*Abi POV*
I clench my fists and watch Alpha Theo getting closer while my heart beats like a drum. I am well aware of Terrence and Omario shifting next to me but my focus is on my sworn enemy and his friends who almost have us cornered at the aisle. You can tell from the grins on their faces that they are excited about this. This is another stupid hunting adventure to them. Terrence and I are obviously outnumbered, it must be clear to everyone here whom the victors will be, but one thing for sure, we will not go down without a fight.
I can’t help but be reminded that my father once fought against these idiots, and killed a lot of them too. He would have come victorious had it not been for Alpha Theo’s invincibility. I hope I inherited some of his heroics.
Terrence’s wolf tries to charge forward, but I pull him with his neck and push him right behind me. He growls, clearly not impressed with my actions. He’s always tried to shield me from harm, even took some punishments for me, it’s now my turn to stand up for him. They will have to go through me to get to him.
I am emotionally preparing myself for the worst when I feel a sharp pain on my shoulder, followed by a tingling sensation. Turning my head slightly and see Titan licking the scars his razor sharp teeth left on me.
What the ….? Did Titan just mark me?
I turn my whole body around to look at him. “Seriously? Right now, in the middle of all this?”
He stares back at me then licks my blood on the side of his mouth, groans and stands right next to me. He stands so close to me that I have to shift slightly to avoid falling, but he keeps getting closer.
“I really can’t run my hands through your fur, no matter how tempting that is and in case you have not noticed, your human was about to reject me,” I say softly. I doubt he consulted Omario about this but he does not seem deterred by my comment. I don’t even know how I feel about what he just did but he is obviously pleased with himself because he lifts his front legs to get to my height and licks my face. This wolf!
I can’t help but pat him slightly and he groans again. Well, I guess he is on my side. We are now three against Alpha Theo’s evil army.
“Omario? Are you fucken’ kidding me!” Alpha Theo roars when he realises what just happened and picks up his step towards us.
“Theo, please let…” Luna Nala tries to speak but Alpha Theo almost bites her head off.
“Shut the fuck up, Nala!”
That’s when everything becomes surreal.
I know something is up when Titan and Terrence spring away from me and all I see is blazing flames, right before I completely transform into a very long awaited beast. My Nina has finally surfaced and she is mystically majestic and absolutely perfect. I can’t believe it, I’m instantly in-love with my wolf.
“What the fuc…?” Alpha Theo does not get to complete his sentence and Nina charges right at and through him, rendering him mere ashes.
So much for being invincible. I can’t believe that it was so easy to destroy him. I need to have a word with my wolf after this. How can she let me suffer all these years when destroying our enemy was so easy?
I catch a glimpse of Luna Nala with the corner of my eye, falling on her knees and holding her chest. I don’t know much about these things but that’s probably the pain of their bond ending. I can’t say I am sorry though. She will be fine and I hope she will get a decent second chance mate.
Charred flesh smell fill the air. A smell that seem to fuel my vengeful wolf. Nina’s whole fur is red like flames but I can’t tell when the actual fur ends and becomes flames or if the flames are what make her fur.
“Oh my…” Brenda cries in horror right before she meets her end. Soon the courtyard is in chaos with everyone screaming and fleeing from the blazing ball of inferno that’s already killed the kingdom’s Alpha, Beta’s and Gamma’s.
Nina stands in the middle of courtyard that was completely packed a few minutes ago but now only has two people left. I don’t know when Terrence and Omario shifted back to their human forms but they are the only ones left here. They are standing in one corner, staring at me in disbelief.
The kingdom bells go off to inform everyone that the Alpha has fallen. I wonder if anyone is going to observe any period of mourning because the bastard does not deserve the honour.
This means Omario is now the Alpha of the Lilly town kingdom. That’s definitely good news for the people.
I am expecting Nina to calm down now. All our enemies are dead, my parents and my people have been avenged. The prophecy has been fulfilled, but she growls and charges towards Omario.
“Abi!” Terrence shouts. “Abi please don’t!”
Fuck! This can’t be happening! I am pissed off at Omario but I don’t want him dead.
“Abi you can control her!” Terrence shouts in terror, but I have no idea how to control my wolf. I don’t know how I shifted into it in the first place and I don’t know how to shift back into my human form.
“Abi it’s Omario, it’s Titan, your mate!” Terrence continues to plead with me but I still don’t know how to stop Nina. She is now right in front of Omario, I’m trying my best to talk to her and I don’t even know how to do that. If I think it, is she able to hear or is there some sort of coding?
I’m irritated with myself for never enquiring about this stuff.
“Omario might be an idiot but he is a good person,” I think it in my head, I hope she gets it.
I guess not because she opens her mouth, razor sharp teeth ready to pounce and Omario closes his eyes, accepting his fate.
Panic, fear and distress washes over me. I am going to kill my own mate. How can I do that!
“I love him. I will never forgive you if you kill him,”I say out loud but Nina’s teeth sink into Omario’s neck.
“Dearest Titan, please forgive me.”
