ZACK’S POV
My decision to join coach David in training the kids led to the growth of my existing popularity in the high school to a whole new level. however, this relationship of mine with Coach had also started creating troubles for me because of some burning souls. Noah and his boys were consumed by their jealousy over me and that fired up his frustrations more. No one could blame his as how could he digest the way a newcomer had started taking away what he had in the high school??? Above all, the whole school considered me the new champion over him only because of my past records!!!!
How could they handle such a thing so easily??? My experience and also me, being the son of the ex-champion of Beverly hills had fired up the grill even more. Coach David had started taking my opinions in most matters which were previously done by Noah. Moreover, in Noah’s eyes, I was becoming a threat to him in his chances of winning the GYT.
Due to the constant worry of losing his dreams, Noah, with the help of Sam and Felix collected all the information they could about my history. It wasn’t a herculean task as my previous high school had its website in which my whole history was there. From there, they found out about my achievements and talents and made Noah’s fears grow stronger. I knew that he thought that, if I returned back to tracks because of Coach David’s support, then I could be his biggest competition. And that’s the last thing he wanted!!!!
“I can’t believe that you have got such an excellent job, Zack” Caroline squeaked in thrill.
“Hmm. At least now you are happy right?” I sighed and asked her. Thankfully, till now she had no idea about how I had worked in the grocery store before I was kicked out because of Noah and his minions.
“Of course, why would I be. You know what, every juniors whom I meet in the corridor now comes to me to know about you. They ask me about your stories and all and it’s really an awesome feeling to be telling them about all that” she started narrating her daily activities and I simply nodded to it.
“And yeah, one more thing, I really think Noah is scheming something against you” suddenly, she blurted it out. That statement gave me a mini heart attack!!!!
“What did you say?? What is he scheming?” I asked her in shock.
“Don’t know about that but I heard Sarah gossiping about it. Something about sports and all” she casually told it to as she gulped down her snacks.
I was wondered thinking what would have been his new plans because, whatever it was, I had no faith in him. He was a person who could go to any extend to get me out of his way even when I wasn’t. It was something he was obsessed with and that was his biggest misunderstanding about me.
I wanted to talk about this matter with Mike and Zoe but looking back at my present time, I couldn’t as due to Caroline. And so, to escape her for a moment, I lied to her about going to washroom and on the way, I met Mike.
“Dude, Caroline told me that....” I hastily began to tell him but he stopped me.
“Before you say, the Dean has called for you and Noah’s involved in this case” he threw the bomb and left me aghast.
“What??? I mean, why??” I was stupefied when he stole my words and informed me about the situation.
“It’s related to your appointment as a trainer in our gym. To know more about it, we have to meet dean” he told me what to do and without wasting time, we went to meet the dean.
Inside dean’s cabin, there was Noah and his whole gang with their eyes staring at me when I arrived. They all had a similar kind of snarling look at me as if they were ready to tear me down. Dean let me in and out of nowhere, Noah lashed out.
“If he is not going to participate in any tournaments then why is he seated in the sports quota?? What is his eligibility to enter the gym as a student trainer??? It’s a total injustice to the other deserving candidates, right???” he questioned the dean.
I stood there with my eyes narrowed at him for this bizarre accusation he had on my eligibility and qualifications. This silly act of his was all it took for him to lose the remaining respect he had in my mind. How was he not aware about the requirements of a student joining in sports quoat was my biggest doubt!!!
“Let me educate you on this matter Noah. For a student to join a school or university in sports quota, only the student’s past records in sports matter. They are not obliged to participate in the sports of the school or the university” I told him in a contemplating tone and dean gave him the same look.
We all were stunned to see Dean’s expression which somewhat told us that he had smelled a kind of jealousy brewing up in Noah’s heart. After me, he answered the second question, making all of us aware that the high school had the authority to appoint eligible trainers for the athletes and that coach David was the one to assign me, thus I was totally eligible for the seat. Noah cringed from deep in his heart when his idea had failed miserably. He was on peak of frustration yet he didn’t lose hope.
He gritted his teeth at me viciously and stormed out of the cabin. Dean looked at me with assurance but my heart was sure that Noah would be back soon and that he would wait for another chance!!!!!
“I still don’t understand why he keeps embarrassing himself in front of you like this” Mike commented on Noah and I scoffed.
“Who cares until he doesn’t cross his lines?” I slid my hands into the pocket of my jacket and sighed.
“Let’s go meet coach to tell him this. He'll surely know how to handle Noah” Mike suggested a way and it was good for me.
“Yep, he surely knows how to handle nut heads” I looked at Mike with a smirk and he contemplated my poor tease at him. I cracked out in laughter and we went straight to coach.
“When will that kid grow up?” Coach too contemplated Noah’s tactics.
“I just worry about him taking things too damn seriously and create more trouble for me. You know that I'm already fucked up and can’t take anymore of shits like him” I told him my situation and he nodded.
“I’m take care of him Zack. You concentrate on your work” he assured me like dean and it made me relived. But this relief only lasted for seconds!!!!!
“Zack......what are you doing here when you told me that you were going to the washroom. Did you lie to me??” Caroline popped up in the gym.
Mike bit his lips not wanting to burst out in laughter seeing her act so childish and for the first time in my life, I felt embarrassed of her acting like this!!!
“Work came up on the way and I had to deal with it. You're okay right. Why don’t you go to classes and I'll meet you after school” I calmly told her and she puffed her face in anger.
“Am I making you feel embarrassed Zack?? Don't you want me to hang around with you anymore?” suddenly, she turned into an emotional girl who was ready to cry.
“I didn’t say anything like that Caroline. I not only have you as my responsibility but also other things. Do you want me to only focus on you?” I ended up using hard words at her for behaving like this.
“Why are you shouting at me?? I'm sorry to be behaving this way. I’m sorry that I always fail to control my mood swings” she curled back into her circle and weighed her head down making me feel guilty.
“Caroline” my heart melted seeing her like that and I went to give her a warm hug to calm her down.
“I love you Zack” she whispered to me.
“I know” as usual, those 3 words didn’t come out from me for her and she gave me that terrified look.
“Go to class and take rest. Call me if you feel anything okay” I consoled her and let her go.
She went back to her classes and I relaxed as Mike handed over to me a bottle of water. I gulped it all down at once and looked at Mike.
“I did feel bad for her being in this state. Having the baby but not having your old love, that’s just so messed up for her” surprisingly, Mike held dome sympathy for her.
“I’ll have to take care of her more because her health is not so good these days” I sighed thinking of the growing responsibilities.
Seeing me stressed, Mike hung his hands over my shoulders and patted me to relax. His support boosted my confidence and with him near me, Zoe’s thoughts popped up in my head and kept on lingering over my head until I went back to Zoe. Both the girls had this weird control over me which I always failed to understand!!!! But whatever it was, I really loved and respected how Zoe used to affect me both mentally and emotionally!!!
{On the other hand}
After Noah had left dean’s cabin, he had come to the gym locker room to take out the anguish he had on me. Neither me, nor Mike and coach knew he was there.
His minions were terrified to see their boss go so mad crazy which led him to smash his hands on the walls. He took it all out by throwing tantrums like an angry beast in the locker room and was able to calm down only when the boys were distracted with Caroline’s entry.
“What the fuck is she doing here?” Felix saw her from the windows and informed Noah.
“Who?” Noah shouted in rage.
“That loser’s baby mommy. Geesh, she’s so damn cool at having him chained to her” Sam answered.
“Caroline.... wait a second. How could we ever forget this??? Oh my god, I'm such an idiot” the moment he heard her name, his tone changed into a complete evil one leaving the boys confused as hell!!!
“Huh?” they asked for clarity.
“You fucking idiots, how can we ever forget the fact that Zack is trapped between the girls who are worst enemies of each other?” Noah began to squeak in evilness yet his minions had no idea what he was talking about!!!
“Noah, what does the girls have to do with this?” Sam questioned him.
“Just wait and watch boys. This time, I have got the perfect mind-blowing plan that going to fuck that shit to hell. I swear this time, he’ll dig his own grave and I'll make sure of that!!!” Noah smirked like a devil and stared at me scornfully....
