• Keiran's POV •
My father and I came to the hospital the next morning. Apparently, he took a quick flight and was back before the sun was up. I wanted to go in my own ride but he didn't let me.
I decided to not argue and just do what he says. My mom's health was at stake right now and she needed us. I'm surprised I couldn't sleep at all last night because I kept thinking about her. A jerk like me had no idea I cared this much for her.
We walked into the ward and saw Damien standing next to her together with the nurse.
Mom was still unconscious and was using an oxygen tank to breath.
Damien stepped out and led us out of the room.
"Please, let's talk in my office." He said and we wordlessly followed him.
"Be quick with it, what is wrong with her? Tell me so I can provide whatever she needs to survive this." Dad said taking a seat while I stood.
"She has cancer of the blood, her whole system is gradually crashing and we will further examine her to know of it's terminal or not terminal. I think we should start treatment soon." Damien replied and there was a shift in the atmosphere.
Mom has cancer? How is that possible?
My breath hitched and I could no longer breath properly.
Does this mean we might loose her?
"Will she survive this?" Dad asked like he read my mind.
"Yes, she is a....werewolf." Damon whispered. "She has a high chance of recovering speedily to any treatment being given to her. Of course, I will consult the old witch and other health experts that might have an effective and quicker solution. I also want her to be moved to the pack house so she will be safer from shifting and being seen."
Dad nodded before getting up. He walked out of the office looking lost and I heard the door jam close.
"I'm so sorry, Keiran. Let's be positive that she will be alright, okay?" He cooed.
I nodded unable to say anything. I left the office and went after Dad. He had entered the men's restroom. I followed him for no reason but froze when I heard his voice from the closed door.
He was crying and that was the first time I heard or seen him doing so.
I wasn't even sure if he was crying for mom. Maybe he lost a contract or a deal worth millions.
My father can't be crying for mom. He really can't...
I was trying to convince myself as I felt my heart being heavy.
She will be alright.
We have enough resources to save her so why the f**k am i feeling like she died or something?
I pushed the emotions away and left the hospital, taking a ride to school though I wasn't with anything except my phone and money.
The teachers will have to deal with it.
I got to school and discovered classes had already begun. I ditch class and stayed alone in the locker room.
During lunch time, Ace and Hillary came right on the dot to the locker room.
"Why the hell do you look like you got dumped by a b**ch?" Hillary asked lifting me up from the chair.
"Nothing." I groused following them out of my temporary solace.
"What took you guys so long?" I asked glaring at Ace in particular. He was the first to see the message in the dumb group chat Hillary created.
"I'm sorry, I had mathematics and you know how strict the teacher is. He couldn't let anyone leave and even ended up confiscating four phones from students during his period." He replied and I sighed knowing I've forgiven him already.
We decided to stay in the music room to hang out since no one would be using it the entire day.
"Crazy news, Keiran. Hillary and I are gonna start after school tutoring. Welcome us to the club, bro." Ace said and Hillary scoffed.
"I can't believe I got roped into this." He whined like a child.
"Why are you guys joining? Your grades are...acceptable." I pointed out.
"We want to keep you company." Ace replied with an 'obvious' expression.
"No way, you both are distractions." I retorted and Ace chuckled.
"I'm looking for a girlfriend, Keiran and I can't do it without you. Help me find one. Before it skip my mind again, are you really in a relationship with Umbrie?" Hillary said shocking me.
"What the — Stay out of my personal life, you Jughead."
"What?... I just want to know the girls that are off limits." Hillary persisted.
"Haven't you seen how good she treats me? It should tell your dumb brain she has strong interest in me. I'm still considering it though. We have to be careful these days. Relationships are just weird." I pretended to be ignorant.
"Have she texted you since today?" Ace asked and I blinked.
That's f**king true.
Umbrie hasn't called me or text me and it's already half of the day.
She haven't seen me in class so how can she not ask of me?
I bought out my phone and checked my call history but there was no missed call from her.
That's very odd since she's on a mission to making this mating thing work out.
"He's completely flustered." Ace whispered to Hillary and they laughed hysterically.
"Shut up..." I groused at them before dialing Umbrie's number.
After a few rings, she answered and I could hear the sound of water running as though she was in a shower. The sound died down eventually and I could hear her voice.
"Hello, Keiran?" Umbrie asked from the other line and I raised my brows.
"Aren't you in school? What's with the shower?"
"I'm in school but I am in the locker room. We just finished practicing soccer." She replied.
"Oh.." I drawled trying hard not to imagine her in the shower.
I thought about mom though and if I should tell Umbrie what the doctor said.
I was thinking about it when suddenly;
"Would you like to go on a date with me?" I said before I even realized it.
Ace and Hillary looked at me.
What the f**k did I say?
I was waiting for her response when she hung up the call. I glanced at the screen multiple times. Why did she hang up?
What sort of answer is that?
