Three minutes into Evangeline’s little speech and Rita felt like throwing a chair at her or better yet marching up to that self praising face of hers, taking the microphone and pounding it into her self absorbed face. God she was annoying, no wonder there were so many bitch looks thrown her way.
Everyone was either annoyed or bored, even her fiancé seemed to be losing grip on his façade while she had lost hers a long time ago, a full minute into Evangeline’s self praising.
Somehow in the midst of it all Theo had disappeared from his seat and was nowhere to be found in her field of view, she thought to look for him but then thought better of it, going around looking for a Vampire in the midst of other vampires and insanely rich over horny bastards in a near dark environment did not seem like the best of ideas, so she stayed put.
A couple came to sit beside her, the lady, a brunette, in a revealing outfit, the revealing aspect a six point something on a one to ten scale, that emphasized everything from the fake curves to no underwear sat in Theo’s seat or former seat, while the gentleman sat in the other facing her. Leaving Rita on the right, the near naked brunette in the middle and her partner on the left.
Between their ordering drinks and dirty talking Rita could not tell which the man stuck to, undressing his scantily clad partner or eye raping her and making her feel more uncomfortable.
She was already uncomfortable with the overall situation she was in, the material Theo was holding, being her, being hungry, it was like the self absorbed bitch of a leech told all the waiters not to serve food until she was done with her self praise and monologue, Theo pulling a hudini and now this bastard.
The stupid monologue that was going on on stage had gotten her mad, mad enough to hit someone and leave a bruise, human or Vampire. You know what, she was leaving, she would rather talk to police and have one thing on her permanent record than stay here one more nano second, besides there were better things on the outside like fresh air, her car, a resturant somewhere with much greatly craved food and no sick perverted bastard called Theo and definitely no diamond, Channel decked monologuing bitches.
The last two were a little bit more on the ish side but still good enough reason to leave.
She picked up her Purse and made for the door, not giving a flying mongoose what anyone thought, she was done with this place.
She was nearly there when something, a hand, grabbed her wrist and pulled her into the dark of the hallway fast enough to make her feel terribly dizzy. She dropped her purse, its fall dulled by the carpet.
Even though her head was spinning faster than a merry go round on max she still recognized that cologne. Her head cleared, not entirely but still enough for the urge to throw up to greatly subside. Theo.
His features were hard to make out in the dark, it was hard to make out anything but his voice and the cologne were a dead giveaway.
“Leaving so soon?” He asked, his voice so soft, calm and coming from beside her ear, cold breath giving her goosebumps, with the air conditioner she had already started to feel cold. “You want me to have the material then? Just so you remember, I can share it to whoever I want, whenever, wherever.”
Rita at the moment was more mad than scared. She hated when people pulled disappearing acts on her, no matter who it was or when. She tried to release her wrist from his hold while giving him a seething reply.
“You can’t expect me to keep waiting for Hudini to reappear.” No use the hand would not budge.
“I was only gone for two and half minutes. You’re usually patient.”
“Well three minutes of that” cocking her head towards where the stage should be and his sister audibly from there thanks to the microphone, still going on and on. “Is enough to change a person.”
If he made any expression she did not see, if he made any expression at all that was. His voice slightly hassled did not come from beside her ear anymore, it came from right infront of her. “Remember that you want something and I want something, we have a deal to make.”
She glared in what she hoped was his direction. “Then give me what I came for or I’m leaving.”
“First, your silence, then I’ll let you have what you want.” He said through gritted teeth.
“How do I know those are all you have and it’s not in a flashdrive somewhere?” She argued.
She could feel the smirk growing on his face and oh how she wanted to wipe it off. “You’re going to have to trust me then.’
Trusting the prick was not the wisest thing to do but she was backed into a corner.
“Let me see it first.” She said, still not wanting to trust him until she saw proof, not that she could see anything right now.
He dragged her deeper into the hallway towards a light source and away from the main room.
He let go of her wrist once they were there, dipping his hand into his trouser pocket and the other he had held her with into his shirt pocket. She had not known the shirt had a pocket, in the light she could see his hair was ruffled and there was just one more button left undone than there was two and a half minutes ago.
He brought out his phone, unlocked it and gave it to her. “Here, delete what you want.” Rita’s hand gripped it tightly, he had already opened the gallery and the file, the pictures and videos still made her freeze for a second or two before she kicked into gear and started marking all of them for deletion.
Few seconds later she had marked thirty nine items destined for the trash bin and there were still more to go. Just how many did he have in here?! Fuck it, she pressed select all and trashed everything. She went to trash and deleted everything in there permanently.
He must have been watching what she was doing because immediately she was done, the phone disappeared from her hand. She looked up at him, his phone in his right hand, a flashdrive in the other.
She reached for it but he pulled it right out of her reach, using speed and height to his advantage. “Give it to me.” She demanded, not interested in playing games.
“First, your silence.”
She replied in a hushed whisper, her tone seething. “Fine! I won’t say anything! Now give it to me!”
He threw it to her and she caught it. The cool black device rested in her palm, finally the bastard did not have anything to blackmail her with. She looked at him to find him already looking at her, more accurately, staring.
She turned looking for her purse on the ground, she could not find it. It was probably on the floor in the darker part of the hallway. Where had she dropped it again? Yes, when he grabbed her the first time, meaning it was at the start of the hallway.
She had not taken more than three steps away from him when her stomach fell, dropped by his next words.
“That’s not all of it.”
She stilled in her tracks and turned to him with enough force to have her neck hurting for a few weeks. Her voice barely a whisper. “What?”
His voice calm out as normal and calm as if he were talking about colours on the colour wheel. “You heard me that’s not all of it. I have another flashdrive in my apartment, two more to be precise and the content already in my laptop.”
If she was cold before, she was numb now.
“And I may have already shared two pictures with a friend.”
Her voice choked as the words came out.”How could you?” First with disbelief and then with anger. She backtracked the steps she had taken, finishing them in two instead of four. She screamed not bothering to keep her voice down anymore. “You perverted bastard! How dare you?!”
She swung at him going for his face and this time not for just a slap, she was going to claw him open.
He caught her hand, seizing it in his own. She raised the other and he seized it too.
She gasped he was going to take the flashdrive and then she would have nothing at all.
“You’re the one that trusted me.” He smiled coyly.
