"Are you sure you'll be fine here?" I got a little bit worried when he told me to stay like that for a few more minutes on the balcony.
The wind feels so cold, like my normal body temperature, and I only have a sports bra and underwear underneath my night robe. I shouldn't have injected the serum earlier; my body temperature is just the same as humans', so I'll be feeling cold if we keep hugging each other in the middle of this windy night.
"I need water," he said, almost in a whisper.
He couldn't regain any of his strength right now, so I just decided to pull his body up. He groaned like an angry beast at what I did, and I continued to pull him up until he could stand a little. I hugged his waist and put his arm around my neck to carry half of his body weight. I can also feel some shattered glass pieces on his back, so I let him lie down on the couch sideways just to keep the glasses from digging into his skin even more.
I light up the fireplace and grab some blankets under the coffee table to cover his body.
"Water," I heard her groaned again.
I rolled my eyes when I forgot to give him what he really wants.
I'm about to open the refrigerator when I sense someone moving near me. My eyes darkened. I opened my mouth to let out my sharp teeth and turned my gaze swiftly to my right side, but I just saw Cooper standing beside me, looking so weak.
"I'm really thirsty," he said before he fell down again.
Seriously? He couldn't wait in the living room?
I muttered a curse as I felt his heaviness again. What do werewolves eat? A whole cow for a day?
I let him drink first in the kitchen, and I carried him again back to the living room. He's still hurt from the wounds he got on his back, and some glasses are still there. The blood was dripping on the floor while I dragged him back to the couch.
"You stay here, I'll go get the med kit," I said while letting him lie down on his side.
I was about to walk away when he caught my hand. "There's a serum in my bedroom, on the right side of my bedside table."
He's not letting go of my hand, so I just sit beside him until he lets go of it. As I sit close to him, I can still see some traces of claws on his chest and on his neck. It's reddish, but it's just a scratch; he also has one on the side of his forehead. His eyebrows are furrowed, maybe because of the pain he feels right now.
"Don't go," he muttered while his eyes closed. He tightened his hold on my hand.
"Stay."
Maybe he's dreaming.
I stayed there again for a little longer until I felt that he'd loosened his hold on my hand. I instantly went to his room to find the serum he talked about, and I easily found it on the side table just like he said.
"Healing serum?" I read the label, and it says that I should apply it after I clean up the area around the wound. That's easy.
When I got back to the living room, I saw him already standing in the middle of the window view of the city.
"You're awake already." I caught his attention.
He looked in my direction and walked towards me.
"Thank you."
I felt a sudden rush in my body when I got to hear his words of gratitude for what I did. Is this true? The mighty Cooper telling me "thank you"?
"Umm, you're welcome," I said after I sat beside him.
I pulled out some cotton balls and alcohol to clean his wound, but he's just looking at me.
"Turn around, dude," I told him, as he was just staring at me.
"I don't want that." He looks like a kid having a tantrum, and he got to smell the alcohol after I put some on the cotton balls.
"Are you scared?" I tried to tease him.
"I want my serum," he firmly said.
"No." I forced him to turn his back on me with all my strength.
I pulled out first the glasses from a while ago, and piece by piece, I can hear him groan softly. It stings, actually, but I'm not the one who's hurt.
"Be gentle," he said between his soft groans.
"Why would I do that?" I teased him even more.
"You know I can call your mother right away, right?" he teased back.
I immediately pushed in a little on the last piece of glass before I pulled it out, just to make him groan louder. He turned around and glared at me.
"What was that?" He angrily asked.
"My hand just felt numb," I shrugged my shoulders about it.
"Or dumb," he turned around after he said that.
I'm starting to clean his wounds, and all I can hear are his moans while he keeps on moving away from me. When I finished cleaning his wounds with alcohol, I poured his serum directly on his back. I was shocked to notice that his wounds were already healed.
"So this serum can heal your wound faster?" I asked him for confirmation. Maybe I could get a sample of it just to let Luke look for the chemicals used in this serum.
"So the injection will keep you looking like a human, have a body temperature like theirs, and keep you from having a blood thirst, right?" He asked back.
"Yeah, whatever," I answered him.
"Yes, whatever," he copied what I told him.
His back is still dripping wet from the serum, so I get the blanket, and I was intending to wipe his back when he swiftly turned around and pulled me in. I end up on top of him, and he wraps his arm around my waist to imprison me.
I shouldn't have injected Luke's serum! My senses are not heightened enough to avoid this kind of thing.
I'm struggling to move his arms away from my waist, but he's stronger than me. He closed his eyes while I was still pushing him really hard with my knees.
"Don't do that," his normal baritone voice came back, but it's a little hoarse. "You might wake up something you don't want to see tonight."
I can feel my face heating up, and I'm pretty sure that once he turns the lights on, he will see that I'm blushing.
"Then let go of me," I said.
"I won't." He opened his eyes and looked at me. "I told you to stay."
Someone's heart is beating too loudly, but maybe it's his. I don't have a heart to spare for this kind of feeling.
He closed his eyes again and held my hand.
"Just look at the city and sleep with me tonight."
There's some kind of magic in his words that made me stop trying to get away from him. I sighed and just looked at the view of the city from here.
The city looked so alive, unlike me.
I'm almost sleepy when Cooper caresses my head softly. Before I finally closed my eyes to sleep, I heard him say something that I thought I wasn't supposed to hear.
"If only we're going to be like this, I'll trade my life for it."
