His words cut me deep into my heart. Although I knew that he didn't mean to hurt me, I bit my lips together in pain to know that Nana wasn't here because of me. After his mother, Nana was the only person who was close to Lorenzo.
Was I being too selfish to live with Lorenzo while he is sacrificing everything for me?
As I debated to find any answer, Aunt Kathy's voice drew my attention,
" How far are you?"
I looked up to give her a tentative smile, Lorenzo was still rubbing on my back to comfort me,
" 4 months, Aunt! I mean, it just started."
Aunt Kathy hummed in acknowledgement, took a sip from her wine before shifting her eyes on Jenny,
" What about you?ah.. what's your name? Sorry, I forgot.."
Jenny's face crumpled in rage but she managed to squeeze a smile to answer her,
" 5..5 months.."
Oh yes..Jenny was pregnant before me..
I must say that Aunt Kathy had a dominating character. She didn't hide the fact that she had forgotten Jenny's name. Either it was intentional or not, coming into the party without knowing the host's name was pretty rude. However, she nailed it honestly.
Aunt Kathy continued to speak, her sharp eyes shifting between me and Jenny,
" Though I am a doctor, I am guessing that Jenny will have a daughter. Her skin is glowing so well. And you darling...You guys will have a son. Treat me if it comes out true. "
All of us were stunned except Mr.King whose face broke into a smile. Lorenzo and I both exchanged a baffled look before smiling big to each other. Having a son was never our priority. As long as the baby was healthy, we were okay with that. When I switched my eyes back on Jenny, her expression was deadpanned.
Were they expecting a son? Why? Because of the property?
Lorenzo chuckled happily, pulling me closer to his embrace,
" We are happy as long as the baby is healthy, Aunt. Anyways, if it really becomes the truth, I am going to give you a Lamborghini."
Aunt Kathy chuckled back in response, toasting the glass with Lorenzo,
" Ditto! I will be praying every single day for your son, then."
Mr.King reminded us, catching our attention,
" Let's cut the cake, guys! Everyone is waiting."

The cake cutting ceremony went in dull. After what Aunt Kathy said to us, Leonardo didn't smile at Jenny for a second. Whenever they posed for the camera, it seemed fake and forced. Picking up my favorite red velvet cake, Lorenzo let me sit at a corner to eat alone. He was sitting next to me, getting several calls. I guess, he pushed all his work behind me to be here.
I felt my bladder pressing hard. These days were crazy with the frequent pressure of needing to pee. Getting up from the chair slowly, I told Lorenzo who was busy on the phone,
" I am going to the washroom. You don't have to come, Lorenzo. Just take the call.."
He opened his mouth to say something but I stopped him with a glare. Nodding, he gestured at me to go. Smiling, I headed in the direction of the bathroom which was pretty far from the crowded hall. Midway, I bumped into someone who was intentionally blocking my way.
Mrs.King, Leonardo's mother.
She spoke with a smile which didn't reach her eyes,
" Oh dear! Why are you in a rush? You should be careful now."
I was pretty sure that she just slipped between my paths because I was walking carefully slowly. Flashing her a smile, I replied giving her a short bow out of respect,
" Sorry, Mrs.King. I was going to the washroom."
She hummed mysteriously, took a sip of her wine before running her eyes on me from head to toe which made me cringe,
" Be careful these days! Who knows what might happen! "
I pressed my lips hard together. I didn't like the way she alerted me. It sounded more like she was hoping for an accident. Smiling back at her, I gave my response before heading off,
" I will, Mrs King unless some people want to hurt my baby intentionally."
Entering the bathroom, I splashed cold water all over my face. Such a bad day to encounter all of the evils! Talking about the news of the baby, I was still mad at Lorenzo for spilling the truth to Mr.King. Wherever I go now, I become extra careful instinctively.
As I came out of the bathroom, some distant chatter from the garden reached my ears. I intended to walk away but my curious mind wanted to take a look. Walking over the corridor, I spotted Jenny and Leonardo, arguing a few feet away from me. They didn't notice me yet as both of them looked pretty furious.
Jenny who was crying begged Leonardo, holding his hands together,
" Leonardo! Listen to me! It is our first baby. Don't be so cruel. I promise, if it turns out to be a girl, I will give birth to a son for you later but don't tell me that you will abandon our baby. I will die, Leonardo."
Leonardo pushed the pregnant woman hard, growled like a maddened beast,
" SHUT UP!! Do you think that I care about a child if it wasn't for that damn property? Damn it! I am still young. How dare you carry a daughter in your womb? I will fucking kill you, Jenny."
Jenny begged through her tears, her voice breaking all the way,
" But..it is your child..How can you do this.."
Leonardo barked back, gripping her shoulders fiercely,
" I WANT A SON! DO YOU UNDERSTAND? If it's not a son..I will.."
" What will you do?", Jenny finally reacted, sneering at Leonardo in disgust. She continued defending her until I heard the most unexpected line of my entire life,
" What will you do, Leonardo? Are you going to do the same with me like you did to that Lily girl?"
