Resisting Him, Chasing Her Chapter 46

“I'll be taking on the responsibility of Deleze Inc again. Next week Wednesday.” Samuel replied, trying his very best not to stare at her. He failed miserably. To top it off he could sense she was uncomfortable with his outright gawking. He was not even sure why he brought her to this particular restaurant. He had just wanted to treat her out. This was stupid. He was stupid.

“But Sir, where does that leave me?” Rita asked, confusion in her tone and surprise on her face. She looked so beautiful today. A little bit worn-out but still beautiful. Maybe he would give her the rest of the day off. He would prefer she did it with him. He did not care what they were doing as long as she was in his arms. His face buried in her neck, breathing in her scent. Leaving small kisses here and there along the column of her neck, breathy moans slipping from her mouth. Great, he had worked himself up. And this time, he could not tell if it was just him or the coming full moon doing it.

“What do you mean?” She asked. The question brought him back to reality and out of his fantasy. He blinked rapidly. “Did you hear me?” He had not. What had she said? Was it important?

“I'm sorry I didn't. Would you mind repeating what you said?” Wait, did that made him sound like a snobby asshole? She was going to take it the wrong way. Maybe he could fix this. Her eyes slightly narrowed. Oh no! She already did take it the wrong way. Hold on, why did he even care? “I said Sir, that my contract is with Nexion. And both you and the contract made it very clear what the consequences are if I leave.” Samuel had not taken that detail into consideration. She must be thinking the worst. “So are you–”

“Oh, that won't be a problem.” Samuel blurted. He did not want her to finish her sentence. She had already gotten the wrong idea and he had also done a great job of looking like an ass. Where was their food anyway? This place was supposed to have great service.

Her eyes released him from their narrowed stare. “I don't understand.”

“You will continue to be my personal assistant. I still own Nexion and I am still its CEO, I will just be managing all its activities elsewhere. In this case, Deleze Inc.”

She blew out a breath. She seemed really relieved. The fist she had been clenching under the table since they got here relaxed. “I see.”

A waitress came to their table. The same one that lead them here and annoyed him because she was trying her best to get Rita's attention. She had flicked her auburn hair, started up a conversation that managed to completely sideline him and at least one more button was undone on her shirt. “I'm sorry, your meals will be another ten minutes. Could I interest you in some wine while you wait?”

Another ten minutes? They had been in this restaurant for forty. With awkward silence for company till the four minutes ago. Rita must be really hungry. “Would you like some Rita?” Samuel asked.

“Yes, I'd like some.”

“Wonderful. What would you like white or red?” The auburn haired annoyance of a waitress asked. Smiling like she was some kind of angel. A woman stealing harpy of an angel. “White please. Non-alcoholic.”

“I'll have mine red. Well aged.”

The waitress scribbled down their orders. “Ok, I'll be back with your drinks.” she said and went in the direction of the bar. Samuel glared after her.

“Sir,” Samuel stopped glaring and focused his attention back to Rita. He just wanted to hold her and bury his face in her neck just for the heck of it and so that everyone could watch. Especially that waitress.

Samuel hastily answered. Not wanting to be in the earlier position. “Yes.”

“If you don't mind me asking, what prompted the sudden change.” She asked. She practically stank of suspicion. A less formal show of emotion.

“It is more of a personal issue, Rita. Both companies will be merging soon anyway and I prefer Deleze Inc headquarters as my base of operations.” The familiar click of heels signaled the harpy was headed back their way.

Rita looked like she still had questions but her reply was “Ok, I understand.”

“I'm back with the drinks.” The bitch sang. Whoopy. “Here's yours aannnd yours.” she said, placing a glass of Infront of Rita and then him. “Thank you for your Patience, your meal will be ready soon.” It better be.

He gave Rita the rest of the day off after lunch. The satisfaction on her face after eating was quite charming. It made him happy. Happy enough to forget about the service and how badly the plan had started. Partly. It was clear the only feelings she had for him were hatred and formal gratitude, so what could he do to change that? He would even accept her just liking him or seeing him as a friend. Samuel mauled over that for a moment and decided he would rather she not. He wanted her to return his feelings. But first she had to forgive him? So what could he do?

Why was this so hard?! He had won over a lot of women before, sometimes he did not have to do anything. So why? The only difference in the situation was that he actually wanted Rita to like him and not just get into her pants. To be frank, he would like both. Very much. But he could not rush things, else she would put up even more barriers and hightail it. He was sure the contract would do little to keep her by his side. And he did not want her to feel trapped anymore than she already was. Still, he could not stop his mind from wondering to her from time to time. Her scent, her touch, the fullness of her lips just begging to be sampled. Her curves begging to be taken in his hands and worshipped.

Anyone he told at this point would have a field day at his expense if he tried asking for help. And one way or another it would get out. And right now that was the last thing he wanted. He would have to figure this out himself. Somehow.

Samuel stopped his car and got out. He made his way into the abandoned warehouse but not before taking off his jacket and leaving it in the backseat. The place was random, public even. The perfect place. He walked up to a seemingly rusted door and pressed his hand on it. The door opened as smoothly as a brand new one. He went in and the door closed behind him. If anyone followed him, they would be left hanging. The door would not open if the scanner on its surface did not confirm the person's identity.

Samuel walked down three flights of stairs before he stopped infront of an elevator. The elevator doors slid open and Samuel entered the elevator before it closed. There was no need for buttons aside from the emergency ones. The elevator went straight down and nowhere else. When the ride was over, the doors slid open again and he walked out. Samuel was greeted by the sound of metal connecting with flesh and round after round of tortured screams.

The wolf howled under his skin and the predator he had kept concealed crawled back up and smile through his mouth. Anticipating its freedom even if for a few minutes alone. He felt his fangs lengthen and his claws extend. It was tedious work having to remain refined and restrained all the time especially around human assholes. Even more with the human laws in place.

The smell of blood and flesh excited him. It was the only thing that made him feel alive aside from having a run. And he needed to take his frustration out on something. Since he could not drown himself in booze every other day or fuck a certain someone or run her out of his system, and Nexion was under inquisition, where better than purgatory to de-stress.
