The whole classroom erupted in laughter, and Miss Davenport scolded them. She sent me back to my seat, and now I understand the hate coming from Kyla. This teacher was just too much.
Like, there are lots of lectures, quizzes right away, and assignments. She was so strict and cruel to the students. Like, what the hell? I might develop trauma from her class. The next class would be my favorite subject, and hopefully, I will learn a lot from Mr. Dave. We have an accounting subject, and it's my favorite subject, as I said.
After that, it was time for our 15-minute break. My mind wasn't drained, just a bit sleepy since I'm still adjusting. The vacation was quite long, so I got used to having long sleep. I slung my bag over my shoulder. I was planning to leave the classroom. I was thinking of asking Andrew for help to find their canteen, but I think he's busy with his own circle of friends.
I chose not to disturb him and made my way to the canteen. I asked the people I passed by, and they were all friendly, so it was okay. I saw them at their table. Alice approached me with a concerned look on her face.
"Good thing you're here. We thought you got lost, and we were about to come get you," she said as if a weight had been lifted off her shoulders.
"I'm here," I said to her and then sat at our table.
It's refreshing to see familiar faces. You know, it feels different when you're aware of who you're interacting with. Unlike when I was inside the classroom earlier, I had no idea why it felt so heavy there.
"How was the first day of class?" Kyla asked me while pouring her drink into her own tumbler.
"It was okay. The atmosphere was a bit heavy because all the girls kept looking at me. Maybe it's because I entered the classroom with Andrew, he's my classmate, and it was just a coincidence that we entered together," I told them.
"Oh well, that's how it is. Many girls are lining up for Andrew," Alice said, sounding hopeless.
"I have no intention of lining up. Why should I? It's not my habit to chase after a guy; it should be the other way around," I told them.
"If he's that handsome! Why not, right?" Kyla added.
I smiled and started finishing my food. While we were eating, someone pulled out my uniform. I almost stumbled, but Alice caught me.
"Maribeth! What are you doing to my friend?!" Alice scolded the fair-skinned girl in front of me.
I'm taller than her, and I have a better figure and appearance. So this is Maribeth?
I thought Andrew had high standards. Alice looks even more beautiful than her. And how dare she pull my uniform like that? Who is this trash?
"Don't meddle in this, Alice. Maybe it's because Andrew doesn't even spare you a glance. You're just a fantasy. And your friend here is just like you, a flirt!" she shouted, trying to get attention from everyone here.
So this will be the scene for my first day here? What a warm welcome.
"Excuse me, but can you tone down your voice? I don't know if I'm still talking to an educated person. You're acting like an uneducated shit," I said in an annoying voice. She had some cronies with her, thinking they could intimidate me. Hate to disappoint her to the core. But she didn’t have what it takes.
"What? Uneducated? Who's the flirt here?" she said, fuming with anger.
"No one else but you," I told her.
She almost tried to slap me, but I pushed her away.
"Try to touch me, and you'll regret it," I threatened.
"I'll report you to my mom!" she retorted.
"Like I'm scared enough to pee in my skirt. Tell it to the bird and fly away. Tell your threat to someone who is scared. You know what, it's not my hobby to take pity on hopeless girls like you. Who do you think you are to come at me like this?"
"Weren't you the one who beat me as the queen of the night? Why? Do you want Mr. Logan and Andrew too? Your pride is too high, isn't it?"
I laughed mockingly while taking a step toward her. She seemed intimidated by what I was doing.
"Try to do this again, the one who starts a scene will have consequences next time."
Luckily, she left before warning me to be careful. I just shook my head from the excessive stress. If these are the types of girls who attack me, I hope they fix their makeup or choose their words carefully. What a cheap act!
"Oh, my new comrade is different. Not only is she beautiful like Miss Universe, she's also fierce. We weren't able to back you up immediately because we were speechless! Oh my!" Kyla said, marveling at what I did.
I didn't know where to sit, so I tried sitting beside Andrew, but it seemed like two girls were already sandwiching him, and they were staring at me as if I would commit the greatest sin of my life if I tried to take their throne or seat. I haven't done anything wrong to them, right? Tsk.
I took a seat beside the window. There was a nerdy guy beside me, and he kept stealing glances at me. When I smiled at him, his face turned red like a tomato. Weird. We waited for a few moments before our teacher entered.
"Good morning class, it seems like our class is the same except for our transferee, Ms. Miranda, is she here?" our teacher, Miss Davenport, said. She's the terror teacher that Kyla mentioned last time.
I raised my hand to let her know that I'm already there.
"Oh, dear, come here beside me and introduce yourself," the teacher told me.
I slowly nodded and walked to the front of the class. Students were waiting and eyeing me like prey.
"I am Krystal Krystal Miranda, I am 19 years old, I came from Claybourne, and I'm currently living here for a while. I wish we can all be good friends," I said briefly.
A dark-skinned guy raised his hand. "Single?" he asked with a grin.
I winced at the audacity of his question.
"Yes, but not ready to mingle."
I used to be kind back then. What if that Maribeth met my old self? She would have left in tears. I've fought numerous bitches out there, especially in bars and at school. I had the most girl fights in my last school.
After the short recess, I returned to the classroom and sat in the same spot. From the window, I could see the rice fields outside the school fence. It looked peaceful, especially with the gentle breeze caressing my face.
I was slightly surprised when Andrew approached me. I didn't think about the girls in our class who were staring at us as if I owed them an explanation. They should mind their own damn business.
"Maribeth approached you earlier, right? I should have come with you. That girl is crazy," he said to me.
"It's okay, she's nothing. As if she can handle me. She tried to ruin my moment, so she should have been more careful and not have had an accident," I said.
If I had known that the incident would become an issue, I should have avoided the worst-case scenario like what happened.
"By the way, are Christian and Lance going to eat with you? I'll join you guys," he asked.
"Sure."
He returned to his seat, and just in time, our teacher arrived.
The day ended without any more clashes with other girls. They can hate all they want and stick with their friends, just make sure they can bring me down, or else I will bring hell up here on Earth.
I was about to go home when I realized that there were so many gates leading out of the school. I looked hopeless since I didn't have their cellphone numbers, and I didn't know where Alice was. It was already 5:30 in the afternoon, and I looked lost and pathetic.
Plus, I had this creepy feeling as if there were boys looking in my direction. I didn't want to be judgmental, but their appearances weren't trustworthy. They looked like perverts from ancient times.
Those nasty glares, what the f**k!
I suddenly felt a collision from behind as I was moving backward. I didn't know if it was luck or a series of misfortunes. I think this day wasn't my day.
Evidence?
Logan was right in front of me. He looked like he came straight out of a pocketbook. He looked like a wealthy royal. I could hardly believe that someone so good-looking could be such an idiot.
Did he think I had forgotten about the two incidents at the waterfalls? Even if I develop Alzheimer's in the future, I won't forget any of it.
"Yes?" I said with a snarky tone. I hate everything about his actions. He irritates me, just like that.
He smiled. "I think we have something to discuss," he said, but I couldn't understand.
"I don't remember that we have anything to discuss," I replied firmly.
He looked down. "We do, I want to make up for what happened last time we were at that damn waterfall," he said as if there was something else to discuss.
I narrowed my eyes at him. "Chivalry does not run in your blood, so stop that act," I said.
"That's right, but I do have a conscience."
Does he really?
"Then do me a favor, and don't talk to me again, ever."
