ZACK’S POV
“Coach, I have to leave for now" I told David in a hurry and took off to meet Mike and Zoe.
I had to get to know the whole story of them if I had to get back my lost peace. Why didn’t they tell me anything?? Why on earth had Caroline kept such a big secret from me?? I couldn’t believe that she never showed me any kind of trust that she couldn’t share it with me. I had always given her the space and comfort in our relationship and she never even thought it to be necessary to tell me the big fact that she was once an athlete too?? Why??
Both were in their classes so I had to do a small act to get them out. Luckily, it was their arts period so both were in same classes.
“Mr. Brown, I need to take Zoe and Mike, it's an emergency" I stormed into their class and gave an excuse to their teacher, who let them come with me. Whew, that was fast.
“We need to talk" in a very furious tone I told them and took them to the cafeteria for it.
Both were utterly dumbfounded to see my vigorous behavior and had no idea what was going on.
“In the trophy room I just got to find out some things that has taken shit out of me. Would anyone be kind enough to explain?” I was extremely raged as a kind of betrayed feeling erupted in me.
“We can explain" Zoe took the initiate while Mike was hell bound to stop her.
“No need Zoe. It doesn’t have to be this way" Mike had taken him brother mode and I waited for them to sort it out and tell me the full thing.
“Mike, I have to. He has the whole right to" Zoe shut up Mike, who gave up easily when she told that and I sat down as she told me to.
“I always knew today or tomorrow you would get to know the truth. But I didn’t knew that it would be this fast" Zoe was hesitant in the beginning but then took a deep breath to say the rest.
“Is the Caroline Sarah talked about in our visit to the lighthouse my ex?” in a regretful tone I asked her and both of them nodded to it in a sink. Fantastic!!
“I, I still can’t believe that you didn’t knew from where your girlfriend was" Mike asked me contemptuously and I didn’t like it.
“As if she didn’t lie about being from the city" I told him what she had told me and yes, she had told me the truth but not the whole of it!!
“Mike don’t start it again. He doesn’t know" while Mike was going on questioning me, Zoe kept on siding me and the conversation between us were not at all going in the right way.
“Mike, first of all let me clear my part. I had met Caroline 2 years ago when she had transferred to my high school. We met at a friend's party and yes, it's true that I fell for her innocent smile. For 2 years we were in a relation and I believed her blindly as she was that good” I opened up about my relationship with Caroline and they didn’t at all seemed surprised. Wait, was the table going to turn to me??
“Hah, how would they know. By the way, did you guys really break up?” Mike was again getting on nerves but there was something in him that kept me in control. Let's get to the main point guys!!
“Yes, we did. Who knew the innocent face had a status conscious one behind it" I accepted my mistake and Zoe held my hands. Hum, that got awkward pretty fast!!!
“We know" they, for the first time supported me in that and came the moment of revelations.
“Me, Mike, Caroline and Jake were once the popular gang of Beverly hills known mainly for our team and sportsman spirit” Zoe put start to it and a strange delight was visible in her face when she narrated it.
“But before you hear our story, you need to hear Jake’s “Mike told me and I was eager for it. I wanted to know everything now!!
“We were in our junior year while Jake was in his senior year when we first met him. He was actually the star athlete of Beverly hills and was all set to win the GYT. I was under coach David for training and then one day he just made me train under Jake” a dull smile bloomed on her face.
“From that day onwards, Jake became an inseparable person of my life. His passion, he dedication, everything just kept her motivated to reach the heights he was at. He was an orphan hence all his focus was just on athletics and nothing else" Mike told me when Zoe stopped to prepare to relive the past.
“Caroline was my best friend from childhood and we were always together in everything except athletics. She was a cute little beauty conscious girl but she never used to leave any opportunity to support me and from childhood itself, Jake was her biggest crush" the dull smile had already vanished into air when they stepped onto the real story and I was shook. This is not so good!!
“As I was always with Jake at that time and Caroline wad with me, we 3 got into good company and afterwards Mike also joined us. I let Caroline enjoy her sugar crushing on a promise that she would never hinder Jake’s training ever and from there on thing went awesome for us until" the past entered into a very bad pace of climax and I was regretting myself for falling for Caroline already.
“Caroline also wanted to enter into athletics to spend more time with Jake as her crush had already turned to hardcore love. At first, I didn’t want her to take such a decision because she was a girl who gave up things easily though she takes up decisions in the heat of time" Zoe was constantly facing the table than my eyes and so was Mike. We were not yet able to face each other’s eyes!!
“And then it happened. Jake supported her and with that support of his, she was able to be qualified for the nationals. Then coach David enrolled us for the nationals and as we three were already selected, Jake persuaded Mike also to qualify for the nationals so that we 4 could together participate in the mixed relay" she paused and took a second before continuing and I was already guessing what Caroline could have done.
“I accepted it for Zoe’s sake and we were able to qualify and from that moment onwards, our main focus was on winning the nationals for the scholarship that we could get if we had won. Once we began to get more and more indulged in our training, I realized that me and Caroline were in the team only for their sake and not for our any personal interest so I told Zoe about it and she told it to Jake. Jake was so pure hearted that he decided to train himself and Zoe harder than me and Caroline so that we still had chances to win” the more Mike narrated, the more he felt guilty and I grew wondering what did happened that the team broke in a nasty way??
“That decision of ours were the beginning of our destruction. I never knew that Caroline could grow so possessive of Jake that she began to cook up unnecessary things that made our bond shatter without any more trust and she had blindly believed the fact that Jake and I were in live even after I knew how much she loved him" Zoe broke the truth and I wide opened my eyes in aghast. How the hell could she do that???
“What the heck?? What the hell is wrong with her??” I burst into a volcano of anger and stood up from my chair crazily scratching my head in fury thinking on what kind of a girl I had trusted blindly. To be honest, I only hated one and only attitude in humans and its was nothing other than egoism and what did I do?? Ended up falling for a girl who was a topper in that?? Really??
“I, buddy, calm down. There’s more to it" Mike consoled me for more spoilers and I was spellbound to even think there’s more to it. What is the real face of this girl??
“There grew a lot of misunderstandings and troubles before the nationals and somehow, Jake got to know Caroline’s love for him but he didn’t believe it to be love but took it as a mere possessiveness. He had his reasons and Caroline couldn’t digest the fact and she decided to believe what she already believed" Zoe continued and it was something I had already guessed. What else could have ignited the brewing ego in someone more than knowing such truths??
I thought that it was the end of the past but I was wrong. The real part yet to be revealed and it was the starting of troubles in my life……
