I tried my best to get away from the class as images of Aldrin kissing Alya kept flashing in my head.
I couldn't exactly process anything else. I mean, that actually did hurt seeing the two of them together.
She pulled away when I kissed her and yet she let Aldrin kiss her in front of everyone. How did I ever even think I had a chance?
This was the very reason I had stayed away the first time. If only these fucking feelings wouldn't keep coming back!
As I got further away from the class and nearer to the empty building next to our block, I heard a song which became clearer as I got closer.

I stopped at the source of the music as I found Kaira seating on a pavement with a music player next to her.
I sat on the pavement trying my best to give a reasonable amount of space between the both of us. After the last time I saw her at the mall and she became all touchy, I had been trying my best to keep a good distance between us. Her song kept playing as I soon heard Trippie Redd's voice.
"Ever felt like just dying", she asked after sometime. I glanced at her as she stared on at the field. She took a drag from a cigarette.
I glanced at the cigarette in surprise. She wasn't holding a cigarette when I first came here. I swear it just appeared in her hands now.
"No", I said wondering why on earth I would want to die. She laughed a little.
"Good for you", she said still staring at the lawn.
"Which would be the best way to die? To fall to my death or let myself bleed out in water? The latter seems more exciting but it will really sting", she said and I winced at the thought.
"Either one. I don't really care", I said.
"Yeah... Of course you don't. You never did from the beginning", she said and I kept quiet wondering what was up with her again.
"Remember that day I kissed you and you pushed me?" She asked and I stared at her lost. That happened?
"When was that?" I asked.
"Of course you wouldn't remember", she said with a smile taking another drag from her cigarette.
"If not for that push, I actually thought you liked me", she said and I started recalling the incident she was talking about.
She asked me out saying something about her doing it since I was taking too long and she knew I couldn't hold back my feelings.
Before I could even understand the genesis of her story, she kissed me. I was so startled that I did the first thing I thought of doing which was pushing her.
Was I wrong for doing that?
'Of course you were moron!' My subconscious yelled at me.
I sighed. How did I keep offending everyone I came across?
"But it's great," She said looking at me this time.
"What do you think of Aldrin and Alya?" She asked and my heart sank.
"What about them?"
"You didn't see their kiss?" She asked and I kept quiet.
"You really like her don't you?" She asked again and I didn't say anything.
"You two would have made a nice couple but unfortunately, her and Aldrin make a better couple. Maybe I am just saying because they are an actual couple but..."
"Aldrin is dating Alya?" I asked in shock. Shock was an understatement.
"You didn't know? I thought he was your best friend", she said. I laughed standing up.
"Of course. He is. If they were dating he would tell me. He probably kissed her because of some shit dare", I said.
"You denying the fact doesn't change anything. You know, it gets easier living with the fact that the person you like doesn't have any feelings whatsoever for you. You'll survive", she said chuckling at the last part.
I glared at her.
"Still don't believe me? Hold on." She picked up her iPhone and stared pressing the screen before she tilted it for me to collect.
I took the phone as I watched the video. Chiamaka and Aldrin were the ones on screen and their voices could be heard loudly from the music player.
"So you like Alya?" Chiamaka asked Aldrin with a smile.
"Yeah", he said rubbing the back of his head and Chiamaka hugged him.
"So sorry. I got carried away. I am so happy for you guys. So you guys are officially a couple. I am really really happy..."
The video was interrupted as the iPhone fell down from my hands.
"Hey! You just dropped my phone. Do you know how much it cost?" Kaira asked flinging away her cigarette and rushing to her phone.
"Serves you right", I said and started walking away.
"Wait!" She yelled behind me and I made the mistake of turning at that moment as I tripped her over and we fell to the ground my lips crashing against hers.

He turned around to face me smirking once more. That frustrated me once more as I fisted my palm and let it land on his nose.
I tried my best to add as much force as I could even though I knew I shouldn't. He deserved way more than that.
He staggered back as he held his nose and I saw red drip to the floor. A few people gathered around him.
"Dude, are you okay?" Ubaro asked and he didn't answer just held his nose. He raised his eyes and stared at me.
Serves you right son of a bitch.
"I told you that was a stupid idea. Why do you never listen to me?" Ubaro asked Aldrin who was still staring at me. He looked up at me also.
I left the class feeling suffocated. I paced around the hallway leading to art class for god knows how long before someone roughly stopped my movement.
I looked up to see an enraged Aisha. I stared at her wondering what her problem was now. I wasn't even with Auti. Didn't she only have a problem with me because she felt insecure when I was around Auti?
"Why did you punch Aldrin?" She asked and I stared at her like she fell from a different planet.
"And how is that your headache?"
"Stop avoiding the question and tell me why you punched him."
"I will tell you when he gives me a reason for kissing me without my permission."
"It was a dare honey. And besides, it was just a kiss. Just a kiss and you destroyed his nose. He's fucking bleeding in there and you're out here unconcerned. I could report you right now and get you suspended you know that right?"
"Go ahead", I said with a scoff. She glared at me.
"There's a fine difference between being human and being pathetic. I won't say anything, not because of you. Rather, because you are Auti's good friend and I wouldn't want..."
"Spare me the sermon. You are talking about Auti as if you actually care. Let me remind you that he isn't here right now so you can drop the act.
"I know you don't give an actual damn about Auti Shakes. I don't exactly know why a slut like you is still hanging around him but I really don't care.
"A disaster like yourself shouldn't be out here telling me what is right or wrong. Rather you can go back to Aldrin and help him with his nose. He might just end up being your rebound when Auti finally sees that your just some desperate bitch who doesn't give two fucks about him..."
"ALYA!!" I heard someone scream from behind. I turned to see Auti glaring at me. Yes, Auti Shakes was glaring at me. If eyes could kill, I would have been long gone.
I stared at him as he glared back and I was about to ask him why he yelled my name when I heard soft sobs.
I turned in surprise to see Aisha's face soaked in tears. Jesus! That was fast. I swear she didn't even look phased when I was talking to her a second ago. Where the hell did these tears appear from?
Next thing she was running to Auti as I still stared at her in shock. No, shock was an understatement.
She hugged Auti on getting to him. He hugged her back as he patted her head. I stared at the both of them as if they both were just normal and suddenly just ran mad.
Gratefully, they stopped hugging in no time. Aisha soon left me and Auti there alone. Once she was clearly out of earshot, Auti started talking.
"Why were you saying those things to Aisha?"
"I was just telling her that truth. If she didn't want to hear that, she should have fucking minded her own business. She was the one that walked up to me questioning me for punching Aldrin after he forcefully kissed me. How is that even her concern to..."
"Aldrin is her cousin", Auti said interrupting me and my jaw probably fell off from my face.
"She was just trying to stand up for him. You can't exactly blame her. And you said the most hurtful things to her..."
"Shut up", I said extremely irritated. "Why are you taking her side when she is obviously in the wrong?"
"Because I love her", he said and my eyes widened. I truly knew the meaning of jaw drop today.
"Wow. Oshey! Lover. Well I am not interested in your so called love for her. You two should just do well to stay away from me", I said turning around to leave.
"Alya", he called coming closer.
"Ten feet from me at all times", I said before leaving. I headed for the empty block next to ours. I slowed down when I started hearing noises. I stopped and looked around until I saw Ifeanyi and Kaira...
