Reclaiming His Luna Chapter 43

Aurora

“Good heavens, Arne!" The wail escaped my lips once I caught sight of his bloody hands.

"What happened to you? How did you get injured? Didn't I tell you to not touch anything?” I bombarded him with questions as I rushed towards him to check his injury.

My sharp tone and questions only made him flinch in fear and I immediately felt bad. I quickly took him to the bathroom and placed his hands under cool running water, fortunately the cut was not that deep or long. When all the blood was washed off, I took him back to the office and dried his hands with a towel.

“How did you cut yourself?” I asked in a softer tone while I took care of his wound.

He sniffled, “Sorry mom, I got bored and began touching your stuff on the table." His voice was riddled with guilt.

I sighed as I wrapped his injury with a bandage and pulled him to sit on the chair. “It’s okay sweetheart, you are going to be fine. I shouldn't have let you stay here without supervision and you should have listened to mummy and stayed put.” I paused and looked at my table, some of the samples were a bit out of place and I could see some blood stains on the table.

I got up and went to look at it up close, then I took a tissue and began cleaning it. Following the trace of blood I noticed that there was fresh blood stain directly on one of the samples, I guess Arne had opened it out of curiosity and his blood fell on it. I wanted to just pick up the sample and trash it but something told me to examine it under the microscope.

I didn't have a reason why, I just felt like doing it.

I brought it under the lens and looked through it and what I saw shocked me to the bones.

I couldn't believe my eyes, but this wasn't possible, it made no sense...

I wiped my eyes with the back of my hand and looked at it again. I wasn't dreaming neither was I seeing things…

The sample contained the blood of the plague virus infected pack member, we had collected plenty of those to run experiment and tests on it, I even had some lying on my desk.

The virus was quite strange and resistant, nothing we did was working. It was like the virus had no nemesis. We had eventually found antibiotics to slow down it's processes but it was not a long-term option, it was something to us either way

But this, this was a game changer.

Somehow, Arne's blood had killed every hint of the virus, it was like they had met their archnemesis and evaporated into thin air.

I glanced at Arne sitting quietly and back at the sample, the loudest question at the back of my mind was why Arne?

What was the connection between Arne and this virus?

No, no, I must take more test and find out what was going on.

I contemplated on calling Ferdinand and the others to inform them of the strange breakthrough but I decided against it. This was a matter concerning my son, if people find out his blood could cure the virus, there would be pandemonium and his life could be in danger.

My son was my first and only priority, I will protect him with my life.

First thing I did was to lock the door to prevent anybody from barging in. Then I picked up a syringe to draw some more blood for more tests.

“Don’t worry sweetie, it will only hurt a little. I just need it to run some tests” I assured Arne as I knelt before him.

Arne only nodded and stretched his hand out obediently. There was no hesitation in his eyes and movements, he trusted me, his mother to not hurt him unnecessarily. I felt moved by his boldness, I could tell he was going to be a fearless man… just like his father.

I cleanly and swiftly took small pints of blood, placing a kiss his forehead for being such a strong boy, I proceeded to running more tests. Only the noise of my movement could be heard in the room, probably because of the drug I gave him, Arne fell asleep after a few minutes.

I did not pause to take a break, I felt like my head was going to explode from such new discover. I tested the blood with two more samples and watched as the blood devoured the virus before my eyes, it was so fast I could barely keep track.

What sorcery was this?

As a doctor, I had my son's medical file stored in my phone at all time. I brought it out and went through it repeatedly, trying to find any unique information that I didn't see before. But everything looked normal, everything was as it should be so how was this possible?

My mind went back to the day Arne had fallen sick after we arrived at the pack. I was worried that he may have caught the virus due to the similar symptoms he had and ran some tests, but I was relieved that it wasn't it and when I gave him drugs he had responded to treatment very quickly. I was so happy and didn't bother to run deeper tests and now I realized that that case wasn't as simply as I thought it was.

By my guess, he must have caught the virus then but as soon as it entered his blood stream, his immune system fought against it viciously and was able to overcome it.

But how strong could his immune system be to fight against such stubborn virus?

I glanced at my sleeping son's peaceful face and a wild thought ran past my mind that had me shaking my head in refusal.

What if he was the cure as the heir of the pack? Was this the moon goddess cruel way of revealing his true identity to the pack?

This was more than just science… it was supernatural.
