Their passionate encounter had momentarily subsided, leaving them breathless and entangled in the dimly lit room. In the quiet moments that followed their passionate encounter, Reid found himself unable to suppress the questions swirling in his mind. He traced gentle patterns on Bella's back, his voice tender and slightly angry as he sought the answers he longed to understand.
"Bella," he began, "Why didn't you tell me that you were a virgin?"
Bella nestled herself closer to him, her forehead resting on his chest. She let out a deep sigh before answering, "I didn't want it to change anything between us. I didn't want you to treat me differently or think I was inexperienced."
Reid ran his fingers through her hair. "I understand why you kept it to yourself, but I could’ve hurt you in the heat of the moment. Plus, you deserved something better than your first time being in a nightclub on top of a desk." he replied, slightly irritated.
After a few more moments, Reid and Bella gently untangled themselves, but it was like a connection formed between themselves, like a thread that kept them connected.
They began to arrange their dishevelled clothes, their bodies still flushed with the heat of passion.
As Reid moved to dispose of the used condom, Bella watched him with a mixture of curiosity and shyness. She noticed his slight curse and couldn't help but ask, "What happened?"
Reid turned to face her, his expression a combination of annoyance. "Well," he began, "it seems the condom decided to be a bit uncooperative. It burst."
Bella's eyes widened in surprise. "I suppose that's one way to keep life interesting."
Reid smiled without realising in response, the tension that had initially hung between them was now replaced with light-heartedness. He appreciated Bella's ability to handle the unexpected with humour.
“You don’t need to worry about it; I am clean and you can’t get pregnant from me.” Reid replied.
When she asked him why he seemed so relaxed about it, Reid revealed something personal.
With a gentle and reassuring tone, he said, "Bella, I can't have children. So, there's no need to worry about pregnancy or any extra concerns."
She nodded, a small smile forming on her lips as she responded, "Thank you for telling me."
Bella looked at him, a mix of emotions passing through her. She was surprised by his revelation but also touched by his openness and the level of trust he had just shown her. This was a side of Reid she hadn't seen before, and it only made her feel closer to him.
Reid and Bella leave the VIP office, their bodies still feeling the lingering effects of their passionate encounter. They ventured back into the lively atmosphere of the nightclub, searching for Lily and Tony, who had remained on Bella's mind throughout the evening.
As they navigated through the dimly lit club, the music and chatter of the crowd enveloped them. It felt like a completely different world from the intimate moments they had just shared. Bella's thoughts were in a whirlwind, partly consumed by the heady feelings from their encounter, and partly by the uncertainty of how things would unfold from there.
As Bella and Reid left the VIP office, they remained blissfully unaware that their presence had not gone unnoticed. Little did they know that someone had entered the office moments after their departure.
His eyes fell on the dishevelled state of the room, and he quickly put two and two together. The discarded condom from the trash bin was a damning piece of evidence. His face contorted with anger as he realized that Bella had been with Reid Carter.
Alex's clenched fists and gritted teeth revealed the intensity of his anger as he stood in the VIP office, his eyes fixed on the discarded condom. His usually composed and attractive face was distorted into a terrifying mask of violent rage. With a swift and powerful movement, he kicked the garbage bin, sending it crashing to the other side of the room.
The noise reverberated through the room, but it was only a faint echo of the turmoil that was raging within him. His mind whirled with frustration as he realized that Bella had been with Reid Carter. He couldn't believe that he lost his prey for tonight and that she had given herself to Reid. Earlier tonight he noticed her intoxicated state, and he waited a few more minute before approaching her, but when he was about to strike, a loser grabbed her attention.
He followed them when they left the club, and the guy pinned her to the wall, but before having time to react, Reid Carter appeared and ruined his entertainment. Alex wondered where they knew each other, plus he never imagined that Bella would have an intimate relationship with someone like Reid, considering her shyness and clumsiness with the male population; his first intuition about her was that she was a virgin.
His mind raced with thoughts of revenge and a burning desire to reclaim Bella from Reid's grasp. This incident had fuelled his obsession with her even further. He knew he needed to devise a plan to get her. He always had what he wanted, and now his next target was Bella.
With his jaw clenched and his eyes smouldering with determination, Alex left the VIP office, the night was far from over, and the game to get Bella had only just begun.
On the other side of the club, Bella and Reid eventually found Lily and Tony in their VIP section, and when Lily spotted Bella, she hurried over, her expression a mixture of relief and concern.
"Bella! We were looking everywhere for you. Is everything okay?" she asked, her eyes scanning Bella's appearance.
Bella smiled at Lily, touched by her friend's worry. "I'm fine, Lily. I just needed some fresh air, that's all. I believe we should call it a night and head back home." She didn't want to share with Lily yet the details of what had happened in the back alley or how she lost her V card with Reid.
Lily's eyes widened when she saw Reid standing just behind Bella. Her surprise was evident, but she quickly composed herself, offering a polite smile. "Oh, hi. Did you come to wish Bella a happy birthday?"
Reid looked surprised at Bella. "It seems that way."
Tony chimed in, "It's getting late, and this place is losing its charm. Let's head back." He reached out to take Lily's hand.
Bella agreed, wanting to put the unusual turn of events behind them. "Yes, let's go home."
Reid interfered, “I will drive you home, as I was leaving. Anyhow, give me your address.”
With the decision made, they left the VIP section and made their way toward the exit, Reid leading the way. The night had been filled with surprises, and now, with Reid on their ride home, they headed into the unknown, uncertain of what the rest of the night might hold.
The ride back home was quiet, with Bella lost in her thoughts while Reid navigated the city's streets. In just 30 minutes, they found themselves back in front of the familiar building. Lily and Tony thanked Reid as they exited the car, leaving Bella and Reid alone in the vehicle.
Bella turned toward Reid, her thoughts swirling in her mind, unsure of what to say. After a moment of silence, she finally spoke. "Reid, thank you for what you did back at the club. I appreciate it."
Reid's eyes locked onto Bella’s; his expression more serious than she had seen it all night. "Bella, I don't want to see you in a situation like that again. It's not safe, and you deserve better. You deserve better than what happened tonight, than what I can offer you. You deserve a dream life, Bella, but I am not the one able to give it to you."
Reid's words hung heavy in the air as Bella felt her emotions welling up. Tears formed in her eyes, and she couldn't help but ask, "Why, Reid? Why can't it be possible? I love you and I can see that I am affecting you also. Why don’t you even want to try? "
Reid looked away; his jaw clenched as if he was trying to hold back his own emotions. "Bella, you deserve a beautiful life, one that I can't provide. I'm not the right person for you, and I don't want to see you get hurt."
Bella felt her heartache as she tried to make sense of his words. "Reid, I don't understand. What's holding you back? Why can't we be together? Is it because of my father? Or am I that more substandard than your usual type?"
Reid took a deep breath, his eyes returning to meet hers. "There are things in my life, Bella, things that I can't change. I'm not in a position to offer you the kind of relationship you deserve."
Bella's voice trembled as she asked, "Is it because of your career? Your family?"
Reid nodded solemnly but didn't elaborate further. "I can't explain, Bella, but my answer is final."
Bella's heart sank, and her eyes filled with tears. She realised that Reid was keeping something from her, something he couldn't or wouldn't share. "Reid, please, I want to understand. I can make my own choices. Please don't shut me out like that."
Reid's gaze held a mixture of pain and longing. "I'm doing this because I care about you, Bella. It's not easy for me either, but it's the best decision for both of us."
Bella's tears spilled over, and she reached out to touch Reid's hand. "Please, Reid, just talk to me. We can figure this out together."
But Reid remained firm in his decision, the conflict in his eyes evident. "I can't, Bella. It's better this way, trust me."
She looked at him lost; after the thrill of tonight and their connection, it was a painful realization that this might be the end of any potential future they could have had together.
Bella, unable to hold back her emotions, turned back toward Reid, her voice shaking as she spoke softly, "Reid, please... just one last kiss. A farewell or a birthday gift."
Reid hesitated for a moment, his emotions waging an internal battle. He knew it was a bad idea, that it would only make things harder, but he couldn't resist the longing in her eyes. Leaning in, he kissed her gently, a bittersweet expression of all the unspoken words and emotions between them.
The kiss was tender, filled with the regret of unfulfilled desires and the weight of goodbye. It was a bittersweet moment, their lips locking for the last time, and both of them felt the sting of parting as their lips finally parted.
With a last, lingering glance, Bella stepped out of the car, leaving Reid behind. The night was over, but the memories of their passionate encounter, the unspoken words, and the heartache they felt would linger on.
