*Omario POV*
Titan increases pace and climbs up the hill against the wind. This is harder against the resists but Terrence accepts the challenge and is right behind him, but Loyd is left a few meters away. He is gonna have to train harder to keep up because I don’t suppose this pace is going to slow down in the future.
Titan is right on the top of the hill when the feeling starts and he turns right back, almost crushing into Terrence.
“This woman can’t stay safe for a minute!” I complain to Titan
“We are meant to protect her and here we are,” Titan responds. I don’t know why I expected anything else from him.
“Whoa!” Terrence exclaims leaping over Titan and turning around in a spectacular spin. So smooth!
“Whats going on?” Loyd asks when we dash past him again.
“Dashing off to save your mate?” Terrence links.
This is not supposed to happen. He is in my head and completely shut Loyd out. Rufus can look into souls and read minds, but not this.
“Stop reading me, and get out of my head!”
I can’t believe that Abi goes through Rufus reading her every thought every Friday and is still sane.
“I take that as a confirmation. Off to save Abi we go!” Terrence says excitedly, ignoring my objection.
“You heal fast, control horses and now this? What else can you do?”
I have never heard of anything like this. Terrence might just be the most powerful prophet I have ever met.
He laughs and ignores my question. Maybe a threat will get him talking.
“I will just tell dad about you.”
“Then you will never know what else I can do and Abi will never forgive you,” he responds and chuckles while I freak out. Abi is already mad at me and it strangely hurts. I can’t afford to make her angrier and somehow Terrence knows that.
“You are an ass.”
Terrence laughs again and clears out of my head just in time for us to hear Loyd’s frustration. He thinks we have been ignoring his questions and is completely unaware that we have been communicating without his hearing.
“Can someone please tell me what’s going on? Why the hell did we turn back like that?”
“I don’t know either, man, just keep up,” Terrence responds and continues running behind me.
“You don’t have to be cocky about it!”Loyd snaps, breathless.
“I will keep you yelping alone next time!” Terrence snaps back. Technically speaking, Loyd is way higher than him in hierarchy and as a servant, he should be bowing to him, but Terrence does not bow to me either. A servant by choice this Gamma of mine.
Loyd grumbles something I can’t make out and Terrence just ignores him.
I don’t think my Beta and Gamma are very fond of each other. This is going to be an interesting journey.
Abi is not in the servants quarters and I can’t help but freak out. She is in no state to be out there, especially with Brenda staying here full time and Blake being dad’s second Beta. The feeling I had has however completely resolved and I have no idea what to make of it. Was she in trouble and now okay or … I can’t get myself to think of the worst. I look up at the clear blue skies, a weird reassurance that she is okay, well, not dying. The last time she almost died, the sky became threateningly dark. It really sucks not having guidance with all this.
“Checking for the signs of your mate’s wellbeing?” Terrence gets in my head again.
“Get off my head and….”I don’t complete my response because a female servant in her early twenties approaches us.
“Your Majesty,”she bows before me, then her eyes meet Terence’s and she blushes. She is quiet a beauty even with the rugs she has on. Now this I can use to my advantage.
“Abi is working in Beta Brenda’s wing,” she adds.
It’s funny how she is certain that I am here for Abi when so many of them share this place.
“Thank you…?”
“Teresa, Your Majesty,”she says and bows again. I can’t help but smile at my fortune.
Terrence narrows his eyes at me and I grin at him before turning to Teresa.
“Beautiful Teresa, I might require your services soon,” I say and wink at Terrence whose face is red with anger. He obviously cares deeply about her, a different kind from how he is with Abi. The bastard has a girl, that’s why he is so adamant that Abi is my mate, not his.
“Got you. Get off my head,”I command him and he shakes his head but drops a bomb on me.
“I will tell Abi that you are planning on cheating on her. Let’s see how you deal with that,” Terrence winks back.
I can’t believe that his strategy actually works. Somehow I can’t imagine hurting the woman who thinks she is my mate. How did I become so vulnerable?
I clear my throat and find Loyd looking really confused.
“See you later Terrence. Loyd and I will go to Brenda’s place,” I say and lead Loyd away.
“Don’t keep Teresa off her work too long,”I say to myself and the bastard actually responds. Terrence is still in my head.
“I will tell the Beta’s that you authorised it.”
Sneaky but smart.
“I will tell Abi what you are doing to me.”
Silence. Terrence has cleared off my head. So, that works both ways. It’s good to know.
“You and that slave…”Loyd says, the moment we are a few meters away from Terrence and Teresa.
“His name is Terrence!” I snap at him. I really hate that word.
“Why do I feel like I have lost my best friend?”
“Funny, because I feel the same way. Since when do you join a hunt to torture innocent people, worse, take Oli with you?”
Him and I never got to talk about that day. He does not get to be jealous or ask me anything about Terrence after what he did.
Loyd sighs and casts his eyes down. “She wanted to go.”
I thought as much. Loyd always goes along with whatever Oli says, but he does not get off that easy.
“And you didn’t think to stop her?”
“She’s going through a lot, Rio. I understand everything that you are doing. I think she does too, but she a woman, your are her fiancée. You claimed a sl…servant, killed her uncle and she is back here but you won’t spend any time with her. She was just acting out,”he explains and I should get it, but I don’t.
“See how that turned out,” I sneer and he looks at me with a shocked expression.
“You sound like you don’t care that she got hurt.”
“She had no business being there, neither did you. You are my best friend and Beta. I expect you to have my back and hers,always.”
There is no way in hell I will allow him to make me feel guilty for their stupidity.
“Sorry. It won’t happen again.”
This is why I love Loyd. He is never arrogant and stubborn when he is wrong.
“Rio! Loyd! My favourite duo!” Oli exclaims excitedly the moment we walk in and hop on one leg towards us.
“Where’s Abi?”
She stops and glares at me before tears roll down her cheeks. “You are here for her?” she asks and hops to Loyd, buries her face on his shoulder and starts weeping.
Loyd shakes his head at me while patting her back, an act that seems to make her wail louder. I know that I look like an asshole but I have to find Abi. I can’t think straight until I know that she’s okay. I leave them there and go through every room while shouting her name.
“Abi! Abi!”
Her silence is really making me panic. I am still shouting and going through every door when I open one with Brenda, who is half naked and making out with my dad.
“Eew! Seriously?”
“Theo! Don’t stop!” the disgusting witch moans. How shameless!
“Where is Abi!” I scream my lungs out and they both look at me puzzled.
“Ooh, looking for your slave?” Brenda ask and continues moaning. She is intentionally rubbing in my dad’s infidelity. I should have killed her when I had a chance.
“Missing her already?” dad asks mischievously.
“Where is she?” I shout each word slowly.
“Ask Oli,” Brenda adds and screams my dad’s name. Disgusting!
I slam the door and storm back to where I left Oli and Loyd.
“Where is Abigail!”
I am really irritated. Oli did not tell me where Abi was earlier when I asked.
“Don’t yell at me! I don’t know!” Oli yells back. She is getting used to yelling at me, maybe she has forgotten who I am. Loyd can tell that I am fuming and he shifts uncomfortable but does not dare say a word. I’m about to grab Oli’s neck when I hear a dog barking.
Shit! The dogs! That’s the only place I did not check. I run towards the kennel gate and my heart stops…..
