Ariel bit her nails as she looked out through the glass wall of her apartment that night.
"Big Sis, come. Let's drink together." Ivan, her toyboy said as he plopped into her sofa.
"Just drink by yourself." She replied.
"Why do you look so dispirited?"
What did he know? He wasn't even aware of the fact that she was a vampire. She knew her spot on the angels of death's table was questioned most times behind her back by the others as her role wasn't clear. Lucian handled money, Sahan hatched new vampires, Vael was the one who handled the dirty affairs, Joel was Master's right hand man and Mamon was in charge of 0101 project.
She needed to prove that she was a worthy asset to the Master and protect her seat among the angels of death. And the only way to do that was to get the pureblood's heart.
Her life had taken a drastic turn on the day she'd been bitten accidentally by a vampire. She'd managed to come back to the orphanage after three days but no one had noticed her absence in the orphanage except one person, Ariel Martin.
She was the star of the orphanage and Julian had been distancing herself from her as she felt less in comparison.
After she'd confessed about being bitten to her, Ariel had hugged her and made her feel at ease during the days on the verge of despair.
That was when she'd started a new life with Ariel.
Next to Ariel who wanted to become an actress, she'd followed in her steps and had also wished to become an actress who was loved by everyone. Ariel filled up the need for a family and she'd thought their relationship would last forever until that day came.
She had an unbreakable nest in her heart, a nest that could withstand any wind and since she had Ariel with her, she'd considered it more than enough.
Ariel started hanging out with a guy and whenever she'd wanted to join, Ariel had raised a hand to stop her.
This happened on several occasions at school but when they'd been back to the orphanage, Ariel would be herself.
One fateful day at school, she overheard the guy telling Ariel that she was ugly. She'd never considered herself ugly until she'd seen the expression on Ariel's face that day.
She'd tried to talk to Ariel that night, but she'd explained that Julian had been wrong about it, and she'd tried to cuddle her after they'd cleared out the situation, only for Ariel to slap off her hand.
The sadness inside of her which succumbed to rage made her strangle her, rubbing her thumb around her lip right before Ariel died and when she'd come back to her senses, she'd become Ariel Martin.
Her rage hadn't stopped there as she was determined to end the guy who she'd believed stole her friend from her. But his reaction had been different from what she'd expected.
She'd realized, thanks to him,the reason Ariel had been avoiding her had been because she's been trying to cast her in for the movie, Ariel had been called to act.
According to him, Ariel had told him she could act without her.
It had become clear when the misunderstanding had started. She'd tried to force her feelings on Ariel, but she'd locked and killed her in her nest instead.
She'd been living her life in guilt all these while, and been wanting to erase her memories and the chance had finally come as the Master had offered to erase her memories if she could get the pureblood's heart.
Ivan walked up to her from behind, jerking her out of her thoughts as he wrapped his arms around her waist. "Are you okay,Big Sis? You seemed tense."
She massaged her forehead with her fingers. "Yeah, a little." She replied and he lowered his lips to trail kisses down her neck.
"Then... do you want me to distract you?" He asked, in a low but husky voice.
He was right. She could definitely do with some distraction.
She slowly turned to send kisses up his neck and he lowered his hands to her derriere.
How stupid of him to think it was sex as usual, she thought to herself as she raised her hands to grab at his shirt before she sank her fangs into his neck.
"Big..." He struggled and he tried to break free from her hold as she busied herself, slurping up his blood.
He yelled in pain as he tried to push her away and she felt his heartbeat dropping. It didn't matter, he'd offered to distract her anyway.
"Where are you going, anyway?" Katherine asked and Kaiwan raised his eyes to look at her.
"Ash called me out." She replied and Katherine's eyes dilated.
"That crazy bitch who disguised as you on TV?" She asked and Kaiwan rose and walked over to meet her.
"Where are you meeting her?" He asked and she took out her phone and turned the screen to him.
'You need to be taught a lesson for messing with me. Come here.' The anonymous message read and it had come with a location.
"This has saved a lot of time.Let's head there."
"What about me?" Katherine said on their way out.
"Head home, first. We'll call you when we get back." Zuriña replied.
"Alright."
They walked to the garage and hurriedly clambered up their bikes.
"I found something strange while investigating."
"What's that?"
"I managed to find the files that were erased from the Chief's laptop. Each folder contained a file called 0101 project. It feels like every incident that has happened is linked to that project." He said and wore his radio earpiece over his ear before he wore his helmet over his head.
"What's the project all about?" She asked as they drove out of the garage.
"It's the first time I've come across it,so I'm not sure...But I feel it's scale isn't limited to just Ash." He said.
"0101 project might be the point that ends everything." She muttered to herself as she drove ahead of him.
The location Ash had sent her was out of town and both were surprised to have been led to a building in construction.
"Be careful, this might be a trap." Kaiwan said as they alighted their bikes and headed for the building.
"Yes...It was different from the previous vampires. Ash called me first...and to a place which might benefit her."
"I guess she wants to finish everything here." He replied.
It was quiet and cold when they walked in and he was surprised to see Ash seated and waiting for them.
"You're finally here."
