"Don't forget to call Doctor Mercado tomorrow," I smiled at Mrs. Watkins
and turned to shake her husband's hand. "Andrew is a buddy, so I'll let
him know you're coming."
"Hey, you people are young, healthy, and you've only recently begun
trying, and Doctor Mercado is the best at what he does. You won't have
any difficulty conceiving, believe me."
Before they left, the young couple smiled and thanked me heartily.
I smiled as I gathered my belongings. Yes, this was one of my favorite
aspects of my job. But now that the day was done, it was time to go find
the thing I adored more than anything else in the world, and hug her in
my arms like I'd never let her go.

Since she'd left an hour before, I'd been too preoccupied to contact or
text her, but I imagined she'd be waiting for me at my house. I snarled,
hoping to find her just as I had hoped: naked and in my bed.
Alternatively, I might be naked and sitting on my kitchen counter.
Alternatively, I could be naked and on all fours in my bathtub.

spent the entire afternoon!" "
"She's a patient," I told her.
"Excuse me, Simon!" Or are you going to try to convince me that you take
all of your patients to your private office and that you spend hours in
that apartment? "
My jaw was tightened and my eyes narrowed as I froze.
"I'm leaving," I said as I walked passed her, my heart pounding in my
ears.
"Goodnight. Hei-"
"I wouldn't worry about it if it's she you're going to see."
My muscles tensed as I froze.
"What?"
"I mean, I'd think she's canceled your plans if you made them with her."
I snarled and turned to face her, my face red with wrath. "What the fuck
are you talking about, Heidi?" says the narrator. "
She sighed theatrically, "I mean." "I'm sure I'd cancel if the man I
believed cared about me turned out to be a manwhore who'd had another
patient."
My heart stopped when the floor gave apart beneath me.
I shook my head quietly and murmured, "No."
Heidi gave a nasty grin. "Actually, yes. How could I not tell her,
Simon? She had every right to know that the grossly improper doctor,
whom we're about to get rid of anyhow, had already gotten another poor
girl pregnant."
"You scumbag!" I screamed. "You didn't have the right to-"
"Right now, I should fire you!"
"You can't speak to me like that!" she said, her face flushed as she
took a step back from me.
I hissed, "The board is in charge of my position here, Heidi."
"So they'll be the ones to fire you." Actually, probably by the end of
today."
I began to open my mouth, but she intervened.
"Oh, Simon, the lawyers say it's a done deal," says the lawyer. The kid
is yours, the girl is accusing you of something, and-"
"I didn't even touch her!"
"You pig, you did it!" she snarled. "To prove it, we have Ella's
statement and unquestionable DNA tests!"
I muttered, "That's impossible."
Heidi retorted, "Tell it to the board. Perez, you're done here."
In a haze, I made my way down to the parking garage. My entire world
seemed to be collapsing around me, but there was only one thing I cared
about. Forget about your job and your career. It didn't matter how much
effort I'd put into it because there was something more important for me
to be concerned about.

The rest is a waste of time. It was only a matter of finding her and
persuading her to see the reality. My mind was racing, my heart was
sinking in my chest, and my vision was blurring as I stumbled out of the
elevator. Addison was the only thing that mattered. That was the only

As my eyes caught on her - on my Addison - my head jerked up and my jaw
dropped.
"Addison-"
She was instantly in my arms. She'd flung herself into me and wrapped
her arms around me tightly. I moaned and buried my face in her hair,
embracing her tightly.
I said slowly, "I have to tell you something.It's difficult to convey
everything, but-"
"I know you didn't," she replied softly, her gaze rising to mine. "I
love you, Simon, and I know you didn't."
As my heart melted for her, I grabbed her into me and kissed her with
everything I had.
I murmured against her lips, "I love you too, sweetheart. I'm sorry you
had to learn this from her in such a rude manner."
Addison muttered, "She's a nasty bitch."
I nodded, my jaw gritted.
"Look, there's going to be a lot of horrible stuff happen, but-"
When I saw Addison's face break into a broad, toothy grin, I came to a
halt.
"Oh, a lot of horrible stuff is about to happen," she remarked, a grin
on her face and a twinkle in her eyes. "Just not to you."
When she reached into her bag and brought out her phone, my brow
furrowed and I began to open my mouth.
"This is something you must hear."
I shook my head as I listened, my wrath rising up inside of me. When it
was finished, Addison slid the phone back into her bag and slowly turned
it off.
"You...how?" I gaped at her, encircling her with my arms and shook my
head.
"Because I love you," she said quietly, her gaze fixed on me. "No one
will ever be able to take that away from me."
"I love you, too," I grumbled as I wrapped my arms around her and gently
kissed her.
Then it became even more ferocious.
And, to be honest, I didn't stop kissing her till I lost track of time.
"Would you like to return home?"

With a mischievous smirk on her lips, she responded, "Well, that
depends."
With a raised brow, I returned the smile. "On? "
"Well, you see, I'm undergoing therapy for this issue." And I suppose I
need to get my medication refilled," she said, biting her lower lip and
looking very lovely and seductive as she looked up at me and batted
hers.
"Doctor, could you please refill my prescription?"
