Silk and Steel: Forbidden Desires Chapter 27

As the days passed, Ella's desperation grew. The relentless secret admirer continued to send her the red roses and those cryptic cards bearing the single word, "Soon." Each time the delivery arrived; it sent shivers down her spine. What was meant to be a gesture of affection had now become a symbol of her unease and growing anxiety.

The roses that once symbolized love and beauty were now a source of dread for her. She began to have troubling dreams where the red roses seemed to multiply, surrounding her and engulfing her in a sea of crimson. These nightmares left her restless, and she often awoke in the middle of the night, drenched in cold sweat.

Desperate and fearing for her safety, Ella decided to report the disturbing situation to the local police. She hoped that they would take her concerns seriously, investigate the matter, and identify her secret admirer. But much to her dismay, they responded much like her mother, downplaying the situation and suggesting that it was just the infatuation of an overeager admirer.

On top of this problem, the passing weeks were unkind to Bella as her health continued to deteriorate. She had lost a significant amount of weight, her once vibrant energy replaced with constant fatigue. She was plagued by dizzy spells that left her disoriented, and her occasional bouts of vomiting only added to her misery. The girl who once exuded vibrancy now appeared pale and gaunt, her bright eyes now dull, and her once-shiny hair lacklustre.

Lily and Tony couldn't stand by and watch their friend's health decline any longer. They had grown increasingly worried about her, the worry etching lines of concern on their faces. Lily, in particular, had become a constant source of encouragement for Bella to see a doctor.

"Bella, you can't keep ignoring this," Lily pleaded one evening after another bout of vomiting. "It's not just stress. You've lost so much weight, and your health is spiralling. This isn't normal, and it's not because of exams or your stoker."

Tony, though less vocal, supported Lily's sentiment. "She's right, Bella. We're here for you, but you need to see a doctor. This could be something serious."

Bella, feeling overwhelmed, couldn't deny their concerns anymore. She agreed to visit a doctor and finally get to the bottom of her declining health. She feared that it might be too late to reverse the damage that had already been done. The mysterious roses that kept arriving hadn't helped her anxiety, but she had to prioritize her health at this point. It was time to face her fears and seek professional help, so the booked herself for an appointment with a practitioner for the coming day.

She needed answers, and she hoped that a visit to the clinic might provide some insight into her mysterious ailment.

The next morning, she arrived at the clinic with a heavy heart but a determined spirit. Lily had insisted on accompanying her, but Bella knew that her friend had a crucial presentation at university, and she couldn't bear the thought of distracting her. She assured Lily that it was just a routine check-up and that everything would be fine.

Once Bella registered at the reception desk, she took a seat in the waiting area. The clinic was bustling with activity, filled with patients who were also seeking medical attention for their various ailments. As she waited, her anxiety grew, and her mind raced towards what might be causing her illness.

After what felt like an eternity, her name was finally called. Bella took a deep breath and made her way to the examination room. The nurse asked her some routine questions about her symptoms and medical history, making notes on her clipboard as Bella answered.

Nurse: "Thank you for providing that information, Bella. The doctor will see you shortly. Just have a seat here, and they'll be with you in a few minutes."

Bella nodded and took a seat on the examination table, trying to calm her racing heart.

Several minutes later, the doctor entered the examination room. He greeted Bella with a warm smile and introduced himself.

Doctor: "Hello, Bella. I'm Dr. Mitchell. It's nice to meet you. How can I help you today?"

Bella returned the greeting, and with a heavy sigh, she began to describe her various symptoms to the doctor. She spoke about her unexplained weight loss, the restless nights, the constant fatigue that clung to her, the occasional episodes of vomiting, and the ever-present dizziness that seemed to follow her everywhere.

"Doctor, I've been experiencing these symptoms for a while now, and I'm not sure what's causing them. It's been affecting my daily life, and I'm getting really worried. I'm always exhausted, and my studies are suffering as a result," Bella added with a small voice.

Dr. Mitchell listened attentively, taking notes on Bella's symptoms as she spoke. He could sense the concern in her voice and wanted to assure her that he would do his best to help.

"I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this, Bella. We'll do our best to get to the bottom of it. Let's start with a physical examination and some tests. We'll work together to find out what's causing these symptoms and come up with a plan to address them. Please, get comfortable, and we'll begin the examination."

Bella nodded, grateful that the doctor was taking her concerns seriously. She knew that finding the root cause of her ailments might not be easy, but she was ready to face whatever lay ahead in order to reclaim her health and peace of mind.

As the examination proceeded, Bella couldn't help but hope that this visit to the clinic would finally provide her with the answers she desperately sought and that her life would soon return to some semblance of normalcy.

During the examination, Dr. Mitchell asked Bella a series of questions to gather more information about her condition. As he inquired about her last menstrual period and her sexual activity, Bella felt her cheeks flush crimson with embarrassment.

"Can you tell me when your last menstrual period was, Bella?" the doctor asked in a professional tone while taking notes.

Bella hesitated for a moment before responding softly, "I... I honestly can't remember."

The doctor raised an eyebrow at her response, but he continued his questioning. "And are you sexually active?"

Bella's voice quivered as she replied, "Well, there was... just once."

Dr. Mitchell, now more curious, inquired further, "Any chance that you could be pregnant?"

Bella shook her head adamantly, "No, no chance at all."

The doctor, though understanding Bella's assurance, decided to be thorough.

"I understand your concerns, Bella, but just to rule it out, I'll include a pregnancy test as part of the examinations today. It's a standard procedure to ensure we consider all possibilities."

Bella agreed, still a bit flustered by the line of questioning. She knew the likelihood of pregnancy was next to nil, but if it helped the doctor find the cause of her other symptoms, she was willing to go along with it. She anxiously awaited the results of the test while trying to calm her racing heart.

Dr. Mitchell assured her that they would have answers soon and continued the examination. As the minutes ticked by, Bella's mind raced with a mix of anxiety, fear, and curiosity about what might be affecting her health.

After he finished his check list, he told her that she could get dressed and that he would be with her in a few minutes.

Bella hurriedly got dressed, her mind racing with anxiety over the upcoming test results. She was relieved that she had finally taken the step of seeking medical help, but she couldn't help but worry about what the tests might reveal.

As she waited for the doctor to return with the results, Bella's heart pounded in her chest. She replayed her symptoms in her mind – the unexplained weight loss, the persistent dizziness, the restless nights, and the occasional vomiting. She longed for answers and hoped that this visit to the clinic would provide her with them. She thought that if she was OK physically, maybe she should tell him about her stress with her stoker, as he might refer her to a psychologist.

Minutes felt like hours as Bella sat on the examination table, nervously tapping her fingers on her thigh. She tried to distract herself by studying the room's posters and medical equipment, anything to keep her mind off the impending news. Her thoughts flickered between relief at finally seeking help and fear of what the results might reveal.

When the doctor finally returned, Bella sat up a little straighter, her eyes fixed on him, her anxiety building. She couldn't help but feel a sense of dread as he prepared to deliver the news.

He took a seat at his desk and addressed her "Bella, I have the initial results."
