Sixteen And Pregnant Chapter 4

Chapter Four

His question gave me an option to escape. I eagerly grabbed it, and nodded my head in yes. He grinned with a victorious glow on his face, like he had just won a lottery and placed a hand on my back to lead me out of the dance floor.

I took the hint and followed his lead. Having his hand behind my back was very uncomfortable. I had never been touched like this by any of the guys before. No one except my family men was allowed to do this. Not in a gross way. Well let's just say that I had never, except for my brother beating me, been touched in an affectionate way by any guy.

In conclusion, I was looking for a way to get his hand off my back.

We were walking until I saw the exit and began walking towards it. Weirdly, however, when I started walking there, I was stopped by Mike.

"Whoa, whoa, hey. Where are you going?" He asked. His hands were raised in the air, trying to stop me without actually touching me. His face was all but an expression of confusion. As if my actions were confusing.

Now, I was confused by the way he was looking at me, more because of his question.

"What do you mean, 'where you going?'" I asked him. Glancing at the exit, I pointed a finger at it, "Going out. You asked me if I wanted to get out of here." I said. Not being able to understand where this was going. Did I hear him wrong earlier?

Suddenly, his expression changed and settled more into what I could only guess as a realisation.

"Oh, Oh. No, I meant like, you wanted to get out of here?" He told me, pointing at the stairs that led upto to what I guessed where the bedrooms were. I was still confused. I did not understand what he was saying. Didn't, 'let's get out of here' meant getting out of the place and getting some fresh air?

I shook my head at his question. There was certainly some miscommunication between us.

"I don't understand. I think you were saying to get out of the place and get outside, in an open space. To get some fresh air." I told him. He looked at me, scanned my face and then let out a low laugh. He looked at me like he thought I was ridiculous and naive at the same time. He ran his hand through his hairs.

"No, I mean like 'get out of here to make out' kind of get out here." He explained. My mouth literally fell open when he explained what he was saying. He meant that we sneak into one of the bedrooms upstairs and do all the ... No. No way.

I shook my head frantically and backed away from him, this was not going where I thought this was going. It was certainly not what I was expecting.

"No, no, I did not mean that." I kept shaking my head and backing away until, when Mike grabbed arms from both sides stopping me from moving any further and smiled.

Shaking his head, he said, "Hey, don't worry. I was just - I was just ..." then he shook his head at himself.

"I got the wrong idea." He replied. Letting my arms go, he straightened. He ran a hand through his hairs before he shoved both his hands inside his pockets.

Well, this was awkward. We both assumed different things from the same line. I took the words literally while he meant something else. And that too, something so absurd. I mean who in this world would want to go to bed with a person that they just met? Was it common? I did not know because I don't understand how the world of parties function. So, what could I even say? I almost never talked to a guy before and this sudden proposition of something like this ... Gosh.

I needed to get out of here. I knew that my face was red because I was flustered, and I was at the edge of doing something stupid. Like, literally run out of here. I scanned for Shirley on the dance floor but saw her nowhere. It was like she had disappeared into thin air.

Just when I needed her the most. She told me that she would watch over me …

My skin was itching to get out of that place and forget that this ever happened. I could not even look this guy in the eyes, I was looking anywhere but at his face. Although, I was pretty sure that he was looking at me and noticing my strange behaviour. Observing my need to get away. But I did not know how. Maybe running out of here was the best option.

As the time went by, we both stood there not talking, and it started to get more and more uncomfortable and weird. Finally, he spoke.

"Wanna get out of here? This time I meant what I said, Like getting out of this place to get some fresh air." He suggested. My eyes flew to meet him. For once, my heart skipped a beat when I heard him speak about getting out of here, but then I realised what he said. I let out a sigh of relief.

He was only talking about going out in the fresh air. Still, I was not sure if I should agree to this. He was a stranger after all. Nevertheless, his offer seemed non threatening. Just going out of this hectic place. Outside. Quiet and peaceful. With not a lot of people around, who smelled like alcohol and sweat.

I thought it was an okay offer, especially when I could not find Shirley. I will text her once I am outside. I could not even think about anything right now. It was really hard to hear myself speak over the music. Therefore, I decided it was for the best.

Through my beating heartbeat, I hesitantly nodded my head and mouthed a yes. Mike smiled and gestured for me to walk ahead and lead the way. And I did. I walked through the crowd who parted to let me out. After a minute or so, we were out in the open, away from the crowd.
