blake’s evil grip. This, unfortunately, won’t be good for Olivia and Omario. Although she won’t voice it out, I know that Olivia is not happy about Omario claiming me and spending so much time with me. Now she will hear all about how enticed I am by her fiancé.

Two hours later, I am back in Omario’s chambers. Omario is stubbornly sitting on the bed next to me and refusing to go see his injured fiancée.

“Thank you, truly.”

I am really grateful to him. I don’t have the usual lashes on my body because no one would dare touch me. Not after he killed Kane and Sylvester just a week ago.

“Say it,” he says and I look at him. Our eyes meet and my heart starts racing as always. I hate this feeling that he can somehow read through me. That’s not good, especially now that my thoughts of him are not so innocent.

“You have something to say, just say it,”he insists.

I take a deep breath. He has saved me now it’s my turn to help him, no matter how strange and confusing this whole scenario is. He needs to go and be with his fiancée, I need a way to persuade him.

I am startled out of my thoughts by the door opening and Luna Nala walking in.

I immediately look away because I know why she is here.

“Mother, you don’t knock anymore?” Omario asks carelessly.

I don’t like his attitude towards her. She is one of my favourite people in this castle but everyone who matters to her treats her as an invalid. Unfortunately, after all this, I am not her favourite servant.

“Olivia is in her quarters,” she says angrily.

“I know.” Omario’s tone is the same ‘I don’t care what you think’ attitude I hate.

“Should you not be there with her?”

“No. Is there anything else?”

Omario’s responses to his mother are getting me really worked up. I know that he is trying very hard to sound and act cold to command respect but I don’t think he should be doing it to his mother too.

“She is your fiancée!” Luna Nala yells but that does not make any difference.

“She should have never gone to that stupid hunt in the first place,” is Omario’s reply. I can see him tense up when he says this.

“Is that because you think it’s wrong and cruel or it’s because it upsets your mesmerised slave?”Luna Nala sneers.

I swallowed my saliva and blink back my stupid tears, which are threatening to escape. I don’t usually care what everyone says about me but her spite of me really hurts.

“Abi fucks very well, Mother. She blows my mind away.”

I swallow my saliva, I feel like crying because she hates me and my whole face is burning because of his statement. I know that he is doing all of this to convince everyone that we are having sex and confirms his claim, but it’s making everything worse for him and Olivia.

Luna Nala puts her hands over her ears.

“I don’t want to know!” she says with disgust written all over her face.

Her departure is exactly like her entrance but I am relieved when the door slams shut behind her.

“You have to go.”

My voice is a bit shaky and uncertain but this is the right thing to do.

“I am not going anywhere.”

His ‘I don’t care’ attitude he used on his mother tips me over.

“Why are you so stubborn!”

He looks at me, shocked. “Are you actually yelling at me, Abigail?”

Shit! I didn’t mean to yell at him. That’s a punishable offence. What’s wrong with me?

“I am sorry, Your Ma….”

He shoots me a cold stare that sends shivers down my spine. “I dare you to call me that!”

“Omario.”

It’s a whisper that comes out that makes him chuckles. His cold eyes warm up, giving me the courage to continue.

“I am fine now, Olivia needs you.”

“I said no. This conversation is over.”

“Please, I don’t want to mess things up for you.” I am now pleading with him but it feels like I have already lost.

“Abi.”

“I will never slit my wrist again.” I blurt out. That’s just dumb on my part but I have nothing else to use to persuade him.

“Are you bribing me, Abigail?”

“Yes..maybe.”

“Fine. Terrence will come and watch you while I go to see her.”

I can’t believe that actually worked!

“Thank you.”

I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders but then this dull sensation on my heart starts. Is this what jealousy feels like? It can’t be, because I have no right.
