Ethan.
I paused to catch my breath in front of the door once it clicked shut behind me and to listen for any reaction from Aurora, when I didn't get any, I exhaled deeply and turned to Sam to see him narrowing his eyes down at me.
I wanted to believe I was a bit close to achieving something with Aurora. Even though we had a love-hate relationship. Even though we had a fight last night. Had Sam not stepped in, I would have…
“You said you weren't going to do it. Maybe that's why I had this feeling that you were lying.”
“Where did you say she is?” I asked to deflate the question. The least thing I needed was Sam telling me how wrong it would be to have anything with Aurora. That I already knew, but no matter how wrong it was, I still wanted it.
Sam cut me a sharp look before lowering his eyes, “by your car at the gate.”
“And she didn't state the reason for wanting to see me?” I asked as I began walking to the gate.
“Nah-uh.” Sam took to my side, "Is she the one?” He asked after a while.
“The one for what?”
He raised a shoulder, “You spent all day with her yesterday, and you were excited when you came back.”
“Excited?” I turned to look at him with a raised brow. “I'm certain we didn't have any interaction all day.”
“I know, but, I saw you come in and you looked happier. At least before you went to the doctor's room.”
“You're spying on me now?”
“I just happened to be around at the same time. Look, my Lord, I know you are a grown man capable of making your own decisions, but as a friend, I will advise you to steer clear of the doctor. She is hot as hell, yes, but that's not enough reason to throw away everything you have worked for. Miss Tiffany is in the picture now, maybe you should try to focus on her. What you feel for the doctor will pass, I'm sure.”
I stopped as we arrived at the gate and turned fully to Sam, “Next time Sam, keep any compliments for Aurora to yourself. And moreover, you don't know Aurora, so you have no idea what she is worth. And I never said Tiffany was the endgame.”
Mustering a smile, I turned to the gate and walked over to Tiffany. She was wearing a bright smile and radiating the same energy as yesterday. Her fingers were adorned with rings today again only they were not the same as yesterday's, she wore a casual shirt and jeans and her hair was packed in a low ponytail.
Even as casual as she was dressed, she was still very stunning. A few hours ago, I was decided that she was the one but, at the moment, I was beginning to have questions.
“Hey, you.” I greeted as I approached her, before I could blink, she was wrapping her arms around my shoulder and pulling me in a hug with a peck on my cheek.
I was a big fan of PDA, but there was something unsettling about what she did.
I cleared my throat, “this isn't how I expected a matter of urgency to be treated.”
She pulled away from the hug and stood a breath away from me. “It really is important, but I have missed you.”
I faked a cough and took some steps away from her, “I'm sorry,” I coughed again. “ I don't know what is with the weather today. So what is so important that you had to come down here.”
She locked her fingers and began picking at them, the next second, “it… it's my parents.”
AURORA.
The idea of Ethan getting married again had not settled well with me the previous night, but it did not make me feel as hurt as I am at the moment. Perhaps, because it was one thing that Ethan had mentioned it and another to know that he wasn't kidding about it.
That lady, the said fiancée was now an important part of his life. If not the most important part at this point.
Giving Arne a kiss on the forehead, I started on my way back to the palace. Kelly arrived a few minutes ago with Arne's change of clothes and breakfast for the both of us, but I had decided to take a bath first before having anything.
I felt dirty and also, I felt the need to scrub away Ethan's lingering scent on my body. It made me uneasy and angry. That he could be so sexy and devilish at the same time, that he could want me and not want me the next second, heck! That I did not want him and, at the same time, be dying for a touch from him.
Just as I stepped outside the hospital building, I saw the lady pulling Ethan in a tight hug and giving him a peck. My stomach churned. Hearing Ethan's involvement with another lady had nothing on seeing them be so affectionate to each other.
Watching them was far worse. It was… what the fuck am I doing? I shook my head and headed to my office. There was no way I was walking through that gate with Ethan and his whore standing there.
The fuck Aurora!
I stopped and leaned against the railing to compose myself.
“The lady will be his wife soon. There is no need to be angry, we don't need him, we have moved on, he is now our past, a past we are better off without.” I muttered to myself.
'But he is our mate,' Zoey said.
“Oh fuck that,” I leaned up from the railing and marched towards my office, “we are moving to Greece, and we are giving Arne the father he has always wanted.”
'Reginald?'
“Your words, not mine.”
The door to my office was ajar as I got to it, narrowing my eyes, I pushed the door open before slowly stepping into it.
Apart from the piece of paper which was on the floor, everything was in place. I let go of the door, and it clicked shut behind me, and I bent down to pick up the paper.
As I stood up, the door to my bathroom opened and the least person I expected to see emerged from it, wiping her hands with a paper towel.
“Hello there, little sis.”
Oh, fuck!
