Aurora
“There you go, we're all done here.” I said to Hadria as I placed a cotton wool on the area on her arm that I had just injected.
She replaced my hold on the wool with her hand and smiled widely at me, “Thank you Aurora, thank you for saving the pack.”
I smiled back at her. Hadria has always been a sweet girl. “You’re welcome, sweetheart.”
She came down from the ward bed and walked out of the room. I sighed and looked at Ethan who was watching us from the corner of the room.
“You are so amazing, you know that right?” he said with his face gleaming with pride, he began walking towards me, the way his eyes stared at me made my knees feel jelly.
“Of course, I know.” I responded with a glowing face to the compliment. By now he had gotten within an inch of me, I unconsciously gulped because I knew what he had in mind.
“My amazing Aurora,” he said in almost a whisper as his hands caressed my cheeks softly.
As much as I liked what we were doing, I knew this wasn't the right time for it so I reluctantly stepped back to giving us some space. “There are still some patients outside waiting for this treatment, let's focus on that or else they will get more impatient.” Ethan threw his head back and groaned, feigning anger, “And a funkiller. Amazing and a funkiller.” He immediately took my face in his hands and kissed me lightly on the lips before I could react to his words, my eyes widened in amusement at his childish behavior.
“Go and organize the patients please, Ethan,” I instructed, trying to keep a straight face despite the blush on my cheeks.
Ethan chuckled, “You look so cute when you blush.” he complimented.
I rolled my eyes and ignored the increased redness on my cheeks as I walked to the door while Ethan followed behind me.
As soon as we stepped out we were welcomed with patients and their relatives close to them, some were lying bedridden while some walked around with drip stands. There were a lot but I believe with joint effort we will be able to attend to everyone.
It has been some minutes since we left the house to the hospital and the news of the cure had traveled like wildfire. I had first attended to Sam's mate and Hadria so now I was ready to attend to the rest of the affected members of the pack.
“Okay, I'll organize the crowd with Sam and the other men while you are the doctors and nurses distributing the cure.” Ethan said in a low voice that only I could hear.
I nodded, “Got it. And have fun,” I added with a chuckle.
And so we went to work full swing, the division of labor reduced the work load significantly. My heart swelled with joy hearing the patients thanked me for letting them have more chances at living when I treated them. That was why I joined the medical profession; to save lives and it looked like my purpose was being fulfilled so I was glad.
In over five hours, we were diligently tending to patients. We had successfully distributed the cure among everybody and now severe cases were being monitored to see if the dosage was enough. It was a busy day like I anticipated but with Ethan and the others, it was easier.
“Hey, you must be hungry, I brought you a drink,” Ethan suddenly appeared as I was busy checking the heartbeat of a patient.
I turned and smiled in appreciation, “Thank you, you can drop it on the table over there.” I said.
“No, it would lose its coldness. You should have it now, you have been working hard for the past few hours it's time to get some rest.”
“I… but… ” I wanted to protest but I was surprisingly cut off by the patient I was currently attending to.
“The alpha is right, dear. You should have some rest, you have done enough. I'll be fine so don't worry, I haven't felt this good in a while and this is all thanks to you.” The elderly woman said with an assuring smile.
I smiled and nodded, “Okay,” then I turned to Ethan who had an I told you so face.
I grabbed my drink and we both walked to my office.
“Oh my goddess, this is so refreshing.” I commented when I took gulps of the iced Americano, the coldness of the drink seeped into my aching bones and relaxed them.
“Right? You are welcome.” Ethan grinned with pride.
“Yeah, and thank you for taking time to help out as well,” I replied, genuinely appreciative.
Ethan drew closer to me on the couch, took one of my hands in his and said, “Hey, I should be the one thanking you. It was all you. I brought you here in the worst possible way and yet you still dedicated your time to helping my pack. Our pack.”
My heart fluttered at his words , I know I have heard countless thank yous but this one hit the most.
I stared into his eyes, letting my eyes do the talking. We just stayed there looking into each other's eyes and enjoying the moment. Ethan squeezed my hand lightly and began leaning in for a kiss and I didn't object. Just as our lips were about to touch, I heard a rapid knock on the door and we quickly detached from each other like there burning hot lava between us.
“Who is it?” Ethan found his voice and asked, a little irritation could be heard underneath. I guess he didn't like that we were being interrupted, I didn't either.
There was no answer, instead the person knocked again and tried to turn the door knob. Ethan and I exchanged a frown and then he walked to the door to see who it was while I stretched curiously as well to see who it was.
On opening the door, we were both surprised to see it was Tiffany and she didn't look happy at all.
