Resisting Him, Chasing Her Chapter 9

Samuel could not believe how many faults his great uncle turned a blind eye to. As soon as he looked through the files on his laptop back at the hotel he knew something had to be done.

His tour of the company had been put on hold so he could get down to uprooting the unwanted plants and weeds within the company.

Today, his things would be moved to a penthouse suite in a more suitable building. He would be able to contact Xavier then.

The company was still on high alert as they should be, he was not done removing the filth that harbored within its walls.

He initially planned on staying in Alvas for no more than three weeks at most but seeing the scale of things, he would stay a good month and probably a few weeks.

He was currently in his new office, the old décor had been removed a week to his taking the position and now the once light lavender walls were replaced with a darker shade of cream.

The walls on his right were outfitted with ten inch flat screens, a gift from the company’s technology development department. The screens served as a means of engaging with staff and investors.

It also connected him to the security footage of his office and his secretary. He had had his people connect him to a private server that linked him to the security footage of the company.

Many would call that spying and invasion of privacy but he was the boss, he was well within his legal right to watch his employees even though he was not part of the day to day staff activities.

The window screens had been modified to let in enough light but nothing that took the beauty of the office away.

There was a cupboard with decanters containing fine wine and best brands of alcohol. The desk was a fine mahogany, polished to a shine with drawers that had fingerprint recognition. The chairs were the usual black, same as the sofa set that sat infront of the television set facing the door.

The shelves behind the desk were a nice touch too, brilliantly hid the safe behind it. The interior designer did a good job, unfortunately Samuel was not interested in the details. As long as it was not pink, flowery, kiddish or jolly and served him a purpose he was fine.

He was checking through some very interesting financial transactions. Very substantial transactions that his great uncle must not have known about entirely or the lot of them would be rotting in prison by now.

Did they really think he would not find out? Nevermind he would rectify this mistake.

The pressed the intercom for his secretary. The gangly black haired human male appeared in the next few seconds. Fear radiating off of him. It was gratifying but annoying.

“Yes, Sir” The pathetic thing said.

“Call the president and the board members to the conference room. Tell them to be there in the next fifteen minutes.”

“Yes Sir, right away.” Henry said all but scurrying out of the office.

Humans could be so annoying. Then so again could women no matter the species.

He liked his own company except in times when he did not and even then it was not for the woman’s personality.

If he ever thought the unmated female shifters in his pack were bad then he was sorely mistaken and that was the understatement of the century.

Ever since he came out into the public eye, more specifically ever since Forbes had put him at number three on the billionaires list, he became prime target for any woman within the monetary and celebrity range moreso than people that wanted to become partners or investors.

In someways it was better than in his pack, atleast what spurred these women on was money and power not the fact that his mother wanted him to get married.

Whether on their own or with someone pulling the strings behind, he did not care. If he wanted something he would get it, whatever came next as long as it did not do damage to him was none of his damn business.

He took his phone out and dialed a number.

The horrible feeling was still churning in the pit of her stomach. Talking to Lucinda and having that scrumptious cake had helped ease it yesterday but it was back today with a vengeance. Something was going to happen today and that something, she was sure, she would not like.

It was probably the CEO again. He would no doubt be on another firing spree.

Even though she had done nothing wrong she could think of, she just felt like whatever that was going to happen today that would change something and she would at the centre of it.

Giving a reason to the feeling only served to amplify it and this time there was no chocolate cake to help her with it.

She needed to relax and just make it to lunch. Just till lunch. Two more hours. If this kept up she would blowup before the month was over. Until then she should focus on the good things about the situation.

Ever since this week started Talia and her cohorts had left her alone and minded their own buisness. They just ignored her.

Atleast with this tension she did not have to add dealing with them to the mix.

It was safe to say her heart was in her stomach, taking space intended for the cake she planned on stress eating.

Two hours passed and as per usual this week someone or people were sent packing except this time was different. For one the people kicking, screaming and cursing were under arrest.

And second, the people in question were none other than the company President, Steve Parmt, the rest of the board members, the CEO’s own personal assistant, Theo’s head of department and some of his colleagues.

Naturally it became top topic only a few seconds later.

She bought a piece of vanilla strawberry cake, no chocolate was available. Sigh. It would have to do.

She started stuffing her face. She was definitely going on a diet after this.

No one looked twice at her since there were messier stress eaters around.

That was not the main focus anyways. The question on everyone’s mind including hers was: What did they do?

Wait! Did that mean the company currently had no board members?!
