Then suddenly Veronica looked up from where she was seated and saw that the ladies who were after her had stopped chasing her because they had seen a band of police men and they needed to do away with the guns they had with them. The police however had seen them and had tried to engage them. The ladies sure that they wouldn't stand a chance if they were to have a face-off with the police entered the road and took to their heels. It was at that point before they ran from the police that Veronica dialed the number of Charles and was whispering over the phone. She had got off from the gutter where she had hid herself and then sneaked out of the place.

Edu had got cold in the city and he needed to find shelter else he would fall sick. He stood up from where he had been seated and began to head towards an open stall. When he got there he bought some few stuffs and sat near the stall. The woman that owned the shop however kept staring at him.

In the village where Shanty had gone to and having found herself a small apartment and rented she did not stop with her work, finding opportunities online. She was on the bed and with her fingers on the laptop when her neighbor knocked and she opened the door. The neighbor, a girl her age, very beautiful, fair and fast with speech entered and sat on the bed. Shanty could not stop wondering why she suddenly became too close with her just few days she arrived the village. She hated making friends all of a sudden. She kept staring at her as she spoke alot of words at the same time.
"I hope you would not mind if I see what you are doing in your laptop? I had this kind of system once but lost it to thieves" the lady had said. At that moment Shanty looked at her and asked, "Thieves come around this place?"
"Yes, they do. We have alot of bad boys around here, but the bad boys around here don't steal from the villagers, instead they steal from visitors, visitors like you. It is other thieves from other places that come to steal from the villagers here. But you don't have to be scared for as long as I am here I will speak for you, I will protect you" the lady sounded confidently and Shanty just shook her head. She didn't want to trust anyone just yet and she was not going to pretend about not being or going to trust anyone in that village. She rose up and closed the laptop.

Rose had already been noticed by Charles that he needed her to go to Veronica's house and ensure everything was in place. Rose sighed deeply and asked, "Sir, I have heard what you said, I'm only moved to ask and if that wouldn't make you angry; when do I get to see with my son?" Charles sat down as though he was expecting that.
"You know Rose, you know without being told that it took me alot to conceal what happened to your husband and take away the eyes of the police from you right? He asked and Rose swallowed hard. He then continued, "I'm telling you now, you have to first become a family before you can answer a mother again. How do you become a family again? By enabling me to trust you again. You go to Veronica's house and scout the place. She is on a mission and I'm sure she will return safely, you on the other hand I will have use for you soon but hearing about you asking to be with your son only makes matters worse for you.. Your son Abel will be fine where he is. We are taking care of him and ensuring that his education goes on smoothly. If you were with him wouldn't that be what you would want for him; that he goes to school and do better like every other smart kid out there? He is still very young and I wouldn't risk him around you now that you are family" When he said this he stood up and added, "We have something important that we must do and you are being given an assignment in one of those thing" Rose saluted him and left the office. When she stepped outside she was filled with deep thoughts. She kept wondering how a man could be so dangerous.
When she arrived the house of Veronica she discovered that the place was shut and she having the keys handed over to her by Charles was able to gain access into the building. The magnificent building stood on the street of the city.
When Rose entered into the house the woman seller who sells in a stall beside the road tapped Edu on the shoulder to inform him that the person he had been waiting for had arrived the house. He stood up and dropped the orange he was holding which he has wanted to peel and lick and stood up. "You said she is someone you have always loved right from the village?" The woman was asking and Edu nodded. The woman shook her head pitifully and Edu could see she was announcing there was no hope for him where Veronica was any longer, having seen that a lady he claimed to love had built a house such as that; such a woman would have high class men whom she would be mingling with and not a boy from the village.
"I believe if God is with you she will listen to you again" said the woman. Edu didn't say anything to that, instead he smiled and nodded, then headed away, with his backpack hung over his shoulders.
When Edu entered the gates, having seen the car that packed outside walked briskly into the house. When he got in he did not see anyone inside the sitting room. Without a word he wanted to make his way into the next room but then he felt an object prick him from the back and he stopped, then a voice came through his back. "You make any move, any silly move and I will shoot you ten times in a second" Edu stood there, not making a move, just staring at the air and trying to raise both hands to show surrender. "Raise both hands up and do that slowly, I repeat if you make any silly move I'm going to shoot you ten times in a second, you know what means, it means I'm faster than you think, so don't be deceived by the female voice you are hearing. Get down on your kneels at once" She commanded further and Edu went down on his kneels suddenly.

Same lady that had gone into the room of Shanty who was staying in her village had gone to meet with her brother and she said to him, "I found someone special and she is new here" she was smiling. The brother smiled and held her by the neck and gave her a kiss on the cheek and said, "You have done well. My dream to get married surely will be fulfilled" when he said this they both laughed. Just then another guy came from the brother's back and handed him a pistol. With the pistol he put it in his back and asked the sister to lead the way. The lady smiled and led the way. When they got to a spot she pointed towards her house and said, "There is where she stays. Let's go" She wanted to make another move but the brother held her back and said, "No, you aren't going there with us and you know it"
"I thought we discussed this already" she was complaining.
"We have discussed nothing. You haven't reached the level of going on operation with us. You have to go away right now while we take care of this" He said and she wasn't happy about this.
"Just don't shoot her" she begged" the brother stared deeply into her eyes and said, "Since you are worried for her and you so want to be part of this then go ahead, go ahead and lead the way" She was excited that he said that and then led the way after they had put on their masks, the made their way until they got into the room of Shanty. Shanty was trying to dress up when they entered. Having taken her bath and had only towel around her she was scared to the core. She saw they were robbers and what actually made her even more angry was seeing that a lady was with them. She couldn't recognise any of them for they had masks on their faces. Just then she knelt down having had a gun pointing on her head. The second guy then went for her things and started picking them. When he was done the brother to the lady wanted to have a feel of Shanty's body as he had stared at her lustfully. His sister seeing what he was about to do held him by the hand and shook her head. The brother was disappointed in his sister for stopping him but he was ready to listen to her and they were about to walk out of the room with the things that they had stolen when someone entered, a man and the brother to the lady pointed the gun at him and commanded him to step out of their way.
"I can't do that, not until you return the lady's belongings" said the man. Shanty looked up to see the man's face from where she was laying face down and was shocked go see that it was Jude standing there. Jude had located her place and had headed there only to meet this sight and he was not ready to let them go free. He insisted they returned Shanty's possessions but when the brother to the lady refused and tried to force himself out with his sister and the other guy, hoping he could actually force his way out without having to fire a shot at Jude, but unknown to him, the man standing there was no ordinary man and he wasn't ready to let them go away without a fight. He kicked out the gun from his hand and when the other guy saw what happened and brought out his marchet Jude kicked it out of his hand as well. They were armless and just then they didn't need to be told that Jude was good at what he does. They then realised they had to either run or fight their way out of the room. At this point the lady who knew she was in a bigger risk of being killed or captured tried to force her way outside first but Jude pushed her and she fell back and the mask fell off her face. Just then Shanty saw the face of the one that had led armed robbers into her apartment. She was infuriated to see this but she didn't move where she was laying faced down. Just then the two boys fought with Jude but Jude beat them until they were almost unable to make their way out of the room. He pushed them out and they reared in pain as they ran away. After they were gone Jude then turned to the lady who fell and remained on the floor where she had been pushed down to and looked at Shanty. Shanty slowly stood up too and they both kept staring at the lady who was already shedding tears where she was laying down.
Few minutes later Jude was already asking the lady out of the room but before she could step outside he held her hand and whispered to the hearing of Shanty, "Don't bring more friends of yours here"
