Mercenaries, I Will Be King Chapter 309

Song Heping's guess was indeed correct.

This small hill was essentially a minefield and a trap zone.

In just a thirty-meter stretch, Song Heping had dismantled two pressure mines and three tripwire mines.

If these were not hard to spot, then by the gate, a simple fence door was equipped with two cleverly set booby trap devices.

On the door's latch, Song Heping found a hand grenade hanging and didn't hesitate to inspect it for booby traps before disassembling it effortlessly.

Just as he was about to push the door open, he suddenly felt something was off.

The path that had come up the slope had each mine installed with a chain mechanism, yet this key spot of the door had none?

He became more cautious and turned around to check other areas.

That was when he discovered the issue.

At the turning door hinge, another wire was installed, concealed with vines, ready to spring open a fist-sized tripwire mine hidden in the grass beneath the soil the moment the door was pushed.

This device had shrapnel that could cause injuries up to thirty meters away—anyone triggered it would definitely suffer severely, if not fatally.

Disabling several mines took quite some time.

At the foot of the hill, other team members stood behind their vehicles, watching eagerly while cursing aloud.

They had set off in the morning, bought arms, and then headed to Baeza, arriving here by noon.

The recent thirty-meter stretch had taken Song Heping almost an entire hour.

He had only now reached the gateway.

It was already beyond one o'clock, nearly two.

Everyone's stomach was growling.

When people are hungry, their mood deteriorates.

"Suka! Let me blast him, see if he comes out or not!"

White Bear was furious enough to consider dragging the M240 machine gun from the vehicle to spray the house in a storm-like barrage, forcing the hidden Dominic to come out and surrender honestly.

"I want to see if he still plays tricks then!"

"Are you crazy?"

It was the cook who eventually stopped the nearly frantic White Bear.

"Wait for the commander's order!"

Grudgingly, White Bear restrained himself.

Song Heping, squatting next to the door hinge, carefully dismantled another deeply hidden mine.

Looking at the pair of mines he had removed, Song Heping felt the world seemed unreal.

Did Dominic have many enemies?

Otherwise, why would there be so many defensive devices placed here?

Entering the yard, Song Heping observed the surroundings, noting that every item could be important.

For instance, there were several chairs and a broken table in the yard.

Song Heping squatted next to a chair to examine it and found a pressure device underneath; any unfortunate soul unknowing enough to sit down would be blown to the sky immediately.

Even that pickup truck had a booby trap device installed inside, and it was very intricately set.

This made Song Heping think Dominic might be more of a bomb maniac than a pilot.

He no longer wanted to dismantle those trap mines; it was too time-consuming.

Clearing the mines here alone would probably take until sunset.

"Dominic!"

Song Heping yelled towards the house.

He no longer wished to knock on the door.

Just thinking with his toes, he could tell there would definitely be something deadly at the door.

His patience too had limits.

If it weren't for Chen introducing him to this place, he would have no interest in dealing with Dominic at all.

Even if he refused to cooperate, it wouldn't matter.

He could simply rethink his plans and redesign his tactics to daringly escape through the waterways of Colombia—nothing in the world would collapse without someone.

The airway was merely the fastest and safest route, not the only escape route.

"Dominic! I'm here to discuss business, not because I'm your enemy! If you want to meet, come out and meet me now. I have dismantled many of your trap mines, and if you still don't step out to respond, that's disrespect to me!"

He turned his head and shouted down the slope: "White Bear, get out the M72 rocket launcher, prepare to flatten this place!"

After speaking, he turned and left, retracing his steps.

"Great! Glad to assist!"

White Bear was excited!

He had already wanted to greet Dominic with the M240 machine gun, but now that Song Heping was asking him to use the M72 rocket launcher directly, his joy was immeasurable. Without a word, he pulled open the vehicle's rear door, took out an M72 tube, armed it, and aimed directly at the small cabin on the hillside.

Song Heping no longer cared to bother with Dominic.

Wasting so much time dismantling so many mines, this would serve as a little retribution.

For Song Heping, time was of the essence, and though wasting his money was tolerable, wasting his time was life-threatening.

"Hey, hey, hey, hey!"

The door of the small cabin creaked open.

A man in his thirties with hair like a bird's nest poked his head out.

"Let's talk this over!"

Song Heping turned around, and the man pointed at himself loudly stating, "I'm Dominic, you're Song Heping, right?"

Song Heping looked him over.

The guy was in a short-sleeved shirt and shorts, wearing slippers, and his dark complexion made it obvious he was of South American descent.

"You're Dominic?!"

"Yes, that's me. Hurry up and tell your man to put down that rocket launcher; don't let it accidentally fire!"

Dominic looked apprehensive about the M72 White Bear was holding.

"White Bear, put down the rocket launcher."

Song Heping turned and walked back into the yard, heading straight to the gate.

"Do you have many enemies? Why turn your home into a minefield?"

Dominic equivocated, "It's remote here; I use them to ward off wild animals."
