It was mid-afternoon by the time they reached the mansion. Simmi took care of everything. Although she didn't know much about after delivery care, Mrs Khanna helped her. As soon as they entered the mansion Mrs Khanna stood there.
"Welcome home beta ." After completing the rituals she took the baby from Sujata and kissed on his forehead, "come on, Sujata let's go to your room". Making her comfortable in her room she then gives her some tips on baby care." Ok kids now I will take leave if you need anything I'm just at a phone's distance. Bye, take care." with that she leaves.
Sujata is now on her own, she was very tired so she slipped into a deep slumber. The wails of the baby awakened her. She cradles the baby while feeding, "my baby is hungry let us feed him. Then, we will talk, you are mama's prince. Mama loves you." She starts cradling and humming a lullaby which eventually makes the baby sleepy.
Taking notice of the grumbling of her stomach she realises she has not eaten anything for a long time. Exactly then there was a knock on the door and Simmi entered with porridge. It smelt divine, she was so famished that she just devoured herself in it.
" It is so delicious who made it".
"I had made it," shyly Simmi replied.
"It is delicious, can you make it for me every day?"She nodded and went away.
Sujata Pov
The sunlight entering through the window broke my slumber and I realised it was late morning. Abhimanyu kept me awake almost the whole night so I slept till late. After finishing my business in the washroom I came out in search of Simmi. She can look at Abhimanyu for some time and I can work for some time with Rajan. He will go to Mumbai and before that, I have to take over by him. The last month of my pregnancy took a toll on me so I could not concentrate on work.
"Bhabhi do you need something?" Sujata was startled hearing Simmi's voice. She composed herself.
"I was searching for you only. Go and spend some time with Abhimanyu as I need to work with Rajan," said Sujata rather rudely and walked away.
Simmi immediately ran towards Sujata's room as Abhimanyu's wailing could be heard. Thereupon changing his diapers she took him to Sujata so she could feed him.
From the time Rajan had gone to Mumbai Sujata had started going to the office. Although she would only spend some time as she has to nurse Abhimanyu also. Simmi would look after Abhimanyu in the absence of Sujata.
A new hotel project was on the way which required Sujata's presence which increased Simmi's workload. Her exams were around the corner. Abhimanyu was now six months old and would smile and could roll over so he requires much attention now.
Simmi was engrossed in her studies and didn't notice that Abhimanyu was at the edge of the bed. All of a sudden she hears Sujata shouting, "Simmi, what are you doing, if I wouldn't have come on time Abhi would have fallen. You have only one job that is to look after Abhi and that you can't do properly". Sujata's voice was high pitched.
Simmi was shocked to hear the allegations with teary eyes she said, "bhabhi I'm so sorry I was so engrossed in my studies that I didn't notice . Please bhabhi," and she started sobbing profusely.
Sujata felt bad for speaking so harshly but she maintained her demeanour and went away from there.
Simmi pov
After sobbing for some time I realised that it was the feeding time of Abhi. I composed myself and got up to bring him from bhabhi's room. I knocked on the door and entered," bhabhi Abhi must be hungry, may I take him. I will be very cautious." Simmi bowed her head and was fidgeting with her fingers.
"I think he is hungry, that is why he is getting irritated. But be very careful, else be ready for the consequences." Sujata picked Abhi and handed him to Simmi.
I took Abhi and went away. It was taking a toll on me. I was feeling very tired. There were dark circles under my eyes and my skin was getting pale but I can not afford to be careless.
Days turned to weeks and weeks to months and months to years. Today was Abhi's fourth birthday. A grand party was organised at our house. Everyone, who was someone, was invited. After Abhi was ready I also got ready. As bhabhi was looking after Abhi today I was free I started enjoying the party. I met Reeta aunty and asked her about Sanjay. She told me that Sanjay won't come till another year. I got sad about hearing it but composed myself.
It was around midnight when the party ended. As Abhi was sleeping I too went to sleep. I was so tired that I immediately went into a deep slumber.
The next morning she woke up with little hands patting her to wake up. Upon opening her eyes she found Abhi standing near her patting and trying to wake her up, "bua( father's sister) mama nahi, can't find mama" with that, he started crying. Simmi was baffled to see Abhi as she had left him with Sujata last night, after the party. However, her priority was to calm Abhi then she will find Sujata. She pulls him in a hug and gives him some biscuits to eat. Carrying Abhi, she starts searching for Sujata.
Upon arriving downstairs she finds Sujata crying." bhabhi what happened why are you crying"
" Yesterday Naman met with an accident in which he was critically injured and his wife died. His son also suffered injuries?. Naman is in the ICU." with that Sujata started sobbing profusely.
" Bhabhi, please calm down. See Abhi is also becoming restless seeing you cry." Simmi was trying her best to pacify Sujata.
Sujata takes Abhi from Simmi, "I'm going to Kolkata for a few days, pack my suitcase and Abhi will be staying with you, take care of him. Since you are not studying these days, I think there won't be any distractions. I have asked Reeta, aunty, to stay with you till I am back." Sujata hugged Abhi.
"Ok bhabhi, I will do as you wish. I'm giving you a banana for Abhi's breakfast, please feed him meanwhile I will do the packing for you" Simmi went from there after giving Banana to Sujata.
